Just recently came back to this library since the pandemic shut it down. This is our go to library in Hayward. There is a park next door that we always stop by at after getting books. Library is nice and clean and quiet. Sometimes there are homeless people milling about but they don't bother anyone. Staff usually are sitting at the desk and are helpful. there is a small parking lot with maybe abour 8 spots, but there is street parking available. read more

This location is gated. Not open. Either from COVID, or another reason... I don't know. But Yelp said it was open, so I went to renew my card. It's not open. I didn't check for any signs so I don't know for how long. Guess it's a good reason to visit the new one at downtown, but they apparently close at 4pm. That's too early. I'm still at work. read more

I've never wanted to strangle out teenagers and kids more in my life. There's a park nearby, why don't you be loud there? If you come after 2pm-3pm, expect cell phones, babies, and bored teenagers. And why does this library open at 11am Monday-Wednesday? That's way too late. The DVD section is still great. read more

I really enjoy this Library because there are a lot of activities going on that my son loves to participate in. On Tuesdays they have Preschool story time, on Fridays they have Music and Movement where the kids get to sing songs and dance and on Saturdays they have Spanish Stories and Craft. All are really interactive and fun. They have a nice big selection of kids books here too with some toys. My son LOVES reading so going to the Library is always a nice treat for him. After the classes, he loves to get on the computer (make sure you sign up for it) where he can play and learn more for 20 minutes. Then we go and pick out some books and he reads one or 2 to me and the rest we take out. After our trip to the Library we leave and BAM we're in a nice park where he can play more and work off all that energy! It's great to go in the mornings because once we're done my son's exhausted and it's his nap time! Perfect combination of learning and fun! read more

I really like going here there's lots of table space where you can go ahead and lay out all your things to do your projects comfortably and the chairs there are extremely comfortable it's a lot more quieter if you go in the weekdays in the morning time with you have any chance to I think that's the best time for anybody to go to get serious work done as for the computers do you're always going to see a line for that at least the times that I've gone however if you go ahead and bring your own laptop there's free Wi-Fi there so you shouldn't necessarily have to worry about it and don't worry there's lots of plugins reason go ahead and charge your cell phone plus your laptop comfortably The reason why I give this place to 5 is that the staff there is really helpful and professional and they will go ahead and help you look for a certain book that you need in there in main branch library and they really prompt of calling you when its has arrived this place is extremely clean and up to date read more

This library is a gem in Hayward! Yes it is small, but they still have a great selection of books, and are constantly adding new ones to their collection. You can also request books online to pick up at this branch from other locations. They offer the option to rent audiobooks via the libby or kindle app, and there's a vast selection of ebooks and audiobooks available. They also provide additional resources online for tutoring your kids, courses for adults, and free or reduced tickets to various museums and such venues around the bay. These are free to you with a library card, which is so awesome in my opinion! Also, Weekes library is a great place for moms of babies and toddlers. Seriously, if you have little kids and live in Hayward you have to check out this library. They have weekly storytime, crafts, dance and movement classes during the day, offer homework help, and I believe they also do a bed time stories around 6pm on a weekday. During the summer they also have a lot of activities for kids: crafts, storytime, meet local firemen, magic shows, bubble shows... This summer they also offered a free lunch for kids 18 and under. You can check out their website or stop by the branch to get a schedule of their activities for kids. The staff is very friendly and helpful, I also like the fact they have various self checkout stations. Saves time and very easy to use. I have been bringing my kids here for a few years now and they love their library. They really enjoy storytime and crafts on Thursday- this class is for kids 3-5 since it helps prepare them for school. They think the teacher is the best and always look for her when we stop by. The one and only con is the bathrooms can be dirty/smelly. I understand with the amount of kids and random people around the park it's hard to monitor/maintain this. Besides that issue, Weekes library is great. Check them out, get yourself or your kids a library card, and start using their other great resources as well. read more

Personally not a fan of this branch because of its small size and overall grimy feeling. The inside reeks strongly of cigarettes, and the books are old and tattered. I didn't see any other parking areas besides the small lot directly in front of the library, and I was lucky enough to find a spot there. Overall, this branch is in desperate need of some upgrades/renovation, but I know it all comes down to city budgets. read more

Def not as big as the Main Street library which is taking FOREVER to open but has a fairly nice size of DVD movies. Book collections are rather limited here, but it's a smaller library. Had to go here, not only because I had lost my library card who knows where, but also to return the items I had forever and was not able to return due to the closure of the Main branch. Library was clean and the person who helped me at the desk was friendly in getting me a new library card. So this library will be my temporary go to library now and then until my local one opens again. read more

Please don't get me wrong BUT there needs to be a policy for the homeless crashing/sleeping/eating/fighting/using drugs and exchanging a deal just feets away from the main desk. This is the only library close to me and there are times where I need to go and study here. The staff see things happening but take no action. There needs to be rules. It saddens my heart to see the people resorting to this as a safe shelter to pass their day. Yes everyone has the right to be here but at least stop the fights/eating situation! Please clean the restrooms also on a regular basis, it's so disgusting. read more

I take my toddler son here every Monday for their Monday morning Play and Learn Group. I really enjoy this group because the facilitators are nice and very engaging and the other parents I've met there are also very friendly. The toys and activities offered are varied and wonderful. They have everything from make-believe to wooden trains to push cars to a sand activity area that is filled with rice (brilliant!). If you're interested in the 1115a or 1230p class, make sure you sign up early because they fill up quickly. You must show up in person to sign up. Aside from the class, the library itself is delightful. I like how the children's side is in the east wing, where you don't have to worry about your kid being loud. The kids book area is great also because there are "quiet" toys such as boards available for the toddlers to enjoy while the parents and older siblings browse for books. The only thing that could be better about this location is the paucity of board books. My son is very into "flipping" the pages of board books right now so the fact that their collection is limited to two small baskets in a corner is very sad. I love the self-service scanning kiosks and the friendly librarians as well. I look forward to class every Monday and hanging out afterwards, chatting with other parents and looking for books to borrow. Clean and well-kept location. Great little library! read more

Convenient location, right near Weekes Park although the parking lot is hella small. Park alongside the park or the next block down, walking is good 4 ya! It's a small library but it is open Saturday. I didn't know the main library on C Street was closed Saturdays until I attempted to go at 11. There may be a line at the machines when checking out, but it's manageable. read more

My family comes here at least twice a week for the children's classes. Monday is Spanish class. Friday is music and movement with Teacher Kavita. My son absolutely loves this library and it's grown on us too. The librarians are friendly and Teacher Kavita is the best. The children love her. I just deducted one star because there is a funny smell every time I enter the library as though the carpets need a serious cleaning. That- or just rip them out. Too much dirt and allergens have probably collected on them. Otherwise continue to rock on! read more

While small, this library is warm, welcoming and very helpful. They have a great selection of children's picture books and they're always willing to help request books from other libraries. They offer some sweet sing-a-long and story time groups for toddlers and small children. The librarians are also great. read more

Small and clean library. This library has been there for years, I remember going there when I was young and now I take my kids. They books are well organized for kids by reading levels which make it easy to choose. My only recommendation is to change the floors or something, as there is this "old carpet" smell when you walk in. Otherwise, staff are helpful and place is well maintained. read more

Small neighborhood library with a little baby parking lot. The lot is almost always full even when the library is closed due to its proximity to the park. There is street parking all down Patrick Ave and other side streets. Outside they have several book drops which look like mail drop boxes that are painted to look like animals and other thins. Inside of the library they have a few computers for adults and two for children. The adult computers are often full and you only get one 90 minute session per day. On the plus side you can check out a chrome book if you have no fines or issues with your account and have your drivers , check out period is 4 hours. The adult area has several tables with power outlets to study or using a laptop, this area is often full. The children's area is small with coloring books, puzzles, a few toys, and two early literacy game stations (must be unlocked by staff member). This area can be louder than the other side of the library due to the children playing. The library collection is small but you can also have items transferred over from the main library or use Link+ (service offered where you can borrow items from all over the bay area and have them sent to Weekes branch). read more

Small town library that has been around for years. I was in elementary going to this library to rent books and VHSs (yea, it's pretty old lol). I now come here once in a while to bring documents from the public computers open to all (so long as you have a library card) and/or print from my laptop. The library is equipped with wifi so bringing your laptop comes in handy. I think when I'm blessed with children and if I'm still in the area, I'd bring my little ones here as they have activities (reading, etc) catered specifically for the young and I love that. During the school year it can get pretty loud but that's to be expected with all the school kids. Overall, not a bad little library to rent some books. read more

With only two branches (Weekes and Main), you'd think the selection here would be fairly limited, but I can often find items that are unavailable through Alameda Co. Library, so it get props for that. I have never seen the parking lot full (maybe I just get there at the right time) and the staff has always been very helpful. They stay open until 8 Mon-Wed, so it's easy to stop by after work. There are plenty of drop-off bins outside and they are all very colorful, but they are not marked and I am always afraid that I am tossing my return books into a recycle bin. read more

One of the two libraries Hayward has to offer and it is my favorite. It's smaller than the main library in downtown, but parking is easier, it's less packed with loiterers and their movie selection is out of this world! I know what you're thinking, their movie selection?! What about their book selection?! It too, is fantastic. I almost always use the online catalog to put things on hold so I can run in and pick books up. They're pretty fast at putting in requests you make online. It's walking distance from my house, fairly quiet, there are some kids and parents, but that's normal, was able to get a library card within 5 minutes. The staff are friendly. It's near a park (Weekes Park) so you can eat your snack outside, go for a walk and enjoy fresh air. Parking is limited but there are street parking. Best of all it has free WiFi. A good library if you happened to be in the South f Hayward area. Just be early being here for the parking fills up quickly and you might wait for a long while to get a parking space. This is why i bring my bicycle going to this place because there's plenty of locking brackets for bike parking but there's about 12 car space + 2 for disabled person's parking. Parking spaces aside, this library is great but the selection of books and DVD's are very limited. Your best bet in the one in C Street in downtown Hayward where it's a much bigger library. Wi-fi is free and fast in this library but the people working behind the counters have a bot of an attitude and most don't smile at you. read more

It's a nice library branch with a lot of books, but the parking lot is tiny by a community park. For somehow, neither of my boys (4 & 2 years old) like their kids programs. The teacher failed to make a good impression with my kids in a warm and inviting way. For my family, if we want to check out books or just read some books, we would come here; as for children's activities, we would recommend the Main Library located on C St. of downtown. read more
