I most definitely recommend the library to everyone! There's so many perks, events and learning opportunities + the Discover & Go perks (Google it or ask your librarian!). Get yourself a library card to check out books, magazines, DVDs & I'm not sure exactly of what else. Some libraries offer check out of tools (if not the Manor branch, the Main library does! ie. stuff for camping trips). You can also rent out private study rooms for a certain amount of time. You can use their computers (forgot how long the time goes up to) & I also love that they allow free computer printing up to 20 pages. Make sure to keep track of your return date for items checked out. They have self check out machines- super easy, and have the clerks available to help you out if need be. Enjoy! read more

I appreciate the hours; came in on a Friday when the main library(which I love) was closed :-( This library is open Monday through Friday and closes on the weekend. Study tables and chairs line the windows and there are also comfy looking chairs set up for alternate study positions. Children library is toward the back and there are also a couple of tables and computers back there. I like that study rooms can be reserved as well. As far as noise ummmm...it's loud in here. Not the occasional door opening or chair scraping on the floor. There's a constant orchestra of noise which may be ok for some but as for me, I prefer library silence to study. I understand that this library is one big shared space for adults and kids and actually didn't mind noise from the kids. It was all the other distractions, including another patron that was FaceTiming on speaker. Really sis? I'll come if I have no other choice but if you need a quiet space to study I would not recommend, or maybe bring noise cancelling headphones. I have many fond memories here since I grew up in the manor. The purpose of this placed has changed over the years, so ill only go into details about how it's been the last two years with covid. They've been closed and had modified hours throughout the pandemic, so honestly it's be frustrating sometimes. I've also found that they will close early 30 minutes on some occasions just because. Which is really frustrating if there something I needed to print. With that said, I've enjoyed the other aspects of the library. It's a nice quiet place to work or study. The layout is the exact same it's always been and the chairs are starting to become a bit outdated/loosing its cushion. The thing I love the most though... online books. You can borrow books online now, which has been swell. I will still come in for a quiet place to study, but I no longer have to worry about overdue books when I borrow online. It's been great, and I've been able to read a lot even during the pandemic because I don't have to physically go to the library! read more

Coming to the library is so unrated! This place is nice and offers so much from board games to audiobooks. They have a program called Discovery and Go where you can get free or discount tickets to local museums. Checking it out to see of the zoo is included. They offer fun travel events and paint nights. Sure will be bringing my daughter here more often. read more

San Leandro Manor branch library is next left to Porky's Pizza Palace. it's easily within walking distance of 3 nearby corners with eateries and shopping venues. parking at the library site is limited to 20 ish vehicles. this branch has a physical similarity to the main library downtown. the infrastructure is similar albeit on a smaller scale: fiction/nonfiction books, dvd's, periodicals, newspapers, children's section, conference rooms, computers, etc. it's ok to drop by if in area. not worth a special trip... 3.5 stars read more

This was my favorite library ever since my kids were young. However, the experiences that I am having now have been so unpleasant. These past few days I stop at the library after school hours so that my daughter can finish her homework and do research. However, the library was crowded by a group of teenage boys whom I didn't mind at all at first. Nonetheless, as my daughter and I sat by the computers, I realized that these boys were drinking Slurpee's from 7 eleven, another one was drinking a blue Gatorade and another eating Dorito chips. I thought that was interesting to see, since the librarian was seating in her desk a few feet away and didn't bother to say anything. To make matters worse one of them began drinking his drink in front of the librarian as if a defiance way. Well, since no one said anything, I just ignored the behavior and I tried to mind my own business. Well, that didn't last long, for the boys began to touch each other's private or genital body parts in the library. It was no horse playing, they were actually rubbing each other in the couches one sitting on top of another. It was disturbing, disgusting to watch, I quickly grab my daughter and left the place. But before I left, I went and complained to one of the three librarians and all she did was to say that she was sorry. My question here is, "what happened to our libraries?" it looks more like a hang out or park. No one says anything, you pretty much can do whatever you want because no one will enforce the rules anymore. These are minors, hanging out alone and worse they are conducting sexual behaviors in front of others. Why are there cameras at the library if no one is actually supervising??? This library is not what it used to be anymore!!!!! read more

Getting to Manor Library is a bit of a pain. You have to turn on a crazy street and mosey on down several sides streets. It's hidden for the local community's use. The library is newly developed and shows it through the architecture. This isn't the biggest library and you probably won't find the exact book you're looking for; except, they do have a good "new" section. There are private rooms and wifi as well. Seating gets swooped up fast so get here early. Manor isn't affiliated with the Alameda County Library System so you'd better be a resident, employee, or full time student. read more

If I'm in the area I would go back to study or just read. This a mall but great library. It as studying rooms for groups, tables with outlets, great lighting. The only reason why it doesn't get 5 stars is because the opening hours are too late. I'm not that old but I appreciate libraries. I found my passion for learning in a library when I was growing up. I love the smell of books. I wish more children knew the importance of libraries. If they were to open at like 10am that would be perfect, i saw a lot of elderly people waiting for them to open, I'm sure if it was open earlier they would take advantage of it. read more

Well this monster was built in the recent past. I remember a San Leandro Times article stating, this place is "being built in the place of a vacant medical building" I thought yeah right... vacant? My dentist is still there -- Well my dentist got moved to downtown San Leandro... I'm not sure what the exact details were of him "moving" or getting evicted but I thought the newspaper article was misleading. The old smaller library - where the parking lot currently is - was sufficient for this neighborhood. It was a smaller place - I would have preferred the smaller place to stay and rather use all the extra money for more librarians and longer hours instead of a bigger place. Sure, this place has a fancy open air feeling that is probably costly to heat and cool... who needs all this? Money spent to dredge the San Leandro Marina would have been better spent. read more

Over 10 years ago, it was a bungalow. I'm glad this was one of many libraries that got funded for expansion. On occasion I come here to study and let me tell you, this library is not what it seems. I'll solely be talking about the ambience in the library. Previously the doors were sliding doors that created a lot of noise as people come and leave the library but now they are push to open doors. However, the librarians talk loudly between the two desks set apart whereas everyone else is expected to be quiet. Doesn't make sense. In fact, my recent visit (Saturday March 11, 2017) was very interesting. A man who came in was asking for help as he held a sandwich in a bag. The librarian, short & curly hair, helped the man and repeatedly asked him to do something to lessen the scent of his sandwich. She said this rudely and loud enough for me to hear through my bose headphones set at a low volume. The man who seemed a bit sketch said maybe an expletive or two and the lady told the man to leave. Now I understand that the scent is disturbing but a professional librarian doesn't lose her cool or talks rudely or loudly in her working place. Doesn't make sense to me. On another occasion, the same lady around the time kids get off school tends to hound the kids for not doing work. She watches them like a hawk. Like she's waiting for them to do something wrong. This happens everytime. Aside from these occurrences, I only go here because I personally cannot study or work at home due to my distractions. They have wifi, which is good, yet most of the outlets on the tables don't work (last I remembered. I didn't use the outlets on my March 11 visit). Simply put, I feel as if the visitors of this library are held to expected standards whereas it should be the employees who run the facility to be held at high standard as they help many children and adults. The library itself is nice but could use a second story. The ceiling is set high yet the building is one story. Waste of space. Also, there is a large room with the entrance near the bathrooms that I have never seen used. Ever. All in all, I guess I have an issue mainly with how rude someone with authority can be. The other librarians are actually going through the aisles of books organizing, reshelving, and attempting to talk in a low voice whereas I see the lady from both occasions hound and harass children. read more

This library is a great place to get schoolwork done! They have all sorts of areas to sit that are quiet and comfortable. Takes with outlets for laptops and phones, cozier areas with couches and chairs with a home feel, and single tables along the wall or the windows upstairs. It reminds me of the libraries I studied in at Fresno State and Sonoma State. My life is so busy and I need to be in a place that helps me focus on what I need to do. I've been working on my final paper for my doctoral program and I just want getting it done at home. They Also have a separate area/room with it's own children's library which is cool for kids and parents. There's a room with about 20 computers to work on too. The one thing I really wish was different was the hours. Working people need longer evening and weekend hours. They close at 5pm on Saturdays but 8pm or even 7pm would be better. On weekday evenings closing at 8pm gives me just 2 hours to get over there and get started and by the time I get there and start I only have about 60-90 minutes left. 10pm would be so much better. I understand why they are closed on Fridays but, Sundays are closed which is awful for working people going to school. I also understand libraries are struggling for funding though, so I appreciate it being there at all! read more

This smaller branch of the San Leandro library is a nice getaway if you want to read or use their free wifi. While this has shorter hours than the main library downtown, one big advantage is that their parking lot is not metered or restricted, while the lot adjacent to the main library is 2 hours only. Since it's smaller, this location never seems as busy, so you can always find a table to use. Also, you can print 10 pages from one of their computers for free (there is a small fee for subsequent pages). And within walking distance, there are several places to eat, after all that studying you're doing! read more

The books are available to the public, but if you want to use the internet--they want you to pay $60 for a "PUBLIC LIBRARY CARD". I think this should be labeled as a private library or a business--if they're going to charge you computer access. What a scam. read more

Pleasantly surprised with this library! I just wish the hours were open later! Comfortable chairs, big tables, lamp, free wifi (have my own laptop). I never have any trouble with parking - ample & as long as I want. There is Vietnamese food across the street, a 7/11, pizza, ice cream, etc. I'm a student that just needs a place to study, so I can't comment on the book selection. Note: wear your shoes LOL, I was sitting with my Nikes off and my feet (with socks) resting on the ground when I was interrupted with a "We require shoes on at all times". It's a good thing but a bit overly anal, in my opinion. My socked foot on the ground vs the crap people bring in on the bottom of their shoes. Come on... I'm going to sit here 6 hours like a log and study. Lemme LIVE!! Coffee in my mug & water bottle seems alright, even though the sign states no food or drink. Happy studying :) read more

One of the best and cleanest libraries in the Bay Area. Free parking directly in front of the library. I like their long, 10 hour business hours on some weekdays very much. Also, there are some really good eating places very close to the library. Saigon House and Quickly Tea are my two favorites. I live pretty close here and on occasion I come here after work from the Bart station. The seating is comfortable and they have pretty extensive selection of books, movies and music. The place is also kept very clean and organized. There is a cafe right next to it and occasionally sit out there to have coffee. read more

Love this library. It's local, convenient with places to grab a bite to eat. It's smaller which I love because less people. Downfall? When school is out youth come in and make a huge commotion waiting for their rides and what not. The "silence" mode is disturbed for 1-3 hour or so. Even with employees trying to control the noise levels doesn't work. Other than that, this library is comfortable and clean and quiet when school is not out. Nice, new, clean manor library branch. I've been here a few times to just hang out and tap away at the keyboard during the day. The furniture is still fairly new, and quite honestly anything beats that house that used to sit on this property and call itself a library. Lots of windows for light. Free wi-fi if you're a card carrying member. Only bad part about the interwebz though is that it's slow. Last time I checked, you also get 10 pages free to print a day, afterwards it's maybe 10-11 cents per page. The hours are a little ridiculous though, I've been here a few times expecting it to be open and leaving disappointed. So always check ahead. read more

Cute, quaint, friendly hometown library. I enjoy the cozy feeling this library offers. This place was recently renovated and has such style, which is visibly seen from the outside. There isn't much parking available as this is a neighborhood library. I like that I can count on finding a spot to read or chill on the computer. The times I have been here, I've never had a problem with noise or having to wait to use the computer. The use of computers is free for San Leandro residents. If you live in another city there will be a fee. A time limit of 90 minutes is placed on computer use, per person, per day. Of all the libraries in this city, this one is the best! read more

I remember when the Manor Branch was still being built a few years ago. On a small main street in the neighborhoods on San Leandro, I wondered what was being constructed next to the Porky's Pizza. To my surprise, it turned out to be brand spankin new library! I believe there are elementary and middle schools just a few blocks away, so there are always groups of students at the Manor Branch after school any given day....some like to just hang out outside. I'm sure those kids told their parents that they're "studying at the library." I've only borrowed books from there a few times. It's very small but because it was new, it was very inviting and clean. If you're looking for specific literature, they may not have it because the stacks are limited. You may need to hold the book through reservation or just go to the SL Main Branch. read more

This is a nice, newer, modern library in the Manor area. They have a pretty decent variety and selection of books. It's pretty easy to find a book that suits your interest when going there. The technology availability is pretty up to date. I tried to fax some papers a while back though. They didn't have a fax machine. I don't like the staff that much. They come off a little rude to me and can be unhelpful. This is a good library to go to, as long as you don't need much assistance. read more

Upgrading the old Manor Branch was definitely a good move. The new building, which now sits next door, is much roomier, with a raised ceiling and wider entrance. However, the book collection is still a bit on the small side, and there is a focus on children and youth books. On the bright side, this upgrade allows the library to reach out more to the community, with Wi-fi, many public computers, self-checkout, and even a fireplace. read more

It's a decent place to go when you need to use their resources. They have books, study rooms, comfy seats, and computers to use. I used to come here all the time to study, but it gets really cold ( the AC seems to be running all the time) and loud at times. Since it's near all of the public schools, there are a lot of kids running around in here after school lets out which can get really noisy. As for the staff, they don't seem like the friendliest bunch, but they are helpful when you need them. Overall, they do their job. read more

Best library out of all the San Leandro public libraries. Good exterior and interior design. Gives it a calm, peaceful, and comfortable feeling. Inside there are two study rooms, with two computers and a table. You walk in any time to use it and have a quite, little space to work. However, keep in mind that people can walk in and use it as well. It's not all to you own, unless you book ahead of time. Call the library and tell them you want to book a study room and when you arrive, they will have a paper posted on one of the rooms with your name on it. Reserved just for you. The books in the Manor Branch aren't as plentiful as the Main branch, but you can always tell them to transfer it over. I personally find the Main branch to be less comfortable, but they do have a wide variety of book selections. read more

Children's area is nice and clean, but strollers aren't allowed in the storytime conference room, and moms with multiple babies are at a serious disadvantage when trying to educate their children. They didn't have enough seats set up for art either. I guess storytime is so popular the librarians have to be rude to parents to keep the peace and keep kids safe, but I have been to a fabulous storytime at the Newark library where kids could be kids and move around during storytime. A 2-yr-old is not easy for me to keep still without a stroller. Also, why is the beautiful outside patio always closed? read more

this place recently had a reconstruction that took a looooong time. however the books that they have here havent improved much. It feels like they have the same amount of books as they did when this library was still a little house. The San Leandro Manor library is very modern and stylish, but has relatively few books (compared to the simple old Alameda Co library in San Lorenzo). However, they do keep up a pretty good flow of new NYT bestsellers which is nice. The emphasis at San Leandro Manor seems to be to provide computer access (wireless access and space for kids to hang out, do their homework, and socialize). Maybe that's not such a bad thing. But you can always get free wireless and study at Starbucks and other coffee shops without taxing everyone to death. For that matter, the hours are so limited, maybe they could just outsource the whole operation to Starbucks and provide something like normal operating hours. What's the point to building this impressive architectural edifice if you can't afford to have it open at least during normal business hours? In San Leandro: holds cost $$, and you only get a courtesy automated phone call AFTER your book and fines are due. In contrast, the Alameda county library sends you an email warning before they are due. And remember, they make you 'login' to microsoft windoze and type in a 14 digit library card number on 9 out 10 terminals just to look at the library catalog. I'm sure all the senior citizens have fun with that. On the other hand, its nice to know your city government is well prepared to issue 99 billion San Leandro library cards. read more
