Battery recycling is located in the same alcove as the self-service print/scan/fax station (next to the info/checkout desk). Be careful and follow instructions to wrap batteries separately/individually in plastic before dropping them off. Surprisingly the library also has a Kilowatt usage measuring device that you can checkout/rent to understand and see electricity usage for devices/home goods/etc. The cafe in the back (which carries limited snacks and drinks) has plenty of indoor and patio seating. The "Friends of the Library" self-service book sales shelf (honor system) is in the far corner of the same cafe. Their regular bookstore/donation center is next to the restrooms on your right as you enter.

Loved that they had boxsets of the Beatles and Miles Davis. They were named one of the top 25 vegan and vegetarian restaurants in the world. There are some fun bookstores in Rockridge and the Rockridge Branch Library is on point. When I walked in there was a display of cookbooks including Oakland's own vegan cookbook author Bryant Terry's book Vegan Soul Kitchen and the fun vegan cookbook Thug Kitchen: Part Grub for social mother f*ckers. Inside they had some nice records in the CD music section and couple of stellar vegan cookbooks. I loved the shelf with the display of Staff Picks with several books on display. Beacause of this library I don't need my printer any longer…read more Because of this library I no longer need to patronize FedEx Office. Because of this library I don't realky need Netflix. There is so much they have to offer and I don't have to pay for! Parking is more plentiful than it looks. Go inside and seek a parking permit. Your car will be safe from towing. If you're just parking there and not using the library while it is open you may have a not so pleasant surprise coming up. And, the best part is that the librarians and technicians are wonderful people.

They also have computers available and a community room that can be reserved but only if it's an open attendance event at the moment. Overall I love this place. The bathrooms are always clean, drinking fountain, and there's a cork board near the printer with community events and resources. The one thing that would up this place would be to allow the empty community rooms to be rented out for an hour by more closed support groups if possible, but it's still very neat.

If they are not new they are certainly new to us. Vox books work like an audiobook and contain a little speaker on the book. Big hit in my household! Customer service was great. The person checking us out shared how to charge the books and appreciated my feedback on how much my child likes them. It might be the only public bathroom in the area. Big thank you for all the librarians and library team members that work to keep the doors open to the community!

Returns are super easy with all the book drops outside. The main library does a better job of curating adult books (new releases, hot titles) so I rarely come out of the Piedmont library with something I didn't already expect to pick up, but these little branch libraries aren't exactly sized for extended browsing.

Patrons here have access to the entire Oakland library online & all the libraries in CA through the Link Plus interlibrary loan system to pick up items on their hold shelf. There are two computers for internet. There is also a printer for print jobs or Xerox copies. Staff here is friendly. Kudos for the great selection of magazines including Lonely Planet for travel, Lucky Peach for foodies, & MOJO which is probably the best music magazine out there. Magazines is where the Piedmont Ave Branch Library seems to shine brightest. Piedmont Ave Branch Library is a short walk from Timeless Coffee which is a fully vegan coffeehouse serving heavenly hot drinks, desserts, & brunch. Check them out!
