Battery recycling is located in the same alcove as the self-service print/scan/fax station (next to the info/checkout desk). Be careful and follow instructions to wrap batteries separately/individually in plastic before dropping them off. Surprisingly the library also has a Kilowatt usage measuring device that you can checkout/rent to understand and see electricity usage for devices/home goods/etc. The cafe in the back (which carries limited snacks and drinks) has plenty of indoor and patio seating. The "Friends of the Library" self-service book sales shelf (honor system) is in the far corner of the same cafe. Their regular bookstore/donation center is next to the restrooms on your right as you enter.

I loved the owls on the sign that greet you on your way in. They had Joseph Heller's Catch 22 classic here and a memoir by John Waters on display. Inside they had some nice records in the CD music section and couple of stellar vegan cookbooks. I loved the shelf with the display of Staff Picks with several books on display. The Lakeview Branch Library has got to be one of the smallest little fully functioning libraries I have ever seen. Tiny building hasn't been replace in all these years. It's been remolded and updated inside, even has all the modern things like the internet! Using the internet, I haven been in a library for as long as I can remember! Dewey decimal system .... I just heard of it, I have no idea how it works! You can still even get a "library card" here! My guide tells me he wasn't much of a reader, even as a child, but the big soft chairs they had were good to sit in. He tells me of this "card catalog" thing, that's where you looked up a book and then it told you where to find it. Oh God , I love Google way better! I'm glad iconic landmarks like this are still around, it takes someone past a certain age to remember all the thing here the way it used to be.

The bathrooms are always clean, drinking fountain, and there's a cork board near the printer with community events and resources. The one thing that would up this place would be to allow the empty community rooms to be rented out for an hour by more closed support groups if possible, but it's still very neat.
