Went to Chabot for my son's AAU games and didn't see the 8x11 sign that said Head in Parking Only. The guy who is head of parking was rude when he approached me to tell me I couldn't back in when parking. I honestly said I didn't see the signs, and with an attitude he said there are 10 signs. Where I parked, none of the signs were near me. The nearest sign was about 25-30 yards away. My kids and I also walked to the main gym where they played their games before, and once again I was met by the head of parking. He aggressively told my boys they shouldn't be opening random doors looking for their games. I asked him, did I miss the signs again because this is where they played last time. He said no and said the games were in a different building. I said, to help everyone, signs would be helpful, this way he wouldn't be irritated telling other parents to look for the other gym. We walked over to building 2900 like he told us too, and he yelled at me, my sons and other parents from across the swimming pool, telling us we were using the wrong door. It could have helped if he told us where to go. The door we tried opening was directly under the 2900 sign. I yelled back at him saying we are at building 2900 like he instructed. He replied back we needed to walk around the building. When we finally found the entrance it was 2940. I found this gentleman, very rude and aggressive with his approach. I am not sure if this is how Chabot wants to be represented to people in the community visiting. if any staff member is reading this, the gentleman I am talking about is a large heavy set African American who identifies himself as the head of parking and he drives a gray Infiniti SUV. Even if he is not part of Chabot College, simply being on campus and introducing himself as someone in an authority position makes it seem he works for the college. read more

My team and I performed at Prelude dance competition held at the Chabot College Performing Art Center. Great staff and a beautiful stage. The campus is nice and there are lots of nice places to just enjoy the scenery. My only not is that there be a bigger dressing room only about one team could fit in it. read more

If I could give zero stars and a strongly worded therapy referral, I would. Chabot College has proven that red tape is more important than human beings. I came to them for support--financial, emotional, educational--after surviving not one, not two, but a trilogy of life-altering traumas: domestic violence, homelessness, and the death of my only remaining parent figure. I documented it all. They asked for more. I gave more. They responded with silence, delay, and ultimately rejection. What kind of institution demands a death certificate when you provide an obituary and funeral evidence? What type of college reviews a trauma-based financial aid appeal and DENIES it in under a couple of hours? Chabot's compassion clock must punch out at 4:59 p.m. sharp. When I tried again years later (Spring 2025)--older, stronger, still healing, but now an empty-nester coping with the disappearance of my only child--I received no support. Not even a call. Not even a question. Just rejection again, wrapped in policy and indifference. Let me be clear: I'm a resilient, determined, disabled student trying to rebuild a life and earn a degree against incredible odds. And Chabot College is actively making that harder. If you're a student struggling with trauma, mental health, or anything outside the fantasy of a "perfect academic life," think twice before expecting empathy here. Bring documentation. Bring proof. And apparently, bring a death certificate--because lived experience isn't enough. I'll be pursuing my education in spite of Chabot, not because of it. Transferring here from another school (where I had priority registration) has been a nightmare. I regret my decision. I was granted an MTF appeal at my other school but moved from Contra Costa County to Alameda County; upon transferring I had to go through the appeals process again and was denied. Received a vague email suggesting that I apply for a loan, but I don't qualify because I only have 5 units until mid-March. I literally need 2 more courses before transferring to a 4-year university as a junior. I wish I had just left enough alone. To attend here you have to go through way too many unnecessary steps. Man being a Hayward Native and wanting to have the name of this college on my degree sure made me realize that it's not just a name that matters. Service, support, counseling, admissions all of that matters and I am highly disappointed in my time as a student here. Here's the thing in parking. Even when you have a disabled placard/plates. You have to pay for a permit! $3 for a day or $40 for the whole semester, so better watch out! Or they will give you a citation/violation just to park. Permit is a deceiving word, you think that you have a disabled placard you have a notion that you got the permit. Wrong! Beware, when parking on Saturdays. Park patrol will give you a violation too. It must be posted on the disabled post that anybody has to purchase a (permit to park). Counsellors at Chabot are like Vogons from Hitchhiker Guide to the Galaxy. If you do a drop-in call they won't listen to you or make an effort to understand your situation. The feeling one gets is that they are paid by how quickly they can email you a form, (which won't even be the proper one) and get you off the call. Their disdain is so strangling that it is almost as if speaking too much might make them desintegrate. "Nursing Students: Think Twice Before Enrolling Here" If you're thinking about applying to Chabot College's Nursing Program, please read this first. I'm writing this as someone with firsthand knowledge and deep concern for future students. While the program proudly advertises a 95-100% NCLEX pass rate, what they don't tell you is how many students they lose along the way. The Class of 2025 started with 39 students, and only 20 graduated. That's nearly a 50% attrition rate. What happened to the rest? Many were failed due to inconsistent grading, subjective clinical evaluations, and a lack of meaningful academic support. There is little transparency, and the program culture fosters fear over learning. If you're struggling, you won't get the help you need, you'll be pushed out. Students often describe the environment as toxic, unsupportive, and unfair. If you don't have the "right" instructor or happen to ask the "wrong" questions, your academic future may be at risk, not based on your abilities, but based on personalities. Nursing school should be hard, but it should also be fair, evidence-based, and student-focused. Sadly, that's not the experience many students have had here. If you're serious about becoming a nurse, look elsewhere. CSU East Bay, Merritt, Ohlone, or even private programs may offer a healthier, more supportive path to success. I went to the dental hygienist program information tonight around 6pm and nobody was African American or black in that information session or dental hygiene program. A student asked anybody if any students had any questions and I thought that the student would be nice and it was this student from Brazil and said Brazilians don't trust Americans cleaning their teeth when I said how do find patients putting her racist comments into the conversation. One of the worst places we ever worked in higher education, for so many reasons: low pay, lousy administrators who expected us to pass students who didn't do any work, and a lot of students who were "entitled" by these administrators to treat faculty like trash with disrespect. Spent four years here doing pro bono work basically, with no support from aforementioned administrators. Remember when Chabot had a transfer agreement with UC Davis, that if anyone got a 2.0 in core courses they'd automatically be admitted to Davis? Chabot loved passing students who didn't earn 2.0 GPAs just so they could say they were transferring a lot of students. Never mind those transfers were getting kicked out of UCD after a year because they had no skills whatsoever. We have 27 years experience in higher ed instruction and administration now, with five graduates degrees in three different fields, and we just laugh we ever wasted time on this campus. Starts at the top with the current district chancellor, really, who is a complete phony and fake. Go to Ohlone instead, students; seriously. read more

This college finds it acceptable to issue parking citations to handicapped drivers at random. I parked in a lot on a Saturday to attend a baseball tournament. I unloaded my mobility scooter and left the vehicle parked. I returned to find a citation siting I did not have a "valid permit". I was not aware handicapped drivers not to mention a handicapped veteran, needed a permit to park. Besides that , not every car without a permit was cited. The selection was random. read more

Chabot college is a junior college in Hayward Ca! I finished my associate degree here almost 20 years ago! Junior college is an excellent way for a student on a budget to get general education requirements completed in preparation for a university! Chabot has a very nice swimming pool that can accommodate large championship events like WACC or EBSL championships. I have been coming to Chabot on and off for twenty or so years. I've changed careers twice, so I've had to learn new things and Chabot has always helped in picking up new skills and helping me change careers. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Chabot!!! All the teachers I've had (with the exception of one) have been excellent. My only gripe is it takes them a really long time to process final grades compared to anywhere else. I've taken classes at around 4 other colleges and all of them have their final grades on your transcript around 2 -4 days after the semester ends. Chabot takes almost 3 weeks! My first experience at Chabot was when I was still a Senior in High School. I came here in May 2019 as a prospective student. Most of the staff seemed nice, except for this one white lady in the assessment center. I believe she was in charge of scheduling appointments for the Counseling and Registration Sessions for students. Either way, she seemed intimidating and impatient. When she asked me if a certain date would work, I told her "probably". Although she had a point that "probably" doesn't work and that its either yes or no, she was less then polite when explaining that to me and demanded that I either answer yes or no ("..so do you want it or not!?"). After I finally scheduled my appointment, I thanked her and she said "you're welcome", although it really didn't sound like she meant it. My second experience was a few weeks later when I came back for the CAR session. Fortunately, this time, I had a much better experience. The counselors were really nice and humorous. If asked if I would recommend this place, I would say probably. (No pun intended, and "probably" in this case is a legitimate answer!) I most certainly started off with a bad impression about Chabot, but luckily it improved on my second visit. Most of the people there are nice, but you should also get thick skin as there are some that aren't as nice. read more

I was never a full-time student at this place, but I'm the type who always likes to expand my horizons, so from time to time, I enroll in a few classes here and there. For the most part, the course times are convenient, so you can work around your schedule. Since I didn't actually attend this school for college, I can't comment on their regular curriculum, but Chabot also offers plenty of "community education" classes, which are typically shorter and abridged, and instructed by private parties. Although not necessarily part of the normal college faculty, the teachers are well qualified, and are merely using the school faciltiies as a means of reaching a wider audience. These programs are not accredited, and don't count towards graduation, but are designed for practicality in the real world. Many of these are introductions to new careers or skill sets, or popular languages, such as Japanese and Spanish. Other offerings include cooking, real estate, computers, film-making, anime, digital design, and a whole host of others. You are bound to find something to suit your desires. Unlike many other JC's, such as Ohlone or De Anza, access to the campus is very easy, as it is practically adjacent to Highway 92. Furthermore, the crime rate surrounding the immediate area tends to be quite low, so break-ins or robberies are not common occurences. If you don't want to pay for parking, just use the lot across the street. There are no power outlets at 90 % of the areas you sit and worst of all; the friggin wireless doesn't work. Although the professors can be interesting and helpful the classes seem to be "dumbed down" in order to cater to many of the students who attend this college and are definitely NOT at college level. I graduated from a state university and have taken additional prerequisite classes at 5 community colleges and this one is just not up to par academically. And I do not think that is at the fault of the teachers at all. I was amazed by how many students were struggling in the classes I took with them. And on top of that, this school seems to contain some of the worst drivers in the area. My car was hit twice and badly damaged once in the parking lot of all places while I was in class! I would only give one star to the admissions office who are extremely difficult to get in touch with. Don't even bother calling the operators. They don't know how to redirect you in any way. I either get disconnected or redirected to the same automated menu. If you have any issues, go in personally to deal with them and talk to someone face to face. read more

I was going to give this place a good review, but man this place gets me heated up!! The campus is descent, and all, but their counselors and their employees are really rude and not helpful at all. This is not the first time I've been here to ask for advice, but when I do, they do not give direct instructions on how to do things, and it gets confusing. Better luck not asking at all! So I was trying to turn in my unofficial transcript, and all. When they looked it over, they told me it was not the right one. I was like, WTH!! What am I going to do now? All they said to me was, 50/50 % chance that they would accept it because it's hard to read it. This makes no sense! How is it hard to read, all you need is flip the pages and look for my transcript. It isn't rocket science. I feel like they don't even bother trying to help you. Don't even get my started with the teachers at this school, some of them are a joke. They're all easy A'S, but they do not get you the education you need. Especially, their science classes, super easy. Definitely recommend coming to this school to take it, easy to boost your GPA, other than that don't come here. Gosh!! My, my has this campus changed since I last attended it. They actually have covered parking now and the 700 building has been remodeled. I stopped in to check out the Women's Health Fair over the weekend and I was quite surprised at how nice this campus looks now. It might be because I had taken night classes before but I dunno. Chabot has a special place in my heart. Being a Haystack native, I've been here countless times over my lifetime. In elementary school, I'd tag along with my mom for the Saturday flea-markets. In high school I did concurrent enrollment and took a speech class that changed my life. Counselors got me through some hard times, and I re-discovered myself in Chabot's little theater after UC Davis. There is a wonderful diverse student body and a variety of programs to offer. I just got done completing a great Psych stats class that was a pre-req for my 2nd Masters program. Chabot helping me with improvements in my life :) read more

So far i love this place! The staff here are awesome and they can almost answer every question you throw at them. This place is clean and the classes that ime taking now are so much fun i should have gone here 1st. And they have free wifi! The reason why i give this place a 4 instead of 5 is that if you have a class at 9am you better get there at 820 so you can find parking cuz even tho theres a lot of space it does fill up really qickly! And that i wish they had more classes for animation 2d and 3d. I know they just have the one of each but its just the bear minimum. I wish they can add in 3 classes for each. read more

The most low class university I've attended so far. I can attest that Las Positas is 10x better than Chabot College. I wasn't able to attend a class because Chabot counselors messed up my prerequisite override (it took a week). Once I attended the first day of class the professor wasn't there, no words or anything ( Don't know if she was kidnapped or where the hell she is) so the class was cancelled. And finally after 4 days I received an announcement that the course will be taught by another lecturer, and they would have to change the schedule into 2 days instead of 1 day. Now I am fucked because they changed the schedule last minute, the add deadline is coming up in 2 days and it's the weekend. I am not saying that all of them are incompetent because some of them take their jobs seriously. This is just my personal take based on my experience. read more

People may not know that Chabot offers not only regular college courses, but also offers a community class program. I've been taking a community class (belly dance) for the past year and I'm loving it! Parking per day is $2 and there are a ton of space, some close some far. But during peak school season, expect there to be less available parking near the classrooms, so get there a bit early so you're not late. Their facilities, like the dance studio, gym, pool, tennis courts, all look clean and tidy. The women's locker room reminds me of high school because of the tiled floor and walls. read more

Through taking summer classes and some electives, I've had great the great pleasure of learning from some memorable professors. One is a Christian priest turned agnostic, one is a vice-president of the Green Party, another a political activist, and slew more are authors. There's a great diversity of teachers here that you'll be most likely end up with a good one; although I've certainly had a few horrifyingly bad ones here. The campus is on the dreadful side. I never eat at the cafeteria and the bookstore is very sparse. You're constantly reminded that you're in a community college, yet the students do this more than anything. I don't even know why some of the students even get out of bed. The library is actually okay. Their design section is actually a better than Hayward's libraries and the audio/visual section has a decent selection. Their computer lab in the graphic communications building is actual pretty good. They have a classroom full of Apple G4's and another photo lab with apple G4's. The computers have new graphics software. During lab hours they even have a faculty member who can help you if you need it. Chabot is a good place to find good teachers and average resources. Don't expect to be stimulated by the campus community (it's there if you look hard enough). You can't go wrong with the cheap classes. read more

Their counseling services are terrible. I called in during their open hours and they were closed. They said that their hours were from 8:30 to 3pm on Wednesday's and I called at 10:30. I tried to make an appointment for drop in and there was no receptionists at the desk. And when I finally did get a meeting it felt rushed and like they just wanted to be done with it. read more

This review is for the campus security and some staff So one day I was going to the main office to get a new parking permit after I lost mine, so decided to park in without the permit for just 10 min max, and the campus security put me a ticket (ticket is 35$). Anyways I thought that if I talked to them they would cancel the ticket, but no!!!!
