I am back here again for the Sterile Processing Technician refresher since I was not able to do my externship 2 years ago. The Refresher course is FREE to all returning students. So I'm taking advantage of it. Once I finish the class, I will update you all. Just an FYI... Cornerstone does not promise you a job. It's YOUR job to go out there and apply for a JOB after your externship. It's your determination and especially your "personality" that gets you the job. I hope y'all know...a lot of healthcare clinics/hospitals make you take a "personality" test first. So if you don't pass that...guess what? Apparently someone in Cornerstone administration is so desperate that they took my Yelp review (see below), deleted all the bad stuff, added some extra sentences that I *did not write*, threw in some typos, and put it on their testimonials page. With my name at the end. I didn't even know about this until another Yelper just brought it to my attention. Very unprofessional, Cornerstone. I've written to Cornerstone requesting that they delete "my" supposed testimonial from their website, as I never gave permission for them to alter and add to my review & then publish it on their testimonials page. I learned a lot here but I attended in 2010 and nobody in my class has been contacted back about an externship yet. It's been 11 years.. I will say the entire class passed our exam and received our licenses. But to my knowledge, nobody has kept up their credentials because we weren't offered any communication on how to do so, or any further training. We also didn't receive any hands on training but that might be different now. read more

SCAM! DO NOT GO HERE! SAVE YOUR $$$$ I signed up for online classes for Sterile Processing Technology in August 2018. I paid cash for my program and completed in 8 weeks time. I even passed my board exam in November 2018 with flying colors. No one ever called to follow up or inform me about externship. I called to follow up and ask about extern and I was told they didn't have any opportunities at that time and that I had to wait for the "next round", and so I waited. I called repeatedly to make sure I didn't miss the window for extern...I was emailed the packet for extern, I filled it out and turned it back in...only to hear nothing from anyone. I called daily - my calls went unanswered. I emailed everyone I had an email for - no reply. I tried calling again and finally got a hold of someone, when I explained that I've never heard from anyone and why is no one responding to my emails or left messages?! I was told "oh we called you and you declined an offer in San Francisco, so now you're at the bottom of the list." WTF?! NO ONE EVER CALLED ME!!! Such lies! I am pissed off, and furious! I wasted my money on this joke of a school. To date I still can't get ahold of anyone about extern opportunities. My calls go unanswered and my emails are probably not even opened. I've tired looking for a job, but no luck. Everyone wants experience that I don't have. Please read these comments carefully. This is not a reliable school to attend to and to spend money on. Teachers and staffs were incredibly nice, but as far as their job in updating their students is very poor. I initially spent 2800$ for the Sterile Processing Techincian Course, was able to pass and receive my certificate but was unable to fulfill externship experiences from the school. I graduated in June 2018, it is now May 2019 and I have yet to get a response on the externship. I've called multiple times, maybe 2-3 times a week, sent emails, left voicemails, visited the office and yet received no actual help regarding my externship. Mind you the deadline was July 2018. I went through all my vaccinations before the date and went through A LOT of trouble to get my documents signed from a Doctor to be pre-approved for my externship at Children Hospital of Oakland. Until a year later us (students) were told that they have moved to a different location recently. I don't think any of us knew, at least I didn't. You would think when a WORKING student is taking a lot of her time of day to communicate with the staffs in order to be placed in a better working environment through this course would be met. In reality this school is probably still a work in progress but I am very unhappy how DELAYED my externship was because I had a set plan to quit my current job to pursue my career in the medical field. Wouldn't you think that if that happened to you, you'd think this is a waste of money and time? I am very unhappy about this school. This school needs to be investigated. Are they accredited?? Do they operate under a religious exemption, thus loopholes?? What experience do the teachers really have?? The externship program is a mystery. I was made many promises with emails to prove it. As soon as you receive your certificate, they play games, then cut you off. OMG....where do I start? I started Cornerstone last Monday. I had the BEST instructor ever; Marie! She's caring and compassionate about her students' and teaching. On the other hand, I can't say the same about admissions. I was attending Cornerstone to get retraining due to a work related injury. So, my tuition was (getting) paid through workers' compensation. A few months ago, I was told that Cornerstone is registered with DOR-that was a lie because my counselor had to contact Toni several times-as always, she does not return calls. She's lazy!!!! Included in my tuition was: uniforms and my books. Today, was the second week of school and I have not received anything. Oh, if you ask for the loaner-get prepared for a photo copy of the chapter. That is not a damn loaner; it's photo copies. As I inquired as to why they did not pay for overnight or two day shipping for our books; I was told: "It cost too much." Really? When you pay for your education you want your materials on the first day. Cecilio and Roland are straight assholes! On another hand, I had reviewed all the yelp reviews prior to registration and class, yet, I decided to overlook the negative. However, everything that appears on yelp about this school is correct. Honestly, i know it said no refunds on deposit, but seeing that the classes hadn't started we tried asking if we could have a refund to help with a sudden death in the family. After several messages, 2 months later they left a very cold message saying absolutely no refunds not even for a death in the family. We found them very cold and uncaring and unprofessional. If I could give a zero star I would. Externship after passing the board exam is not guarantee!!!! They claimed at first that they have partnership with multiple hospitals, but it's all lies. They have a "waiting list" for externship. Your 200 hours that you're supposed to finish within a certain time frame will not be fulfilled. After that your certification will be worthless unless you find a job that hires you without any experience other taking the class itself (which is unlikely). If they did have externship available it's limited and they pick their favorites. After the class is done they will ignore you and will not answer your emails/phone calls. False advertisement. First and foremost Please research the position before spend money on a school. Second do not pick this school they do not help with placement at all and once you graduate they forget about you. The teachers are great and help you learn, the knowledge they have is good and will benefit you when you do get placed but the time in between just keep your books so you don't forget what you learned. read more

What they SHOULD NEVER promise is a GUARANTEE into an externship program. They CLAIM to have 100s of connections and that hospitals are waiting for candidates. Months and years later, no externship, no job relating to what u worked hard for and guess what, you're out thousands of dollars for this phony school. Don't get me wrong, some students lucked out and got into an externship program, but ask them if they got offered a job or if they would even recommend this place. The graduation ceremony consists of them talking about all their "successful" students and nothing even about the current students and their future. They try to brag and make students feel like they made the right choice by wasting their hard earned money there. I'd relate the ceremony to a super long sales pitch to attend Cornerstone College. Should I even mention how unorganized it was? One hour behind schedule, not everyone got their gown, if you graduated 2018, some got a 2017 tassle (if that matters to you, you spent so much money. They can't even afford to get the year right?) Long story short, this school makes promises and gives you the run around. They are there to collect your money, but not there to follow through. This is a great college for someone looking to start a career in Sterile Processing. After Looking at all the schools in the Bay Area offering sterile processing I zeroed down on this one and I have no regrets at all. The staff are so friendly and helpful and made me feel welcome. Despite the negative information I had about their clinical rotation program I was placed at a facility after my certification exam. I have no complaints about my time at Cornerstone and I would definitely recommend to anyone looking to go into SPD. read more

Been 2 years and still nothing. Wife went to school for dialysis and she passed with flying colors. She was told she was the top of her class. We went to the school over and over for help they brushed her off and told her. How come your on class mates have jobs and u can't find one? Only because we weren't Filipino they wouldn't help us. But they helped the other students because I dialyze at a clinic myself and met a few students that had just finished from this shitty school and they pretty much said the same thing that they only help Filipinos..and I know you deleted my last post because you add your own feedbacks with different names..this school only calls back when they want a payment... read more

I took their course as a DIALYSIS TECHNICIAN in year 2013, right after I got laid off from my work, I received a separation pay from my old work and I decided to use that money to take a training through the help of going back to school. I looked and inquired using the internet sites and ended up in Cornerstone's website. I got so excited that I'm going back to school again at Cornerstone. Don't get me wrong the people are good, they are helpful. Unfortunately, in school, all we do is read the books and go through your dialysis machine training. After I finished my Dialysis training and passed my test. I learned more in self-studying in library and using EducationPortal.com You will get support and help from them but you have to do your own studying to learn. In order to pass the CCHT-Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician Exam, you have to study hard constantly. That's how I passed. Did I get a job right away? It has been (1) One year or so, I still did not get any job in this career. You have to have good training as a dialysis tech in order to get a job. Cornerstone will not help you to get a job, that's not part of your contract with them. I think it is a waste of time and effort that I'm not able to use my knowledge in Dialysis. I'm very eager to get a job as a Dialysis Tech but until now, no one contacts me nor interview me. I should have listened to the comments and reviews of yelpers! read more

The CNA instructor, Gerald, was by far the worst teacher I've ever had. He was rude, obnoxious, and was not discreet about favoring some students over others. Worst of all: he was ABUSIVE toward some of his patients!! There was one patient (male, very frail) who did not want my instructor to assist him in the shower room. He would yell "Rape!!!" so loud everyone could hear him down the hall, yet no one did anything. My instructor basically forced him to endure anyway and laughed about the fact that the patient called it rape. He later taunted him in front of us. The patient was so angry that all he did was curse at him. Our instructor even described an incident where this patient tried to punch him. He basically told us this story as a funny anecdote, because the patient was too frail to actually hurt him. Why anyone would pick on someone who is sick and deteriorating (he was losing a lot of weight) is beyond me. A similar situation happened with another patient, this time female. Mind you, these are patients in a rehabilitation facility. Some of them had dementia, but most were mentally sound including this woman. So he walks into her room and says "Okay miss, time for you to take a shower. So get undressed, please." Naturally, she starts yelling at him - and who wouldn't?? She has NO idea who he is. She has never seen him before in her life. So she panics. How does my instructor respond? He turns to me and says "Take her clothes off." I refuse. Next thing we know, she's running down the hall screaming "He told me to take my clothes off!!" If I had known better, I would have reported him. Unfortunately I was new to the health care field. Knowing what I know now, I would've contacted the authorities in a heart beat. If Gerald is still teaching there, I would NOT recommend attending this school. He treats his patients (and in some ways, his students) like a chore to be over and done with, as opposed to a human being. On top of that, he is physically and verbally abusive (yes forcing someone to undress and bathe in front of you is PHYSICAL ABUSE. Some would even call it sexual assault). He's truly a horrible nurse and consequently a horrible instructor. Oh and I almost forgot!! He helped us cheat during our CPR (BLS) class. We didn't take the written test at all - he just told us they'd give us all a pass! I'm sure the AHA would LOVE to hear about that! read more

To make things short and honest. Do not waste your money and time with this scam. Here's the honest truth and details: The main guy cecilio Lorenzo was very helpful .. right until he collected all the money ($2500). Then it was difficult to get ahold of him . There's no hands on training at all. Only book work. Small class of 5-10. My instructor was very nice and helpful. She got sick and had to go to the hospital, Mr Lorenzo fired her just 2 weeks before we graduated. Then they tried to fail our class of 5 so we would have to come back next season and repay for school again. Then they tried to make us miss the deadline to take the board exam. But luckily our instructor had already prepped us well before she got Sick ....and we pressed on and all passed. Then we all passed the board exam. Time for externship and BAM! Cannot get ahold of the school for 7-8 months. Finally I decided to act like a new student trying to enroll and finally they called me back. Hmmm I wonder why ? Maybe only to scam a brand new student for $2500? Anyway they called me back and I told them who I I really am ... my situation... and back to the bone yard I go. Almost a year later I sit here and wished it was just a bad dream and wished I woulda read the reviews before I called them last year. Guys don't be desperate for the short term easy way out , take your time find the right school and make it worth it. This school is not it. They are a complete scam in my opinion. Cornerstone was the best school!!! I'm so glad I attended their SPT program. The orientation class was most excellent. We were warned in the beginning if we had any speeding tickets, police reports, used illegal drugs, etc, that those would hinder us from getting a job in the medical field. He continued by saying that we should leave and get our tuition refunded because "we are not that kind of school!" That remark was impressive and says a lot about the integrity of the school. Most institutions would have mentioned that at the very end of the program, or not mention it at all, which would allow you to completely fail. Cornerstone has been nothing but a wonderful school. They were all about excelling their students. I've just finished my externship at a wonderful hospital placed by Cornerstone. I had such a great time learning. I learned something new everyday, like small details that made a difference. Everyone was so patient! It couldn't have gone any better. Now I'm confident I can land a new job! Yeay! Important key points for students to remember: No attitude!!! I say that with sincerity. Schools and, especially, hospitals don't like it so therefore you will not succeed. As a student, be humble, be coachable, practice great work ethics, and respect the school and externship program. People will remember you. SPTs are a small, tight-knit community. I recently graduated and passed the board exam the first time at 58, due to the schools dedicated training and the preparation for the board exam was essential to passing the board exam. I started two weeks late, they helped me catch up and do well. Thanks!! The externship program is great but the facilities may be close or be a distance at times for some but for the prospects of a good paying job one should adjust to the travel till the externship is over. I had already received my degree from college but couldn't find a place to start my degree. I decided to try Cornerstone International College to start a backup career, passed and graduated from that class. I took the Sterile Processing Tech course in spring 2015, was lucky to get a spot in the externship program around September and found work after the externship. The teachers were nothing but super helpful and wanted you to graduate. The externship was a great experience although there was a waiting period due to some hospitals and clinics hesitating to take in students specially in the Greater Sacramento Metropolitan region. read more

I just want to start off by saying the teacher I had was excellent. Always so understanding. Never left a student behind if he or she did not understand the material. And made learning fun. The office staff are so unbelievably unprofessional. I agree with the previous posting that it just seems so unorganized at times. I had an appointment with one of their staff members, but when I arrived she kept stating she was about to leave and that I almost missed her. How could I miss her when I arrived 15 mins early to an scheduled appt?! Not only that I've been out of school for almost a year now and have yet to get a externship. Don't waste your money here!! My old coworker referred me to this program. So I though it was a well trusted school. Is been the most horrible experience ever, they were so easy to contact and polite when I told them I wanted to register for the class. It all went down hill after the class begun. I ended up having to do the online course.The format of the online class was not helpful. I tried several time to call and email the professor which it says online that is the "CEO Cecilio" when I mention that he acted like he didn't know what I was talking about. I even email the person who helped me register for the course and none of them ever reached back to contact me. All the phone calls I received was regarding PAYMENTS! Why would I do any payments when I'm obviously asking for help and have questions about the course, and I can't even get an email or phone call from the "professor". The last call I made I told them I was canceling the course I told him about the email I had send several times and like before he didn't know what I was talking about. He said someone was going to call me back about the situation 2 weeks later i'm here writing this review . By the way in that phone call he still has the guts to tell me I owe money. Mind you after all this months trying to reach them, I didn't even touch the online course after that first chapter I did. I'm so done with this school. Cornerstone international college must be stopped!!!!! I have officially received a fraudulent document from this school granting me CONTINUING EDUCATION UNITS for the RN refresher course. My certificate of completion was not signed by my actual instructor (my instructor refuses to sign any documents for the college as Cecilio refuses to give her rightfully earned passed due paycheck-very understandable and I support my instructor's decision). Instead, the signature is one that is not legible and is of an unknown source. On top of this, the certificate states that the program director of the course is the said Lidia S. Ahumada. Please I urge you to search this name on the BRN RN license verification. You will find that her license status is DELINQUENT and has been expired since 2012. Funny how that works because I started the course in February 2014. $2500 for this course and they promised to place us in an acute care facility for our clinical. Boy oh boy how I wish I read these reviews before signing with this school: same situation happened with my class - we were told last minute that we didn't have any clinical placement. When we finally did get placement it was in a nursing home. Umm.... Why would I pay some school $2500 to place me in a nursing home for clinical experience when I can just go in and apply at a nursing home and get paid??? (Which by the way has happened WITHOUT mention of the RN refresher course on my resume). Plainly what I'm saying is that I took this course to help me attain employment in a hospital NOT a nursing home. I won't tell anyone whether or not to attend this school. The proof is in the pudding. We nurses are researchers... Do some research. Assess, evaluate and reassess and then plan accordingly based on your collected data and observations. They offered an LVN program which was a scam. It wasn't accredited by the board of nursing. I wish i could've looked into it more. I would avoid this school. I attended in Nov - Dec 2012 for the 5-week Sterile Processing Technician course. The cost was about $2500 including books. The entire class is geared towards passing the state certification exam; in fact it is little more than a test preparation course. I completed the class with flying colors, then I also passed the certification exam. It is now nine months since my class was completed and I have heard nothing regarding externships, which are 10-week unpaid on-the-job training sessions at various Bay Area hospitals. Whenever I contact the placement coordinator she always tells me to contact her later, but I finally gave up. The classmates that I have talked to have not heard anything about externships either. Without hands-on experience you will not get hired because hospitals want someone with more than just book knowledge. They want someone who can come in on day one and perform the job. The bottom line with Cornerstone College is this: if you already work in a hospital, or have connections in a hospital, then Cornerstone might be right for you. You can get certified then ease into an entry-level SPT job using your connections. If you are new to the medical field and do not know anyone in a hospital HR department, then Cornerstone College will not help you. If you are considering Cornerstone College, be sure to ask lots of questions about externships. How is it determined who receives them? How many are available? What percentage of graduates receive externships or paid jobs? Do not accept vague assurances like I did. I feel like I wasted a perfectly good $2500. read more

School was great Miss Marie was my Teacher and she's amazing. Took the test for the first time and pass it. Ron helped me with my externship and so as Mr. Cecilio at El Camino Hospital. It did took them a little long to put me but that's because of my schedule and everything. Now I work as a Sterile Processing Tech at UCSF. if u put ur mind to it and keep on updating and get ur paperworks together as soon as u can u will get it. I went through their Sterile Processing course in January. it was 5 days a week 8 hours a day of lectures from the book word for word. its something i could have done myself. they lied saying they had contracts in the sacramento area when they did not. i am still waiting for the externship they promised. they told me if i wanted an externship i needed to arrange my own which i thought was totally bogas. i would not recommend going here if you dont live in the area cause unless you are in the bay area they are not willing to help you out. i cant get them to return emails and phone calls. its absolutely ridiculous there were also a lot of things on the certification exam that we never covered in class. read more

The hope was he was going to be able to move right in to work post externship. Well, 2 years later and still not working as a sterile tech. They made empty promises, making us believe he would find work quickly. They sure were good at collecting our tuition of 600 or so a week. But once the schooling ended, they disappeared and no help with finding a job. He did most of his school work online and at home independently, no help from the school. What a waste of money and energy. He called to ask for volunteer and externship again to try and improve his skills and have better options to apply. Nope. They said they could not help. I attended here for a sterile processing tech class. Was very nervous to take the class I didn't know what to expect. I knew it would be hard because I work fulltime and was going to be going to class everyday after work. I took the class with Mike first time instructor. He was really great and super understanding and helpful. He wasn't there just to teach, but I felt like he really cared about me succeeding. I was in a small class which I enjoyed because my classmates became more like family. Ron which is in my class at the time is now working for the school. He has been extremely helpful in every step of the way. Also in placing me in my externship and rather quickly after becoming certified. And thank you to everyone in the Cornerstone. I would not suggest this school to ANYONE. They are extremely unorganized and an absolute head ache to deal with. I signed up for a CNA class, they did not have dates for the class so I waited and waited and waited. Eventually I had to cancel taking the class with them because I had other things to plan for my summer and no dates for this class. It has now been two months and I call once a week, STILL have not received my refund check. They are a HORRIBLY ran company and I hear their teachers are inadequately trained. read more

The only good things I experienced was the instructor I recieved for the sterile processing course and the bits and peices of help I recieved from staff members I repeatedly had to remind and pestere to get anything done,reguarding the things they are paid to get done for me. In order to get any information regaurding anything such as, externships or scrubs or the board exam, you must email the staff members yourself and find out the information on your own, because they leave you in the dark and don't give you any clue as to what steps to take next. In fact when some class mates and I showed up at our assigned hospital for our externship we were told that the school had not contacted them in over a week and they did not know what was going on and were not sure if they could take us until the next week, because of the lack of communication. Basically the school had messed up so badly that they jeopardized our externship. Not only that but how are we as students supossed to come into a hospital and make a good impression when the hospital already has a bad opinion of the school and is going to base us on that opinion? Bottom line, DO NOT GO TO THIS SCHOOL!!!!!!!!! I do not even consider this school a college or an institute of higher education I consider it a joke! I'm actually ashamed I went here and money was wasted and time was wasted on me going here. Do not make the same mistake I did by going to this school. read more

Don't take the Sterile Processing Class you will not get a job!!!!!!!!! know matter what they tell you the Bay area is flooded with S.P.D. students You need 1 year experience to get a job. read more
