One of our favorite libraries. The librarians & helpers here are always quick to help, knowledgeable and really good at their job. Shelves are well stocked and they have a varied selection of books. I always find an interesting book to buy in their book sale section. We love spending some time here on the weekends finding new books for our kiddos. Our kids love to browse through the 'Lucky Day' collection. Spacious isles, plenty of computers to run a quick search or to place a hold on a book, overall a very peaceful and quiet library. Ample parking and, if you're lucky, you might spot a turkey moving about in the parking lot!

Renewed my lost card today. What a nice space for so many of us depending on what hits the spot for you. The busily kids' area. The quieter Junior library with its easily accessible online catalogue or the vast other sections. We are so lucky.

Great service, good products, comfy ambiance. The hours have shrunk lately from careless spending in the city though.

Livermore (beyond the Fairy home and spooky themed LFL) was almost entirely a disappointment in the type of books the honey and I like to read. This location held an Encyclopedia Brown book, which was my favorite young detective series when I was a kid (next to Nancy Drew of course) and a wonderful selection of young adult and adult novels. It was so refreshing to end the day on a Book Box not chock full of cheap children's titles and even though the wording on the box needed some love, sometimes something super disreputable boxes (as we found in another Little Free Library) can hold amazing things. Yay Little Free Library!

This very rude woman on the phone interrupted me and said "WE KNOW WHERE IT IS" "POLICE & FIRE DEPARTMENT IS ALREADY ON THE WAY" Then she hanged up on me. Wtf... Police told me not to ask for help again getting my things. I had 10 minutes total to get a box of items. My personal identification documents were not included. I was told by the legal system police showing up to help me get my socks and underwear traumatized the kids. I went back alone to the house 4 days later to get my social security card. Didn't ask cops for help for civil standby since they said don't ask us again. I ended up with a restraining order for getting my social security card. Should have asked the police for help that day but they said don't call us again. To this day I have not been able to get my personal belongings from my old home. The legal system allows for stay at home moms who are running away from abuse to be punished more by not allowing them rights to their personal belongings. Police and court does not recognize this kind of abuse in the legal system. It's a financial type of abuse lots of stay at home moms like myself experience but no one cares. They don't care that moms in Pleasanton might be abused and inevitably rich people win over the less advantaged party in civil cases. Police ignore that problem. Meanwhile when I asked police to investigate prostitution, which they say is illegal, it falls on deaf ears. They knows it common practice here and ignore it because it's the oldest business and it benefits lots of rich people. Yet it's a crime to participate in on paper. I get a restraining order for going to my old house to get my things. Fine. Meanwhile some people can participate in prostitution and the legal system ignores it and just says to me you have anger issues and you need to behave. Being a woman in this city in this state in this legal system is a lot like what my family's country probably is like. That's Pakistan. Shariah law run Pakistan. Women who are abused and who try to leave are punished within the legal system.

A visitation room is just on the right and you can visit a good part of the day. For the visitors though, this is as far as you go. For the prisoners, they pass the control room and enter what looks like a junior college campus. Many buildings spread out with open space. Just to the right is the chapel that serves all denominations. Just beyond that is a gym where the women take a variety of classes such as spinning or Zumba. It also has pottery workshop, a library, and a knitting/sewing room. There is also weight lifting available. An outdoor rec area includes tennis courts and a track. Beyond that are the main dorms. These are small rooms with 3 bunks. No bars on these rooms just a solid wooden door. No doors on the sink and toilet. Each of the dorms has television, an open area, and email access. There are also communal washing machines. There are opportunities for work. Kitchen, grounds, maintenance or a Unicor telephone facility. The cells do have showers which you can use 3 x a week. There was a building for education classes. The women are required to work towards a GED. Some make it some don't. The grounds are open and plenty of space to walk around. The geese were all over the place and there were at least two resident cats. Don't try getting out though. A tall fence with electronic monitors and 11 strands of razor sharp barbed wire prevent that. I must admit that the facilities were better than expected. But not a place anyone wants to spend time at.
