We finally decided to check out the Tracy branch library. I've driven by a million times and never checked it out. The exterior of the library and the surrounding park are fairly nice. There's a rose garden, some really big trees, lots of lawn and an overall relaxing serene feel. When you walk inside, it's apparent that this library needs a face lift. Fluorescent lighting, old carpet and yellowish paint on the walls. All of the computers were caution taped off and out of order. With that said, if you're stopping in for books or a place to sit with your laptop, they seemed to have a good variety of both books, and seating areas. My daughter loved the large dinosaur in the center of the kids section. The perfect enticing addition for a toddler! read more

This is an older library in downtown Tracy, and on the hot hot day we visited, it was a cool relief to stop by. ‍ Everything is older in there, but all pretty well maintained. The children's section is good sized and colorful. There's a good amount of books and half a dozen computers for kids to learn and play on. Next to the kids area is the community room which was having a Friends of the Library sale, everything was 5 for $1! The selection was big, but the items all quite dated or not really the besr stuff, hence the price hehe. The rest of the library is pretty big too, the adult section is large, I didn't see a teens section but it was probably there. Tons of natural light from the windows up high in the main section. It's a quiet and serene place to read and relax. Only thing is the bathrooms could only be accessed by asking the security guard lady to open it for 1 person to use at a time, 15 minute time limit. But they were clean for that reason, not allowing for open access. Overall, this is a decently good library in Tracy that's part of the San Joaquin-Stockton library system. read more

Tracy Branch Library was the next stop on my library tour. While in the area, I needed to get some work done so I stopped by this library. It's located right near downtown so it's super convenient. You could practically walk there from downtown, but there's also plenty of parking right up front. The library is not huge. There is a good amount of tables and desks for people to use, but there isn't a whole lot to browse. It does look older and not as modern. The staff is great though. They have a few people right up front so you're greeted immediately when you walk in. Honestly, when it gets down to it, if you just need somewhere with good wifi, a quiet space, and work resources, this library gets the job done. read more

We decided to visit Tracy and the Tracy library since my daughter collects and blogs about books. I was amazed at the selection of books for sale in the Patrons' book sale room! What a fun selection. I was just intending to get some chapter books for the class I teach, but I walked out with piles of other books as well! The cookbooks for sale were wonderful! I saw many titles I had wanted on Amazon- but which were too expensive. Only 1 dollar for hardbacks- of any size! 50 cents for soft cover and children's books were on sale at 4 for a dollar. Masks are required and the employees are helpful and well masked. Buying books here is self service-. There is plenty of parking out front and handicapped access is good. We plan to visit again soon since we had such a positive experience! read more

Oh how I love a nice library especially for kids... unfortunately I wish I could say that for Tracy public library. Tracy is such a great town with amazing spots and people who live in this town... Tracy has to enforce on making this public library more modern and appealing for the people. A great ambiance makes a huge difference when trying to enjoy a great book, to study, research or simply a place to take the kids & introduce them to something other than technology. read more

I have to say-this library has improved so much over the years. A lot of people complain about how outdated it in but no one wants to contribute or help out. Donate, volunteer, or simply check out books to keep funding going so it can improve further. I go here regularly(maybe once or twice a month) and I usually stop by the book sale on my way out every time. The book sale is SUPER cheap by the way. I always leave with a handful of books for my child and it's rarely over $5. Also, I just have to add that the staff that work here now are so friendly and helpful. It's like night and day compared to this library 5 years ago! read more

I like that they have the children's section separate from the teen/adult section. My kids were excited about the large graphic novel area. Last time I visited some of the smaller children were having a hard time staying still and had busy little feet. I was happy to see the staff allow the kids to be kids, and made sure everyone had a coloring page to help keep them busy. read more

You would think that libraries are supposed to be a calm, nice and quiet environment that you can get your things done and not be bothered. However, once school is done and class is done for the day, the kids who frequent here and wait for their ride (or just loiter around) in and outside the place can get very rowdy and loud and it can get very irritating at times. Aside from that, people who works here were very helpful everytime I needed something that I couldn't find myself. I can reserve online and pick it up with ease. This place just needed some firm rules and a little updating with their exterior. read more

This library is alright. It's a shame more kids don't go read and check out books like we used to when we were kids. It has plenty of room to do homework and have quiet time when reading or writing. I used the public computers to apply for jobs online. One thing i would suggest is they install cameras and provide mics for zoom interviews companies are doing nowadays. read more

We got stuck at home and my kids forgot that they had library books, next thing you know, we got threats from collection agency asking us to pay over $70 for the books. They didn't even give us a chance to make it right or return the books. read more

The Tracy location library is cleaning and convenient with a beautiful Park right next door. We have many activities in a plethora of books available for check out as well as online check out. One of the drawbacks is they can't do anything over the phone you have to do it all in person as far as signing up paying late fees or any other services. read more

I love our little library. The variety isn't all that vast, but I end up finding what I want for the most part. Whenever I put items on hold they are quick to get them ready. When we check out DVD's some have been scratched, but other than that we haven't had issues. Everyone is nice and helpful. read more

Great library. Friendly staff, awesome bookstore area with 25 cent paperbacks! #steal. Nice quiet study area and a park next door to boot. Though the book options are somewhat limited, they do give you the option to borrow from Manteca, Lathrop, and Stockton libraries. I will definitely be back. read more

No stars.... Nothing good to say......I started going to Tracy Library in 1984. I've had a few ups and downs with them but never like today. I am a Special Education teacher in Tracy. We did our end of the year BarB-Q at the park by the library. We had about 80 Special students excited and having a good time. I walked one of my male students to the bathroom. I am female so I waited in the lobby. While I was waiting I noticed a pile of books and games and. Videos. I picked up a video and immediately a little security guard approached me and told me I wasn't allowed to touch anything in that pile. I told her I was a teacher and I was just looking. She then referred me to another lady that said those items will be for sale eventually then I could look at them. I asked if they ever had free books because my class sure could use some, she said no there are a lot of classes that need stuff. She and the little guard were very rude. So I went back to waiting for my student. By this time several other students came in to use the rest room. A lady I assume works there came out for #3 insult... Told me to take my conversations outside because she could hear everything. The library could avoid this issue by closing the inside doors... But wait... They can't because they have to be rude to people looking at the mound of books on the floor that need to be put away. Here's an idea... How about someone get up and actually work and get the books put away then there won't be a need for a rude security guard... People won't accidentally touch something we aren't supposed to and noise in the bathroom area won't be heard so other rude people won't gripe at other people having a good day at the park at an end of year BBQ for special Ed students... Thanks Tracy Library...you used to be nice. I am not a thief nor am I somebody trying to cause trouble and finally I am the teacher sitting outside the restroom waiting for my student. No.... I cannot take my conversation outside lady. read more

I want to give this library a bad review, but in reality, anything the library is lacking is due to the city's ignorance of the wealth that libraries hold. I hope you guys get a chance to show your full potential - especially considering all the children in the area. read more

The library and park are nice enough, one star for each. The environment is also good for a library, HOWEVER, the Internet is terribly, terribly slow. This is a necessity for any 3rd-space and makes this library much less appealing. read more

Brought my 16 month old daughter here to read to her and allow her to play with other children. A child was crying because my daughter was playing with the toys, so I picked my daughter up to read to her instead. My girl started crying when I took her away and within 30 seconds the library security guard came complaining to me. I decided to leave after feeling unwelcome. I went back to explain that I was attempting to calm my daughter down, and they just replied " well it's a library" I've been to many different libraries and they don't treat crying babies like this. Especially not after 30 seconds of crying. The library needs better policies or better training for their employees. As a parent if my child doesn't calm down within a few minutes, I would leave as courtesy for other people. But this was not fair, and didn't even give me a chance to calm down a crying baby. As a father, instead of letting my child use an iPad I brought her in to read to her. But I guess the library had a zero tolerance policy towards babies. read more

Small, outdated, dingy, often smelly library. I do not recommend using the restrooms here. They are on the outside of the library and are very dark. With all the homeless that hang out around the park and area, you never know what, or who will be in those bathrooms. Why wont this City with 90,000 plus residents update this sad little library already? They say a city's library is a reflection of the city in which it's located. If this is true, the City of Tracy should be mortified. But then again, look around the city itself and perhaps it isn't so out of place? The Staff is Friendly & Helpful, but people, even adults, are quite noisy, & haven't been brought up to know that you are supposed to whisper in a library. It is impossible to study, read, or take a proctored exam, due to the noise. read more
