If you simply follow the instructions on this paper, you can passively donate to the library while shopping on Amazon.

I have to say-this library has improved so much over the years. A lot of people complain about how outdated it in but no one wants to contribute or help out. Donate, volunteer, or simply check out books to keep funding going so it can improve further. I go here regularly(maybe once or twice a month) and I usually stop by the book sale on my way out every time. The book sale is SUPER cheap by the way. I always leave with a handful of books for my child and it's rarely over $5. Also, I just have to add that the staff that work here now are so friendly and helpful. It's like night and day compared to this library 5 years ago!

Here is the box and pile of books I innocently looked at! Wow!! There should be a big sign that says DONT TOUCH

This is by far one of my favorite libraries in all of East Contra Costa and the San Joaquin region…read more I used to come here often on weekends to study when I was in grad school, and I'm honestly jealous of Mt House residents who have access to a library like this. It's top-tier -- great technology, plenty of different spaces to choose from, and it's easy to find a quiet area without a lot of noise or distractions. The ability to reserve a room is also simple and convenient. As far as I remember from a couple years ago, you didn't even need a library card just to come in and use the space, which I also appreciated. The staff has always been friendly and helpful, and I've never had a bad experience here -- not with staff, patrons, or maintenance. I also really respect that they're open on the weekends. Libraries like this are exactly what communities should have and what other areas should model.

We enjoyed the lovely soft furniture, baby board books, and countless puzzles and toys to play with. The Children's area has multiple seating areas and it was nice to have space to spread out with my toddler. The staff was very friendly and the library itself is in a great area next to a park and playground you can visit before or after you get some books. We will definitely be going back the next time we are in the area.

They have used and brand new books, but buying used that are still in in mint condition and low price is amazing. We were told that they accept used books of any kind and will get a lifetime credit that never expires. Once you get a credit and buys a used book, the price will be less 50% from the written price. This is an awesome deal. We will surely come back here.

They just don't have too many bookstores left like this one. As the name suggests, you can bring your gently used books in and they will keep a record of them, and you will receive a discount of roughly half off of whatever you decide to buy in exchange for bringing in your old books. This turns out to be a great value considering the good condition and broad variety of the books that they carry. We can always find something good to read, and the price is definitely always easy on the pocketbook. The lovely people who work here are very well informed. I was looking for a classic by Pearl S Buck, and she knew exactly where it was located in the store. I have confidence in these guys, and I know that I can check with them before I go look elsewhere. A must see for any avid reader or bibliophile.

Lots of outlets available as well in case you need to plug your laptop in somewhere. Other highlights: -Small bookstore with items at super reasonable prices (proceeds go back to the library) -Maker space -Events for teens/kids + author talks and cultural performances -Group study rooms (4) -"Cafe"-type space where foods/drinks are allowed The books available are well-curated and if there's anything you want that they don't have, you can typically get it through their interlibrary loan program + pick it up in the "holds" section. I've only ever come here on Saturdays + on one weekday evening for an author talk, so it's been relatively quiet/I can't speak to the noise level otherwise. I'm so glad this place exists! :]

While I wasn't able to look around the entire library, it was very clean and welcoming. The staff was okay, but I did not have much interaction with them as I was focused on our baby. The parking lot is a bit small for the events they hold, so it's possible you'll need to park down the end of the adjacent park if you get there a little late. But all in all, it was a lovely visit. We do plan to go back again, I'd like to personally go when there are no events to see how quiet would be for studying.
