The lazy fat & sarcastic woman that works at the front desk & answers phones all day knows very well (because I cried & had panic attacks to her multiple times) that my truck they towed away was the only thing I had left of my father. I called regularly to make sure that my truck was ok and she made me feel like an animal. It felt like I lost my dad all over again. She thought it was just an old ford truck. She purposefully made the process of getting my truck back as much hell & torture as she could. She made every step as difficult & as humiliating as possible. they kept it for 2 weeks and made me pay $1,600 to get it back.. I asked if there was any way I could get a discount, she laughed and said if you come get it today it'll be cheaper than if you keep waiting. What a disgusting comment to say to a customer in distress? Great 1st time experience. I had hit something on 238 and it resulted in 2 flat tires at 6am. I called Duarte's because my employer uses them quite a bit. I believe I had spoke with their before/after hours service because the lady that answered the phone was very pleasant and helpful given the reviews I have read about the front desk person being rude. She took my information and said that a driver would be out in 30-40min and to make sure I stayed in the vehicle and to be safe - considering my nerves were shot from the event, this was very kind of her. Danny showed up 35min later and was very kind and helpful as well. Loaded my car very respectfully and very quickly and dropped off at the tire shop. He quickly took my information and said they would bill my insurance company since I had roadside coverage. He put my mind at ease and the experience was very pleasant and speedy. Illegally dumped an RV on our street, blocking access to a business's driveway onto a street; the woman on the phone very rudely lied about San Leandro PD telling them to do so. The driver was laughing and palling around with the occupant of the RV. We have enough issues in Oakland without other cities sending us their trash. What a terrible experience to have a car stolen and then get a call from the police that it was towed to a place in San Leandro. Fortunately, the service at Duarte's was so efficient and painless considering that the car was completely totaled. They worked with AAA seamless, the customer service person was friendly and expedited all the paperwork. I got to "visit" the car and grab a few personal items and then just walked away letting Duarte and AAA do all the heavy lifting. This made a terrible experience more tolerable, THANKS!! read more

They really set themselves apart from any tow company I know, and trust, I get towed a lot. I have a fleet of over 40 vans. Their prices are fair, the ladies working are pleasant and kind. I had 3 vans towed all at once. 2 by them and the other by a not so nice tow company who shall remain nameless. (You suck though!) I had to amnesty all 3. They did right by me. We were in a jam trying to get our container moved. 1st company came by and couldn't even do it because they had the wrong equipment, 2nd company wanted to charge us absurd pricing, plus a contract, plus a security deposit, and a bunch of other rigamarole. This is my go to tow company! I have called them throughout the years and they tend to have the best prices they typically charge $75/ 3 miles and I usually don't need them for more miles than that I'm sure you can negotiate with them if you need to go further than 3 miles. They also provide services to put on a spare tire which they charge $55. Not bad considering the circumstance. They only take cash or credit. read more

These people at Duarte are crooks. DO NOT USE THEIR SERVICE. Today, my mom had the misfortune to get into an accident and, unfortunately, the cops decided to use Duarte to tow the car to their lot. I called this morning to ask about the fees, including the daily storage cost. The lady I spoke on the phone with quoted me $300 ($200 for the towing, $100/day for storage). Well, since it was under my brother's name and it was police impounded, he had to be there to get the car out. After extensive discussions between me and my brother, we decided to just sign over the car to Duarte, since the car is totaled and it'll be more of a headache to get rid of it after taking it out from their lot. My brother gets to the towing place and the lady, all of a sudden, quoted him $400, but she could knock out $100 if he signs over his car. How did the quote change from $300 to $400 all of a sudden?!!! My brother should have only ended up paying $200. It's official now that these folks at Duarte have no integrity, no common decency, and are crooks of the worst bunch. Don't use their service. Giving you fair warning is the least I could do for my fellow Yelpers. read more

We had the unfortunate experience of our truck being stolen. This company towed it when it was found. They had it for three days. Between the tow co. And the Police department they let it sit and didn't call is for at least a day or two. Upon arrival they charged us $500 and then when we were going to have AAA tow it home they charged us another $65 to bring off the lot to the street. They had no empathy, even laughing and taking their time to move the truck. I will never use this company and would not recommend them. It felt very shady. read more

Duarte's towing to the rescue!! My wife and I were stranded in the middle of 880 NB with our tire blown out on a car that doesnt come with a spare tire. After calling our insurance for roadside assistance they assigned us to Cal State towing and told us they were the fastest in time and ETA of 90 mins. We waited.... but they never came. I called Cal State and they said they had to pick up another person in the Livermore area and said to give the driver another 45 mins to get to you... WTF. So we thought enough was enough and found Duarte's on Yelp. So glad I called them and they came within 20mins and dropped us off at the dealer. The process with them was quick and reliable. Sanleandro police have left rundown cars on the street way pas 72 hours i have called to remove, My vehicle was towed right after the 72 hour because it has value.. they dont take rundowns because it cost there insurance everyday.. going after people that have some money is discrimination. My Dad had his car towed by Duarte's - so when my Element broke down and I needed a tow, he gave me their card. Whoever answered the phone was extremely helpful and reassuring. The driver arrived promptly, was very courteous and helpful, as well. He took great care in loading the car, drove it to Pep Boys, and dropped it off right where they told him to. He picked it up right around City Hall, and the tow to Pep Boys was $60. Great service, great price -- have added their card to my wallet, as well! read more

these people are AWFUL. if i could give 0 stars i would. I was in an accident the day prior and my arm is in a sling and i had told the girl at the front desk i was hurt and if my mom could gather my things from my car since i CANNOT LIFT ANYTHING. she said she would ask her manager who completely ignored what i had said and just opened the door and motioned for me to go into the yard. i had asked her if my mom could grab my things because i could not lift anything and she had bags. she just stared back at me with an annoyed look at her face like i was asking her if she could do it herself. she replied with what are you asking me do you need bags. i said once again my mom has the bags and if she could get my things for me SINCE I WAS INJURED. she stormed off and said "i'll just get you a trash bag it'll be faster than dealing with this". when i had gathered what i needed and left behind a lot of stuff i simply couldn't carry she kept yelling at me if i wanted it. i was so fed up with this woman i just left behind a lot of my things. shame on this woman. read more

Duarte's is awful. This company towed our car a total of three blocks, held it for an hour and then charged $225! Generally, a tow costs $50-$60 for a hookup fee and another $1-3 per mile. A company that takes advantage of the community in this way is shameful. read more

Moving a cargo container: I called to make an appointment with them the day before to move three cargo containers that I have had in the same place for about 12 years. The driver gets there this morning. Over time since I first placed them the road has changed, the trees have grown and the driver they sent was dubious about scratching up his new truck but he admitted that if he couldn't do it then not many could. So with some gentle persuasion we got him to try to do it. About 10 minutes into loading the 40 foot conex box onto his special trailer a freak accident occurs and he breaks his leg!! I take him to the hospital and while he is there getting x-rayed he calls his most competent guy to get the truck and finish the job.!! I wait till his family comes to get him at the hospital and sure enough when I get back to the jobsite Danny is loading the container up. I spend the rest of the afternoon watching him carefully load and unload my three containers and placing them five inches apart, parallel, and exactly where I want them to the inch. Yes, I was impressed by the driver but also the trailer was state of the art, had a sliding axle, and maybe two more axes of movement, plus remote controls...I haven't seen anything else quite like it. In summary these guys are capable and tough minded but also carefull. Perhaps a little more expensive as they charge by the hour- but well worth it as I found out today. read more
