This steakhouse has a beautiful layout and excellent views. I have never seen such an extensive wine menu in my life, it was over 40 pages long. Your order is taken by the waitress for the starters, sides, drinks and dessert and the butcher takes the order for the steak. We opted for 300g of Austrian ribeye and 300g Austrian fillet both medium rare, with a starter of steak tartar and side of Viennese mushrooms. Once our orders were sent in, out came a warm bread with salted herby butter. Then another appetizer of mini onion tart and mini brisket sandwich. The tartar came out next, and it was so flavorful and not diced too finely which I appreciated. I could taste the subtle mustard notes and really enjoyed letting the flavors unfold as I ate slowly. Our steaks and mushroom dish came out next, and I did notice the filet was closer to a rare cook and the ribeye had a medium cook. I ate both with the flakey sea salt that was on the table. While both were good I would prefer the cook to be closer to medium rare. The mushroom dish was wetter than I expected, I tend to prefer mushrooms a bit drier as I prefer the drier texture. We were too full to order dessert but we were given a complementary hazelnut flavored macaroon before we left. Surprisingly enough, we loved everything about Dstrikt Steakhouse except the steak! The service was impeccable, the ambiance inviting, the appetizers were good, the one pasta option we ordered was superb, yet the steak was average. Dstrikt is recognized as one of the best 100 steak restaurants in the world, so this turned out be a big letdown. Here is more detail: Beef Tartare: (Grade B+) Good but not quite memorable Tortello: (Grade A+) One of the best pasta dishes we've ever tried. Exceptional. But the portion is so small! Only 8 tortellis (see photo)! 600gr German T-Bone: (Grade B-) We were expecting A+ beef, so this was disheartening. Not much flavor and a bit tough Black Truffle Fries: (Grade A-) Quite crispy with a very fluffy interior. And the black truffle adds great flavor Chimichurri Sauce: (Grade A) So flavorful that I started spooning it straight up! We came here for breakfast everyday. The buffet itself is a bit underwhelming but they have options that you can order on top of the buffet. My favorites were the eggs Benedict, and the sausage links. The soft scrambled eggs were delicious as well. The service was outstanding. Everyone went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. The ambiance of the restaurant is quite nice as well--it's reputed to be one of Austria's best steakhouses but we didn't come here for dinner so I can't comment on that. read more

#1 - important to know that most places are closed on Sunday so this was one of the few open at 9:30 pm. To start....So good. After eating over cooked meat in Dublin, this was a refreshing welcome to a properly cooked and delicious meal. The burger was cooked to perfection and melted in your mouth. Even the broccoli was cooked perfectly. I had asked for my lamb chops to be cooked at medium temp, but came out a bit rarer than expected, but still delicious. I asked my Caesar to be lightly dressed and still was drenched - seems to be Vienna's way (same at kempinski lobby bar). The escargot was just ok. The place is nice since it's connected to the Ritz Carlton but definitely skip this place. We waited maybe an hour and a half for our food. When the food came out it was one of the toughest steaks I have ever had. We ordered a 900g ribeye and honestly one of the worst steaks I have gotten from a steakhouse. The waiter never even apologized for our food taking so long... and ignored us until the food came out. I don't know why the reviews are so good. It was a huge let down and not worth it. read more

One of the best steak houses we've ever been to! The service was impeccable, the bread was incredible, the beef filets were perfect, the wine was excellent. They even had four flavored salts on each table; though everything was perfectly seasoned, it was fun to add these salts to give a new taste to each bite. We also had pea & asparagus soup (to die for) and sides of vegetables (mixed) and asparagus. Everything was absolutely delicious. The design and decor are elegant & stylish. The restaurant even has each diner choose his/her Murano glass steak knife, based on color preference. Well, this is one of a kind restaurants that its hard not to enjoy. The quality of the food served is superb and the service is of high quality. The presentation is magnificent and of course most everything I tasted is very tasty. But for me the price you pay are not justified and the best parts which were truly unique and out of this world were the grilled garlic and cherry tomatoes!!!! Steaks were just to raw and I had to ask mine to be send back for a little more cooking. Ok, so this was my first time dining at "The Ritz", but I have eaten at many Michelin starred restaurants. With the luxury reputation The Ritz name carries, I expect outstanding food and unsurpassed service... Final verdict, maybe try the Michelin restaurant a few ocka up (i cooking get in). Front end service here was good. I stopped by the front desk on SR afternoon and was able to get a reservation for 1, for dinner that night. The restaurant hostess was nice, and they accepted me with heels, gray jeans, and nicer top/jacket. At the table, the service was good (and not overbearing), but lunch service at the Grand Cafe was better. Petty - but at the Cafe, I didn't have to refill my own water, here I did. The waiter was friendly and not pretentious. Dinner (burger) was good, but American hipster burgers are just as good. Fryes, nice and satisfying. I was full after 1/2 burger and 1/2 serving fries. Green beans = great. We and demonic sold out before my 9pm seating. Overall, nice, comfortable dining experience. Good food, relatively reasonable prices. Good, but not superior service. read more

When I heard about Dstrict, I was kind of excited. I was told "great steaks", so - time to check it out. The reservation by phone went very smooth, and upon arrival I was friendly greeted. I was way too early, so I was offered alternatives for the waiting time. Either the indoor lounge, or the rooftop bar. Coming back later, we were quickly seated and had a wonderfully view to the outside. The interior of the place is comfortable, looks well albeit a but dark. The staff is very friendly end helpful. The menu is on a huge plank, and refreshingly simple: the best cuts of meat explained and some starters and sides. All that is needed. The tartare is made in front of you, so you can pick the ingredients. Have to more spicy, or less salty. The soup was very pleasant, time for the main course. We were asked between courses if we wanted to have a short break, which was nice - not being stressed into the next course, just take your time. Nice! The main course was all about steak. We had two different cuts, one filet and one flank. Both were prepared as ordered. They don't have a problem to make a steak rare in this place. Very much appreciated. The meat was excellent, juicy, tasty, just how a steak should be. The sides... The onion rings were a blast. We didn't like the grilled veggies. We didn't go for desert anymore, although they have some really nice things, like cheesecake or sorbets. That will have to wait until next visit. They do have an excellent wine card too. Lots of high-priced wines. I would recommend putting in some wines with a nicer price, there are so many good wines with a lower price. We went for an excellent Malbec for an acceptable price. When leaving the restaurant the staff was again vey friendly. It was a very pleasant evening and we will return for sure. read more

Such a fabulous dining experience start to finish. We were staying at the Ritz and popped down without a reservation on a Sunday evening, but were seated rather promptly. Our server helped us select a more moderately priced Cabernet (which was much appreciated when we ordered a second bottle to enjoy with dessert and then back in our room afterward). We started with the burrata, also at his recommendation. I was a little skeptical, because I'm kind of a burrata snob. But oh. my. goodness. Just get it. You won't be disappointed. For steaks, we went with the petite filet and ribeye, tried a few sauces (I personally recommend the mushroom!) and split a few sides. The sides were solid, but the steaks stole the show. They were cooked perfectly to order and had great flavor. I'm arguably not the biggest cheesecake fan, but my husband loves it and, since Dstrikt is known for its cheesecake, we split a serving to cap the meal. The crust to cake ratio is high (which I prefer) and the cake itself is a little runnier than I'm used to, but man does it work. It was delicious and my husband was shocked (read: annoyed) when I polished off my half! Service was attentive throughout and really catered to our pace. I wish I could recall our servers name, because he knocked it out of the park with his quick wit and killer recommendations. No doubt that this was a five star experience. Ambiance was great. The food was excellent. I ordered the 300 gram filet and it was too big for me because I ordered the truffle fries and rice. Everything was delicious. They had like a tray of 10 or 15 steak knives from different places and all different kinds and you choose one that you prefer for your steak. Nice touch. My husband and I had dinner here our first night in Vienna after a train ride in from Prague. They had a great selection of cocktails and wine - including chateauneuf-du-pape that was fantastic. My husband had the tomahawk steak that was cooked perfectly (considering the size) along with the chimichurri sauce. They did bring out a selection of steak knives for us but I was a bit disappointed when the waitress did not go into detail about the type, selection or any details. My wife and I had a fabulous "linner" (lunch+dinner) at Dstrikt on our first day in Vienna. We we're staying at the Ritz and so decided to try it in the hope they were serving guests at ~2:00 pm. We we're greeted warmly, and that hospitality extended to the service during our meal. Our waiter was warm and very attentive, which we appreciated. The food superb, the wine list included selections from more than just Austria, and the outdoor seating relaxing. They offered us a choice of steak knives for our use, something we had not experienced before. We've eaten at a number of well regarded steakhouses in America and Brazil, Dstrikt is among the best. I checked out some of the reviews and decided this cheesecake looked like it was definitely worth checking out, so we took a taxi for an 18€ small cheesecake (meant for 4 people). We are very frustrated with the Christmas dinner in Ritz... I was there a few hours ago with my family of 9! The 6 course menu offered by the restaurant definitely doesn't worth what you pay. The lobster bisque was so fishy that I couldn't eat, and I really love lobster. The fish was insipid and the meat was hard... the cinnamon soufflé was too sweet... a disaster for 160 euros. The service and the wines saved the night, and I must say that the kitchen made us wait more than expected for that level of restaurant. I'm very sorry to say that, but I don't recommend this restaurant at all. Let's see if our next 2 nights here can make me forget this bad experience. read more
