Zünftiges Essen, nette Leute. Wir gehen als satte, zufriedene Gäste. Besonders Schnitzel und Fleischliebhaber kommen auf ihre Kosten. Sehr empfehlenswert.

Found this place while strolling the streets. My kids and I loved the schnitzel and the potato salad. Beer was awesome too. Would go again, wait, we did a couple nights later.

We LOVED this restaurant when we visited!! Our waiter was very funny and had the best recommendations. He recommended we try the hazelnut schnapps which was delicious. For dinner, I ordered the RATSHERRNPFANNE which is basically pork with mushrooms, cheese, potato dumplings, and cheese. My fiancé ordered the Wiener Schnitzel. We also split a small salad. Everything was delicious, also the dumplings in my dish were pretty heavy. The schnitzel might be some of the best we tried in the city. We barely ate half of our dishes (since the portions were ginormous) so our waiter also gave us a to-go box which was nice!

Ask your waiter for a recommendation - they will tailor to your taste, spot on! Stopped in around 5pm on a Sunday. Grateful we were eating early, or else we may not have gotten a table. Make a reservation in advance! This was the best "customer service" experience we had in Vienna - a bit closer to what you'd expect in America - but the food was great. The vibes of the place are a smidge darker but really comfortable. Waitstaff is very friendly and made a great recommendation for me for dinner - tailored to my preferences and taste! Stopped for our last dinner in Vienna and I'd highly recommend.

I had an amazing evening here.. a fabulous dinner, and both food and service was spot-on!! I'm still traveling or would post more.. but I will add a few pics. Short answer .. you MUST try it for local cuisine!!

My sister in law missed iced tea, and this was on the menu. She said it was good!!

We were looking for an authentic Austrian meal, and after searching reviews, we settled on Purstner. We are so glad that we did! It was one of our favorite restaurants of our trip. Call ahead for reservations as they require them, but don't let that deter you. I was able to call 30 min prior and got in just fine. The food was amazing, the drinks were awesome, and the service was funny! Recommend this x10!

Why do you charge for butter? Because we can.

Women Travel Safe I will admit that this was a TERRIBLE restaurant! The waiter smirked at us for ordering tap water! Now, we KNOW that tap water in Vienna is very good!! That there is absolutely no need to order bottled water in Austria! Not only, but we were traveling for 18 days, eating two to three meals a day out, so we tried to save money where we could. I think that sometimes restaurants are not thinking that travelers are eating out so much, so we are not always going to splurge at every meal! They are thinking, ' These people are being cheap! They are on vacation and should be living it up! How dare they order tap water!' Do the math, 6 people, eating out 2-3 times a day, with 4 of those people drinking beer at some meals, it adds up! This was the only restaurant where we were treated so poorly, so much so that we skipped out on ordering dessert because the waiter was beyond rude!

We stopped here for an authentic Austrian meal and were not disappointed! The service was great and the portions were huge! I ordered the spare ribs and thy brought me two slabs of robe plus cabbage and potatoes! I could have shared it with someone else. My husband ordered the pork dish and it was also really yummy and a good size portion. Their drinks were reasonably priced as well. We sat outside but the inside is very charming and feels authentic. Plenty of room for a big group!

Spareribs--generous portion at a reasonable price! Not to mention delicious too.

Menus and bread serving arrived. $4.80 per person. Oh well. We decided to share and we selected the white asparagus with a tomato and egg relish with a vinaigrette and an Order of Wiener Schnitzel with potato salad and lingonberries. Our food arrived very quick. Both dishes quite good. Not the best we have experienced in Vienna and not the worst. - Wiener Schnitzel: best one of the week. It was thin as it should be and not greasy at all. Wish it had been cooked with a little seasoning. Salt and fresh lemon solved that problem. 4/5 - Potato Salad: excellent. Almost addictive. Loved the fresh mache and pumpkin seed oil on it. 5/5 - Cranberry Sauce: or as I call it lingonberry sauce. Average. Tasted like out of a jar. But good. 4/5 - White Asparagus: served with a tomato herb vinaigrette with chopped egg. Wish the asparagus had been served warm then topped with the vinaigrette. Would made the dish pop. Very good. 4/5 - Atmosphere: Outside was glorious. Area was spacious. 5/5 - Service: waiter was abrupt and would disappear for lengthy times. Must have been really busy inside. 3/5 - Value: somewhat overpriced. Think the mandatory $4.80 bread service per person put it over the top. I expected outstanding bread and got a very small serving of bread and a pad of butter with a couple of tablespoons of a herb mixture.

We showed up with my mom's little mobility scooter, and the bartender came out and helped me get it inside over the little step. They were very kind about helping us find somewhere to put it that it was out of the way. Atmosphere was lively, and I enjoyed the interior of the restaurant. It was much nicer than it looked from the outside! They had an ever dining area that was a little bit on the trendy side, and the lower dining area and bar was a bit more classy. Our server, Issa, was extremely kind and patient. My mom is not much of an adventurous eater, and she was being quite picky and asking a lot of questions and he never seemed bothered by it. He also listened to her explanation of what she wanted in a coffee and he made her coffee the way she likes. In Vienna, everything is espresso based and my mom just does not care for the taste. She likes something a bit more mild, and Issa delivered. When my eggs Benedict came out I wasn't particularly impressed by the looks of it, but the taste was amazing. The hollandaise sauce was so rich and creamy, and they were a little buttery, crunchy chunks of bread, I guess like croutons, sprinkled over the sauce. Get in my belly! The muffin that the Benedict was on was delicious as well. We both had fresh squeezed orange juice that was also outstanding. 100% make sure you come here for breakfast if you're staying in Vienna! Wonderful food, reasonable prices, great atmosphere and service!
