Easy to find on a corner about a block away from the Opera house.
    Michael K.

Before heading to the Opera, my wife and I popped in for dinner on a Saturday evening around 1745. We called ahead of time to reserve a table, which was probably a good idea. When we arrived, most of the tables were full. The dining room had walls of stacked beer cans. Classic rock and 80s music was playing this evening. We had no trouble using English to order and communicate with everyone. We each started with their winter ale in the half-liter-sized glass mug. I saw others enjoying the larger liter size, but I knew we wouldn't make it through an opera if we drank one of those. We split a serving of Vienna sausages and Wiener schnitzel for our dinner. The sausages were served with mustard, a Kaiser roll, and raw horseradish. The latter, we thought, was some slaw until we tasted it. We were pleasantly surprised and enjoyed it with the sausage. The schnitzel was a huge portion of pork fried yumminess. Served with a side of piping hot fries, the dish was more than enough for us. Service was quick and friendly, and we were finished with plenty of time to catch the show.

We ate almost everything on this page - everything was great, fresh and tasty!

Great food, good salads, Vienna favorites and decent prices! Service was quick and multi-lingual, vibe was great with beer-centric decor (check out the walls!) and all of this at fair prices. We came back twice it was that good! Faves were the Sacher sausages, the salads (green and Caesar), beef soup, apple strudel - all great!

    Yes, this is the place

Happy and fun place with good food and beer, and helpful friendly servers. Thanks fellow yelpers and Google reviewers for the good reviews. This place lives up to its reputation. Good food, fun atmosphere, and helpful servers. Ate here the first night we arrived in Vienna. We were tired, after traveling from Prague and then doing a half-day sight-seeing here. When we arrive the place was packed and the host asked if we had reservations, which we didn't. He said let me see what I can do and then ran and talked to someone else. Then looks like they opened another section in the back and quickly seated us. Turns out that was good for them because about 30 minutes later the whole back had filled up as well. The place is decorated all over the walls with beer cans from all over Austria and Germany as well as beer coasters. I got a Gasser Dunkle beer, which was great. I wish I could find this in my hometown of Seattle. I ordered what I thought was a beef stew and my wife ordered a potato and mixed meat ( pork and beef) scrabble with a fried egg on top. Hers was delicious and I would highly recommend it. Mine was just okay, as it was a huge slice of thinly sliced beef stewed in broth and vegetables. Thus, the beef was way overcooked. However, it tasting good.

Food - big servings!! I ordered the original Veal Schnitzel and added mashed potato! Yumm! We also tried the beef pancake soup! Very good! Highly recommend! Service - the previous reviews I read said they were slow, but maybe because we went there when it was not too busy so it was really fast! The server has a dry sense of humor that, being one with a very dry sense of humor, I was annoyed because I was serious about asking their version of veal schnitzel and the original schnitzel... and he said the price. -_- womp womp! Ambiance - beer themed.

Just got our order in and already most of the way through the first glass

We came here for a special meal. We had the schnitzel and we were impressed by the size of the portions. The waiters were professional but not friendly. The menu is typical of a Viennese bar. We sat outside which was very nice. The toilets are downstairs, so it's not handy if you are mobility challenged, but

Super slow (but enthusiastic) service--I almost starved to death--but huge portions of ok tasting Bavarian peasant food. The interior is quite well decorated with various bar and beer paraphernalia, and quite a few snappy beer puns. However, that did not distract from the subpar food. Both the potato salad and green salad were quite oily but provided the requisite vitamins. The beef and pancake soup tasted like beefy seawater laden with thin strips of butter-fried pancake--the pancakes were delicious, the soup not so much; there was just too much salt to taste anything of substance. The steak Milanese was pretty well-seasoned and crisp on the edges. Definitely get the one fried in lard, it's worth it. This is the only reason my review is 3 stars instead of 2. On the other hand, the roast pork and potato dumplings were tough as a board. The sauerkraut was the most enjoyable part of that dish.

    Spaetzle

We were welcomed like regulars. The main server joked with us and brought our drinks quickly. I wasn't too hungry so I ordered the spaetzle, which was great. My sons ordered schnitzel and steak tartare. I considered dining there the following night as well but we opted for something else that turned out to not be that great. I should have returned.

    Wiener mit semmel und senf

We had a fabulous time here, the food and the service were both great! Our server, Jan, was extraordinary. It's rare that a server takes the time to ensure your order is exactly as you wish and he was so patient and knowledgeable. We were so pleased that he took the effort to describe our entrees and our beverages. The servers work as a team and there is a very friendly atmosphere throughout the place. Mainly locals/Austrians were dining tonight. The prices are very reasonable and the food is delicious. I enjoyed the wiener with semmel bread and mustard along with a large pils beer. My companion enjoyed the pastrami sandwich with French fries and it was awesome. We found the place on Yelp and it met our every expectation. I would easily dine here again knowing that all the food and drinks are served swiftly and happily by a professional team.

Wiener Gulasch - beef cubes with potato patties

The food was great - flavor, quantity - was tepid temperature. Do you ever get hot food anymore? Service was bland, not bad but nothing to speak of. It's really a pub and we (2 of us) were asked, while we waited for the two guys making drinks, if we had a reservation . Ambiance is cozy, not rowdy, "family-friendly" pub. I had the Zwiebelrosbrate €24. I would order it again. My colleague had the Wiener Gulasch €19 and he loved it.

I went to Bier & Bierli for dinner. The food was edible but not tasty or enjoyable. The meat was generally overcooked & not very flavourful. Styrian deep fried chicken with potato salad and pumpkinseed oil (Steirisches Backhendl) was disappointing. The fried chicken pieces were overcooked and unpalatable. Fried Potatoes with meat and egg (Traditionelles Gröstl) were okay; they didn't mess up the potatoes but they also didn't make them tasty. There was little flavour in this dish. The little pieces of meat were overcooked. €15.90 I tried the Edelweiss Weissbier which was fine, but it's a bit too bland for my taste. €3.50 Service: Fine. I had received some misleading information from the server, so I initially made the wrong order, but the server helped fix the situation without any problems.

Actually I can exit my cool apartment building, turn left, and just keep walking straight even when the street changes its name in one block - and arrive at Laurenz in ten minutes. Laurenz looks great - outside & inside. Many clever beer sayings adorn the walls outside and you even find a few funny ones inside. There is a bar and a couple of dining areas. You can eat & drink where you choose. Since they make their own beer here, let's start with that. The beer is great! I had a Vienna Red beer here that tasted fresh and nicely balanced with hops & malt. The soup I ordered was the Beer Cheese Soup which was so good I could have eaten a whole pot of it. I loved how there were still chunks of melted cheese residing in its delicious broth. An Austrian soft pretzel nicely accompanied this offering. My main course was also tremendous. - a delicious pumpkin Flammküchen with Creme Fraiche, caramelized onions, Grana Padano, and Austrian pumpkin seed oil. The crust of this tasty concoction was perfectly baked. Service was most friendly and efficient. Laurenz is a winner! I def will be back .... and also I will bring some of my visitors to Vienna who I know will also enjoy its charms and libations.

A Christmas to Remember at Flanagan's…read more There's something about a good Irish pub at Christmastime. The way the warmth greets you at the door, how the low hum of conversation and clinking glasses wraps around you like an old wool coat. That's what we found at Flanagan's in Vienna, a place where Christmas wasn't just a date on the calendar but something you could feel, deep in your bones. We sat down to a Christmas lunch that was everything a holiday meal ought to be, hearty, rich, and made with care. The kind of meal that sticks with you long after you've left, not just for the taste but for the way it made you feel. The Guinness was poured thick and smooth, a dark ribbon of comfort against the winter cold outside. And dessert? The kind that makes you want to loosen your belt and stay just a little longer. But it wasn't just the food. It was the place itself. The way the lights cast a soft glow over wooden tables worn smooth by time. The way laughter and stories filled the air, like an old family gathering where nobody wanted to leave. My son took it all in, wide-eyed and happy, and that alone made it worth the visit. If you ever find yourself in Vienna on a cold December day, stop by Flanagan's. Order a pint, settle in, and let Christmas wrap around you like an old song you almost forgot you knew.
