It's decorated like a pub... but with all this it's not a real pub. Although the food is good the feel is more touristy compared to a hause serving Austrian dishes. They also serve foreign foods like pasta, fish and chips, But like I said, it's good value for your money when you are looking for some Austrian experience... The place is decorated all over the walls with beer cans from all over Austria and Germany as well as beer coasters. I got a Gasser Dunkle beer, which was great. I wish I could find this in my hometown of Seattle. I ordered what I thought was a beef stew and my wife ordered a potato and mixed meat ( pork and beef) scrabble with a fried egg on top. It's rare that a server takes the time to ensure your order is exactly as you wish and he was so patient and knowledgeable. Beef Tartare seemed unsafe to eat, and service made us uncomfortable. In August I Visited this establishment with my mother in law and my 2 young children during a busy weekend. Our server / waiter told us a couple times the food was "coming out now" but it didn't come for another 30-40mins after his claims, so it was weird he'd even share "it's coming now" when the food wasn't even close to being ready. We ordered a schnitzel, a burger, and a beef tartare. The beef tartare was an odd mushy texture and the interior meat was GREY. When my mother in law asked about it, the waiter claimed she needed to simply mix the ingredients together (onions , etc) and that it was the "style". My mother in law eats beef tartare often, and decided not to consume the dish for fear of it being spoilt. The waiter never offered her another option but instead, simply gaslit her when she inquired about it / shared her concerns about the quality of the tartare (which is raw beef and must be of high quality). The same server made a weird comment about my kids not using their ketchup for their fries; I don't understand why he'd care whether or not they consume it, given we pay for the ketchup regardless. My mother in law and I felt the was strange behavior and frankly, not his business to make a comment regarding what condiments we do or don't consume. My schnitzel was very good, and the burger was passable but one of my kids didn't enjoy his portion (so he barely ate it).. We decided to eat out on the patio since it was still really nice outside. Seated right away, and got a couple of beers and ordered the Ribs for Two plate. Didn't take to long to get our food, and it was absolutely delicious. Definitely perfect for two people as well. I loved every bit of it. Services was great. Bier & Bierli - located in the center of Vienna and only minutes from the renowned Vienna State Opera House - is without a doubt the most beer-centric pub I have ever visited. After all it showcases a collection of more than 20,000 objects of beer memorabilia incl. beer cans, beer mats, bottle caps, and posters. This creates a really cool atmosphere - especially I love the walls of beer cans and the ceilings of beer mats. It's a good place to take visiting friends who are interested in beer. But all is not smooth sailing here causing me to take off a star and perhaps another half one if I had the option. That reason is: the service is scattershot too often at best. They need a better system for this hugely popular place. It's not that the servers aren't friendly - they are. It's not that they are not competent - they are. They need a better system or more servers to accommodate the many people who come in here every day. Granted when I was there on Sunday, there was a private party in a back room of about 30-40 people which had a ripple effect on the entire Lokal. But overall service was too much of a 'flag down the waiter' variety. The beer I drank was most excellent - an Austrian Edelwiess Hefetrüb. And I found my Wiener Sacher-Würstel in a goulasch sauce to be very tasty. I'll certainly return to Bier & Bierli ... but hopefully at a time when it is less crowded.
