Worth a go if you're looking for a solid Viennese meal. We were able to walk in to get a high table top table but after us there was only bar seating for walk in's. They may seem half empty at times but that's because most tables are reserved. The soup with fried pancakes was delicious. Flavorful soothing broth and the cancels had good textual chewz The tafelspitz was overall tasty. While on its own it can get a bit one note, if you pair it with the sauces and potatoes, it's a wonderful mix. Service is fine, but food is delicious and a local nearby rightfully raved about it

Our hotel recommended this lively popular restaurant when we asked for a local place for dinner and we were wowed. First meal (yes, goulash!) sat at the bar, where everyone chatted to us in English -- so fun! Next night got a table (schnitzel) and the couple next to us was heading to the Opera. Third night (bratwurst) we were not near others so just people watched. Portions are so huge, no room for dessert!

    Sehr lecker!

This spot undoubtedly came up as the #1 affordable restaurant in Vienna on Yelp, didn't it? And that's probably why you're reading my English review right now, as an American. We tried to come here after checking into our hotel, but sadly they were booked for the evening. So we returned the following day and were able to have an early dinner here. It's very low-key and minimalist in decor, and would remind me of some of the hip wine bars in the US if the lighting wasn't so bright. We got a cute spot next to the front window, and the lighting was even less necessary, as the sun was still out for the majority of our meal. The service was friendly, and we were glad to again be treated kindly although our family only spoke English. Our server was attentive, and we didn't go long without having anything we wanted. By this point of the trip I had already grown tired of meat, cheese, and gravy, so just like at the other restaurant in Vienna, I opted for something different. Here I chose the pumpkin raviolis, which came with a side salad. I had learned from my ignorance in ordering beer from the previous wine bar we had eaten at, and opted for a glass of red wine here. We ended with the cream cheese dumplings with plum stew. After going four days without eating any greens, I was happy to have the salad. The dressing was light and unique in flavor, which made up for the less-than-fresh leaves. The pumpkin raviolis were also refreshing, as aside from the pumpkin, there were also cherry tomatoes and arugula in the dish. Another light item that left me pleasantly full. The wine was good, but arguably not as good as wine I drink in California, though I'm glad I tried it. I don't recall exactly what my parents got, but I think they were more traditional dishes--possibly goulash with spätzle. They enjoyed their dishes fine, and I'm sure I would have liked them too. The cream cheese dumplings were amazing! Such a simple dessert that was tart and sugary, warm, crunchy, and chewy. It hit all the right notes, and was perfectly-sized as a dessert for three people to share (after they have eaten their own entrees). Very glad to come across this place and lucky to be seated without reservations.

Tucked away on a side street in the city center, this cozy spot gives you a traditional Viennese restaurant experience. My friend and I went around 6/6:30pm and were able grab a few seats at the bar. However, we arrived at just the right time, because not 30 minutes to an hour later, the place was packed and there was a line of people waiting. So I recommend making a reservation. We ordered beer and wine to start and then had the pike perch (fish), which came with a risotto, and chicken livers, which came with a fresh potato and water cress salad. For dessert, we shared the kaiserschmarrn (Austrian dessert of shredded pancake with dried fruit, served with apple sauce/compote). Overall we had a wonderful time enjoying our meal and the buzzing energy of the place! We walked around the neighborhood afterwards for a leisurely stroll along the cobblestone streets of Vienna.

Excellent restaurant that wasn't too far from the Innere Stadt. Great food, excellent, service and nice ambiance (although the road outside was dug up due to construction). For starters we got the mixed salad (very good) and the fois Graz Bruelle. The Wiener Schnitzel was good as well, but the star of the show was the Tafelspitz which came with a number of sides. The Tafelspitz was recommended by the server and he was so helpful in serving it in the traditional way for each of us. A hidden gem--I highly recommend it!

Food was delicious, goulash beef was out this world, super tender and juicy, melting in the mouth. Desert was very delicious. Service outstanding and atmosphere cool.

My husband and I came here for the first dinner during our honeymoon trip in Austria. This is a very nice little place, and it gets really busy after 6 pm. We didn't make a reservation, and we were fortunate to be seated near the bar. Staff are very nice and professional. We had an amazing Austrian meal here.

Just stopped in to sample their brews. Very cramped seating at the tables and the bar is tiny. They brew, but apparently only 2 kinds. They were described as "clear and cloudy." Both were "meh." The bartender was brusque and didn't want to be bothered by Americans.

Super quiet street and small place. You will miss it if you are not aware of your surroundings and looking for it. You can tell this is where locals dine and they want to keep it this way. Not overly friendly to visitors. The food was pretty decent and reasonably priced for Vienna. We shared the steak tartar that was a large portion as a starter for two and shared the schnitzel with potato salad; hubs had a beer. You'll need reservations if you want a table. We were lucky enough to sit at the bar and not have to wait an hour and half.

Super place. Friendly, authentic, and worth a wait for a small place. The goulash is the feature and worth it.

Menus and bread serving arrived. $4.80 per person. Oh well. We decided to share and we selected the white asparagus with a tomato and egg relish with a vinaigrette and an Order of Wiener Schnitzel with potato salad and lingonberries. Our food arrived very quick. Both dishes quite good. Not the best we have experienced in Vienna and not the worst. - Wiener Schnitzel: best one of the week. It was thin as it should be and not greasy at all. Wish it had been cooked with a little seasoning. Salt and fresh lemon solved that problem. 4/5 - Potato Salad: excellent. Almost addictive. Loved the fresh mache and pumpkin seed oil on it. 5/5 - Cranberry Sauce: or as I call it lingonberry sauce. Average. Tasted like out of a jar. But good. 4/5 - White Asparagus: served with a tomato herb vinaigrette with chopped egg. Wish the asparagus had been served warm then topped with the vinaigrette. Would made the dish pop. Very good. 4/5 - Atmosphere: Outside was glorious. Area was spacious. 5/5 - Service: waiter was abrupt and would disappear for lengthy times. Must have been really busy inside. 3/5 - Value: somewhat overpriced. Think the mandatory $4.80 bread service per person put it over the top. I expected outstanding bread and got a very small serving of bread and a pad of butter with a couple of tablespoons of a herb mixture.

We showed up with my mom's little mobility scooter, and the bartender came out and helped me get it inside over the little step. They were very kind about helping us find somewhere to put it that it was out of the way. Atmosphere was lively, and I enjoyed the interior of the restaurant. It was much nicer than it looked from the outside! They had an ever dining area that was a little bit on the trendy side, and the lower dining area and bar was a bit more classy. Our server, Issa, was extremely kind and patient. My mom is not much of an adventurous eater, and she was being quite picky and asking a lot of questions and he never seemed bothered by it. He also listened to her explanation of what she wanted in a coffee and he made her coffee the way she likes. In Vienna, everything is espresso based and my mom just does not care for the taste. She likes something a bit more mild, and Issa delivered. When my eggs Benedict came out I wasn't particularly impressed by the looks of it, but the taste was amazing. The hollandaise sauce was so rich and creamy, and they were a little buttery, crunchy chunks of bread, I guess like croutons, sprinkled over the sauce. Get in my belly! The muffin that the Benedict was on was delicious as well. We both had fresh squeezed orange juice that was also outstanding. 100% make sure you come here for breakfast if you're staying in Vienna!
