I wasn't expecting this little café across the street from the Naschmarkt to be SLAMMING but here we are! We showed up with my mom's little mobility scooter, and the bartender came out and helped me get it inside over the little step. They were very kind about helping us find somewhere to put it that it was out of the way. Atmosphere was lively, and I enjoyed the interior of the restaurant. It was much nicer than it looked from the outside! They had an ever dining area that was a little bit on the trendy side, and the lower dining area and bar was a bit more classy. Our server, Issa, was extremely kind and patient. My mom is not much of an adventurous eater, and she was being quite picky and asking a lot of questions and he never seemed bothered by it. He also listened to her explanation of what she wanted in a coffee and he made her coffee the way she likes. In Vienna, everything is espresso based and my mom just does not care for the taste. She likes something a bit more mild, and Issa delivered. When my eggs Benedict came out I wasn't particularly impressed by the looks of it, but the taste was amazing. The hollandaise sauce was so rich and creamy, and they were a little buttery, crunchy chunks of bread, I guess like croutons, sprinkled over the sauce. Get in my belly! The muffin that the Benedict was on was delicious as well. We both had fresh squeezed orange juice that was also outstanding. 100% make sure you come here for breakfast if you're staying in Vienna! I'd rate Cafe Drechsler four and a half stars. Comfy international brunch. The cafe was nearly filled on a Wednesday in the late morning. We shared the blueberry pancakes and the vegetarian combination breakfast. They were a perfect pairing. The pancakes were sweet with a texture squarely balanced between airy and dense. It came with a creamy banana (and I believe maple) purée. I loved the variety of the veggie combo. There was the smooth and earthy beet hummus destined for the fresh and crispy veggie sticks. A vivacious yogurt parfait with jam, nuts, granola, and dried fruit. A buttery omelette. A seeded bread that I topped with butter and the slightly whipped cream. Service was attentive and the food was ready fairly quick. Lots of beverage options. We shared a pot of green tea. The restroom was spacious and handicap accessible. It had a convenient changing table. read more

Very cute spot! The chai tea was delicious! We also got the blueberry pancakes and the ramisuri sandwich. The pancakes were just okay- a bit dry. The ramisuri was good but would have been better if the bread was toasted and thicker. The eggs and the bacon were really good though. read more

Great spot to relax, have a coffee, or a casual lunch/dinner. We came only for coffee/drinks, and really enjoyed the staff and ambiance. There were tons of locals and young couples here, which gave it a refreshing vibe. The waitress was great--she quickly prepared a table and got us seated. Would definitely come back! read more

Right at the Naschmarkt can be found this retro cafe. Decked out in a 50s diner minims style that works fantastically well. Sometime less really is more! Open nearly 24hours a day. From 3am to 2am weekends. (An hour for cleaning one would presume.) Fairly inclusive drinks and food menu and a great place to sit and watch the world (of the Naschmarkt) go by through the large windows out front. Expect good relaxed service and atmosphere and relatively decent prices. Havent eaten here yet but will do and then post a review. read more

Very good brunch! Get the pancakes and prosciutto eggs Benedict. The coffee is good and the 80s American Music was hilarious. I loved the sofa / tables and ambiance. The waiters were friendly, very attentive and full of energy. Definitely saving this spot for the future! FYI pass on the chorizo omelette, not very good. read more

Fantastic little spot. We came here for brunch, I was a little apprehensive when we first walked in. Smoking indoors here is apparently accepted (or at the very least was up until very, very recently). Tiny rant: Ignoring the health risks associated with smoking, cigarette smoke ruins the palate and at the very least, interferes with the olfactory senses, including those around you, so it's also a pretty dick move. Anyways, the food is really great here and that's not just my opinion, the majority of the patrons here are locals. Luckily we came in during a random weekday morning, so not too busy and we were seated immediately. Unfortunately I don't speak German so I can't recall the name of my dish but it was a sausage with beans and some greens. My SO ordered a savory dish and we split some fruit. All was fresh and tasty. Sincerely, I'd love to give this place 5 stars because the food was amazing and the service was friendly and super helpful but the putrid smell of smoke made it impossible to truly enjoy my meal. read more

I love this cafe. First of all, the cafe itself is absolutely gorgeous. The aesthetics of the interior are both elegant and relaxed at the same time. The coffee here is delicious, as is all of the food that I've tried thus far. Plus the service at this cafe is excellent. The location is also extremely convenient, just across from the Naschmarkt, another of my favorite spots in Vienna, which means that it's just a hop, skip, and a jump away from the Kettenbruekengasse U4 station. read more

The decor was great! The service was relaxed for sure. The drinks are good. I do not recommend eating here though. I tried the creamed spinach with potatoes and an egg...expecting an art of presentation, I was very disappointed. It was presented as exactly that, a big glob of salty pureed spinach next to a small pile of fried bland hash browns and a fried, yet runny egg. The place doesn't look particularly special from the outside, but the inside invites you to spend an afternoon there. I have on several occasions and always enjoyed my experience. The first time, I had a chicken breast for dinner, I can't recall what it was served with, but it was tasty and well appointed. An Apfelstrudel with vanilla sauce followed; the sauce made it a bit soggy, but it was otherwise big and delicious; I'd recommend it minus the sauce. Another time I had the Veal Schnitzel. I can safely say it's every bit as good as Figlmüller's. Soft, flavorful, and perfectly breaded. The salad it comes with is really, truly delicious. The service was been consistently good. I thought it was better when I stopped by with a friend speaking English than it was when I came in by myself trying out my German. They even bid farewell to us with a couple of postcards when we spoke English. They do like their tourists, is what I'm saying; a rarity among cafes. The place never seems to be too packed, and you'll never be rushed out. Great spot to have a cup of coffee or a glass of wine before venturing to the Naschmarkt. read more

I came in with a friend for dessert and tea later at night after we had dinner on a Friday, and the place was only about half full. We were greeted by a server who didn't look very happy to be there, but I didn't think much of it and thought that maybe he was just quiet. We sat down and decided on a chocolate soufflé to share, on top of a chamomile tea for my friend and a rooibos tea for myself. The soufflé was delicious, and the tea was just the amount of warmth that we needed, and everything was fine, except for the service we received. Our server was cold and distant (I don't think he smiled at us once); he looked annoyed when I asked for an extra fork for our shared dessert, and he forgot which tea I ordered despite writing down what we were telling him. What really made me uncomfortable was when we finished paying, and he flat out just said to us, "Service charge is not included," and walked away. No "Thank you" or any form of appreciation for our business! Last I checked, tip is always optional based on the service received (even though I usually do tip because social norms tell us that it's what we should do); no server has ever outwardly asked me for a tip before! I was very much taken aback by this, especially since it came from a place as nice as this, and I expected a lot more after reading several positive reviews. read more
