After spending some time in the shopping district nearby, we were more than ready for dinner. We wanted to try the Vienna classics- schnitzel and tafelspitz, and they offered them both here. Outdoor seating was unavailable due to the rain. We received a friendly greeting upon entering and even though we did not have a reservation, they managed to squeeze us in and seat us at a table before the reservation. Very nice. We ordered : Veal schnitzel- a couple of large slices Veal thinly pounded, breaded and fried. Cranberry sauce was an extra Euro, but it was something to smear on top and give a little extra flavor. The dish came with a side a potato salad- thinly sliced cooked potatoes in a slightly sweet mayo Tafelspitz- beautifully plated Boiled beef topped with thinly sliced root vegetables, all in a broth. It came with an herbed pilaf of potatoes and two sauces- of which one I did not care for and a horseradish applesauce. The beef was nice, a little chewy in some places, but I did top with the applesauce to give it some more flavor. Loved the herbed pilaf of potatoes. Good service, good food. read more

Delicious! I ordered the spaetzle with cheese and bacon, it was large amount of food for a decent price. Everything on the menu sounded delicious and I wish I could have come back a second time. The restaurant was mostly locals but the menu is translated and all waiters speak English. I also ordered a drink that waiters told me were schnapps - however it was nothing like the schnapps we have in America but more like the strongest alcohol I've ever tasted. However I am unfamiliar with European alcohol so this was probably just due to ignorance on my part. read more

One of the best Austrian restaurants to dine in this area- They serve traditional as well as seasonal food. It can be quite noisy inside sometimes when the tables are fully booked. Hotel made reservations for us the day of. Food was decent, service is on the slow side, overall average (and not bad) Austrian food. We sat outdoors which was nice given the weather. Cool breeze comforted us on a hot June day. We ordered the wiener snitzel, beef noodle soup, dumplings with ham/cheese/onions and pasta with cabbage. Snitzel was good but I don't think I'm a snitzel kind of guy, feel like it needs a sauce (too used to Japanese tonkatsu). Dumplings were good but on the rich side. Pasta/cabbage was too salty for us. Service was long, but that seems typical in Vienna. Took us about 30 minutes to get the bill. Overall, decent food for the traveler who relies on Yelp for travel food. read more

We went to dinner here on our last night in Vienna. I choose it as it was close walk from our AirBNB and I wanted to try spaetzle, which I didn't realize that it was generally a pub dish. It was rich and cheesy and the spaetzle has that thick noodle mouth feel, and a generous portion (if you're into generous portions). We ordered bread and there was a nice variety, they were all good and fresh, not served with butter. My husband ordered the schnitzel, was decent. We had the pancakes for dessert with the plumb jam. It tasted good and was simple different. We sat inside as it was busy and there was a lot of smoking outside. Nice white tablecloths but a bit too warm as there is no A/C. Overall this is solid pub food. Service was good, friendly, and accommodating. read more

Really nice restaurant, the food was bloody fantastic and the service was also above average for Vienna. It has a big enough non smoking area and the atmosphere was very pleasant when i was there, however there was not so many people there when i was there, so i think it would be quit loud inside when full. But never the less it is well worth going to and trying it out for yourself, I do highly recommend it. read more

Very tourist friendly restaurant for those who don't speak the food. Food and service were both wonderful. The waiters were very patient and helpful in helping me decide on a dish since I wasn't too familiar with the cuisine. Wouldn't go here for a quiet date night though as it gets very loud inside when it's busy. read more

Tourist friendly? Well, yes in the sense that they have an English language version of the menu but I wouldn't describe it as friendly... We were first sat in the smoking area and had to ask to move. I'm not sure why we weren't given a choice to begin with? Then we both got the starter one down on the menu from what we'd ordered. Fortunately both were not too dissimilar but still... Our mains were good. He had pancakes, I had black pudding with a tonne of horseradish grated over the top. So much so my eyes watered just from having the plate in front of me. I went here for lunch, and it wasn't too crowded. The waitress was very patient helping an English-speaking tourist, and her English was quite good. She recommended the beef goulash with the pasta. The goulash was so tender and flavorful! It was such a huge portion that I didn't finish it. I believe I only paid around €11.50 for my lunch, which was just the main course. read more

Love this place! It was near our hotel too- right in the middle of the shopping district on Mariahilf St. Love the fact that it's spacious with tons of outdoor seating and not overrun with tourists. Though, there are English menus for tourists (and they speak English too). Bf had a Gosser beer which was a hoppy taste unlike our home beers of NY and I had the local white wine whose name escapes me - mustakeller or something. It was clear, Crisp and medium bodied. Bf had the beef goulash which was a nice hearty stew, with a good boiled hot dog, farm fried fried egg, along with a nice tart cucumber and sauerkraut salad. I had the chicken schnitzel which was a big portion- half a chicken with different cuts of white and dark meat. I love how it wasn't greasy yet fried- I guess they know what their doing considering everyone eats schiztnel here. It came with a side of classic potato vinegar salad - a nice escape from the overly heavy and sweet potato salad we have in the US. Not too pricey and well worth it if you're in the area. Seems to be a mix of locals and tourists but mostly locals. Service was fine albeit a bit slow but That is everywhere in Europe. read more

Nothing special. Ordered the wienerschnitzel, which was rather boring. Just a plate of two pieces of schnitzel with a bowl of potato salad that had too much mayonnaise dressing. The riesling was served ice cold. The blaufrankish, which I think was their house wine, was awful. From our limited German and conversation in English, they never attempted to not speak German or help with the menu. Cash only. Not worth the effort. read more

Very decent Austrian cuisine, with lunch deals (soup + main) for around 8€. Very good choice for a quick and inexpensive lunch or dinner.

They never have the daily menu (always run out of it quick). The service is bad. They make you pay for each bread (1.20€ per piece!!) The food is ok but nothing special. The place is boring. read more

Just off the busy Mariahilfer Strasse, this restaurant offers traditional Austrian fare, generous portions, an English menu (and English-speaking waitstaff) at a fair price. We very much enjoyed our meal here, and plan to return during our stay in Vienna. One thing: the Yelp page says they accept credit cards, but we asked and were told cash only.
