The food here is incredibly solid and comforting. I thoroughly enjoyed the spatzle, which was absolutely delicious, super cheesy and flavorful. The sausage I tried was also pretty good, but I preferred the spatzle. And of course, a nice refreshing beer paired perfectly with the meal. My only regret is that I was absolutely stuffed and didn't have the capacity to try their schnitzel, which looked fantastic passing by! While the service was a bit slow at times, the staff were definitely friendly.
Our first day in Austria and we really wanted to try the Austrian food . With Yelp's help we found this restaurant. The food was good . We loved the chicken and potato salad. The beef goulash I felt it was not hot enough, it was warm. Hot would be better. Service was oke . Ambience was oke too .
We hadn't eaten all day but yet the portions here are huge and delicious. We couldn't finish. It was so good!! The German potato salad was to die for and the chicken cordon blue and veal schnitzel were both amazing!! Beer was good too! Would definitely go back!! Service was meh but they were busy. Won't hold it against them!
This place is sort of hidden away but it's worthwhile discovering! This spot delivers a great atmosphere with a cozy, home-style feel--perfect for a laid-back meal. My partner and I stopped by this morning, and it hit the spot. The interior has a warm, rustic charm, with wooden tables and a lively hum that feels authentically Austrian. We had, in order of preference: Onion Roast Beef - A must for onion lovers--honestly amazing, a 10/10 winner. Vienna-Style Fried Sausage - Crispy, flavorful, and a standout dish. Beef Goulash - Hearty but a bit salty, still enjoyable. Overall, it's a solid experience--reasonably priced with a relaxed vibe. Worth a visit for a taste of tradition! This place goes on and on , but doesn't take resys, so we got in no problem early, but gets packed later. We started with 2 yummy beers and had the pork schnitzel and the onion roasted beef. But the Austrian potatoe salad topped with greens was the BEST!!!! Very cozy, great service! Everything delicious!! Austrian comfort food!
The restaurant is clean and the food comes out super quick! I got the beef goulash with dumplings, and it was a hearty meal. There wasn't much seasoning, but I think that is typical of Austrian food. The prices were pretty reasonable too. However, I was slightly disappointed by the service. I came here at 4pm for an early dinner, and the restaurant was ~40% full. I entered a queue to get seated, but when I got to the front, the host motioned for the couple behind me to get seated. I was a bit surprised, given that they were clearly standing behind me in line, and there were many open tables for a party of 1. The couple behind me also thought this was unusual, and told the host that I was ahead. After hearing this, the host motioned for me to follow. I'm not sure why this happened, and at the end of the day, this isn't a big deal (I had nowhere urgent to be). However, instances like this, where tourists received worse service, seemed to be pretty common during my time in Vienna

Mushroom Soup - 4.5 stars. This was a tasty bowl of cream of mushroom soup with crunchy fried bacon pieces on top. It was a soup of the day though, so no promises on what soup is being offered. Bratwurst - 3.5 stars. These looked great, but compared to other sausages I tried at less impressive stands, just weren't that flavorful. I did enjoy the sauerkraut though. Potatoes also looked better than they were. Chicken Cordon Bleu - 2.5 stars. Quite disappointing, as it was overcooked and dried out. Nothing worse than dried out fried chicken. Cheese Spatzle - 2.5 stars. Not much flavor here either. Didn't really pick up any cheese flavor. The crunchy onions helped a bit. Beer - 5 stars. Nice and cold on a hot day, no complaints here. Better service would have led to drinking more beer though. Maybe they were just understaffed this day, as I see quite a few reviews praising the service here. It's a nice location to get away from the crowds for a little bit and enjoy a sit down meal to rest your feet, so if I were nearby I would be willing to go back and try a few other things and give them another chance.
Delicious food, friendly service and Excelent prices right in the corner of a super busy Vienna street! Who could ask for more local flavor here? Loving this!
reinthaler's beisl is a local restaurant serving traditional austrian dishes. when researching, it seemed like reinthaler's had good reviews from both tourists and locals, with decent prices considering the area. out of the austrian restaurants i tried in vienna, reinthaler's was one of the better ones. there is indoor and outdoor seating. we came on a sunday evening and it was crowded, but we were seated not too long after. service was relatively efficient given how crowded it was and our waitress was trying her best to attend to everyone. // veal schnitzel (~15.90 euros) // the schnitzel was pretty standard, pretty much like any other schnitzel we tried in europe. it is plain so id recommend eating it with something such as potato salad or condiment. // homemade sausage with sauerkraut and grated potatoes (~12.90 euros) // i thought the sausages were good and the sauerkraut was quite tasty too. it is more mild (less sour) here which we preferred to sauerkraut at the other restaurants we tried. the ball of grated potatoes was okay. // large mixed salad (~8.80 euros) // we really craved some vegetables so we got a mixed salad. it was mixed greens plus potato salad (not the creamy kind). we liked how the potato salad was lighter and served with greens. // potato salad // we liked the potato salad. unlike the heavy mayonnaise american style, here it is much lighter with thinly sliced potato, balsamic vinegar, olive oil, etc.
Had dinner at Reinthaler Beisl, conveniently located just off Stephansplatz. Food was good and service was excellent. I enjoyed the Wiener Tafelspitz (Viennese boiled beef) with fried grated potatoes. The boiled beef is served in broth with sliced carrots and chives, with sides of creamy chive sauce & apple horseradish. I was instructed to take a piece of beef, add some broth, then add each of the 2 sauces for a perfect bite. Although the texture of boiled beef is not my favourite, the sauces balance it out so that the beef texture doesn't really detract from the experience. The dish cost € 17.20 in July 2021. Extras of the apple horseradish and chive sauce were € 1.50 each. Kaiser white wine spritzer with elderflower syrup was cool and refreshing (€3.30). My server was friendly and helpful. Service in general was very good, efficient. Everything arrived quickly. I'd recommend Reinthaler if you're looking for Austrian food in the area.
Good Viennese staple items. This establishment is not fancy by any means, but you will have a reasonable and satisfying meal.
Went to Reinthaler's Beisl place for lunch and I totally recommend it. The food was great and the service was great too. At first it was hard to find bcoz the sign says Biesl, I didn't notice Reinthaler.

Absolutely love this place. Showed up on a Sunday for lunch and the line was down the street. We questioned to stay or not. So glad that we did. We got a seat outside within about 15 minutes of waiting. Not bad since there were about 25 - 30 people ahead of us. We ordered Wiener Schnitzel and the Goulash. The schnitzel came with a potato salad that was out of this world good. It was even pretty, topped with a few greens and drizzled with a pumpkin seed oil. the goulash was huge with and the meat was fork tender. It seemed as though we ate and ate and still couldn't quite finish as the portions were huge. Prices were reasonable. Don't know if they take reservations but I would assume not considering the long line trying to get in. And when we left the line was still there. Service was great. Friendly, and prompt. Highly recommend getting in line or arriving when they first open. read more
Really great spot around the corner from the Tourist Info Center. Really tasty food and great authentic ambience. Both schnitzels were tasty and perfectly done. The mixed salad was a hit with potatoes, greens and veggies all in a vinegar base that was well balanced. Good proving and drink offerings as well. Recommend as it was perfect and the prices were about 20% liter than on the Mason thoroughfares. read more

Excellent food and service, which is a great find in the city center to receive both of those in the same place. We had dinner here twice. The first night, we decided to try lighter fare and went vegetarian with kasespaetzle and spinach dumplings. I enjoyed both although my friend didn't like the dumplings. They were a little bland but I liked that about them. Both came with green salads, which seem hard to find in Vienna and we were thrilled to have them. The second night, I tried the veal goulash because I had seen people get it the first night and it looked so good. It was! My friend had the ham and asparagus special which was also excellent. We had been disappointed with the white asparagus at Ratskeller in Munich where the "hollandaise" was actually mayonnaise, but here everything was delicious and the sauce was perfect. read more

This is where the locals go for quick Austrian inexpensive food. It's quick, cheap and hearty. You gotta know what you want or it'll take them awhile to come back around. It was packed when we came and they seated us with this party of 1 (a local). It didn't turn out awkward as he told us about this place and Vienna. I got the roasted pork with dumpling and sauerkraut. Man! This was hearty. I felt so warm and full afterwards. The pork was delicious and the dumplings hearty. I also got the large wine, it's a full glass. Super affordable food. Super busy. read more

Excellent, cheap, fast and authentic! We came here and had the pleasure of sharing a table with one other gentlemen. He's was nice and spoke decent English. It's normal to be seated with other people at your table, especially if there are odd numbers of people. We got the schnitzel and roasted pork dishes. They were both delicious and from the looks of everything else, I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu. I'd come back if I have the chance! English menu. read more
It was Sunday night in Vienna, and the two restaurants we went to earlier were already fully booked. It was a small miracle that Reinthaler ended up seating us, though we had to wait almost half an hour. The restaurant serves traditional Austrian cuisine, and it's along a relatively quiet street near Stephansplatz. The prices were very reasonable compared to the ones we were contemplating before. *Cards are accepted, though they prefer cash!* Boiled Beef - House specialty. The beef chunks came in a tasty bowl of broth, along with a separate plate of horseradish, sour cream with chives, and mashed potato chunks. The broth was very savory while the meat was on the leaner side. Spatzle - Finally got to try spatzle! Although it looked as if were a cousin to macaroni and cheese, the spatzle texture was actually much more doughy and dense. I personally liked it a lot, and the fried onions on top definitely gave it a unique flavor! Roasted pork - The pork was succulent and tender to the cut, with a mix of fatty and lean parts. The sauerkraut and large bread dumpling were typical Austrian fare. Schnitzel - The breading was already slightly acidic before we squeezed more lemon juice, which made the meat stand out more. I used to hate schnitzel until I came to Austria, and that's when I realized American schnitzels were way too heavily breaded. Our waitress was very sweet and patient with our orders, but the restaurant was pretty chaotic and it was sometimes hard to flag her down. read more

Very good authentic Austrian food is served here. We walked in on Sunday around 2pm for late lunch, got lucky a group was just about leaving and got seated without any long wait. Menu has English subtitle and server spoke English, which is always helpful. This place must be featured in some publications as I saw many tourists from different countries as well as some regular locals. Place is small so if you come during peak time, I would anticipate some wait. My friend ordered schnitzel, I thought I had the best schnitzel in Leipzig but this one served here is up there in my personal ranking. They were somehow different but nonetheless very good. I ordered schulterscherzl, English translation, boiled beef. Beef is cooked in a broth, when served, remove beef from a soup, put on a plate, put some horseradish for additional flavor. (I didn't know how to eat so my server showed me how it should be done). Since beef is boiled, it wasn't as fatty as grilled beef, slightly sweet horseradish sauce nicely complimented the beef. I also ordered a side green salad. It was served cucumber salad and potato salad. I really enjoyed vinegar based salad. I liked it so much I would be just happy with salad. Food went well is local beer (can't remember the name as I didn't drink) is what I was told by my friend. I paired my food with local Austrian red wine and it went good together. A great traditional Austrian cuisine restaurant, only few steps off Stephansplatz square, and much cheaper than the ones on the square. We tried a traditional Austrian goulash and some frankfurter sausage. The goulash was very aromatic, with a strong taste of paprika. Pretty simple dishes, but great tasting food. The only downer was when we found out at the end of the meal that they don't accept cards (very discreetly indicated), so I had to run to the square to withdraw money. That's a sign that a business puts their convenience before the guest's, and that's an automatic start lost in my book. So beware, CASH ONLY! read more

This place is amazing. all the usual sweet Austrian fare, but unusually sweet atmosphere and sweet waiters. Slivered pancake soup was fine but broth needed more animal fat and not just spice. Fried pig's brains with onion and egg was out of this world. And so was the pancake with quark and lemon curd and raisins and powdered sugar. Even the carbonated water was special, as the lemon didn't just have some lemon oil flavor, but like a whole lemon in it. read more
Stopped here for a late lunch after landing in Vienna. Great food and pleasant staff members. I would love to try other dishes, but I got full on all that I ordered and shared. Try it for yourself, and careful with the horseradish. Wooooo it burns so good. Hahaha read more
