I assumed our server was new based on his lack of confidence/knowledge but later overheard him say he had worked there 6 months. We had to remind him of things we ordered a couple of times. During the meal he dropped an entire stack of glass plates on the back of mine and my daughters chairs. Glass and food went everywhere but no one seemed concerned and no one checked to see if we had been injured. Luckily we weren't hurt. The biggest problem came at the end of the meal when we went to pay we were told they did not accept credit cards. We all felt this was not true and also did not have 100 euros with us. My husband was told go down to the bank. It's about 100 meters. We had no other choice and had to withdraw the money with an exchange rate fee of almost $30. This was the worst restaurant experience we have had during this trip. I would not recommend!

I ordered a vegetarian main course called a sweet potato and pumpkin goulasch over polenta. This was very tasty down to the very last bite! Oh yes, complimentary homemade bread is also included with the meal. There are at least two different types in the generous bread basket. In fact the only negative was that they could have used another waiter in the busy restaurant. Service was very slow at the beginning taking too long a time to first get a menu and then to order. But yet the service was friendly when they finally gave our table some attention. There are reasons why certain restaurants are very popular destinations today in Vienna. Mill Restaurant is deservedly right up there with the best of them!.

She likes something a bit more mild, and Issa delivered. When my eggs Benedict came out I wasn't particularly impressed by the looks of it, but the taste was amazing. The hollandaise sauce was so rich and creamy, and they were a little buttery, crunchy chunks of bread, I guess like croutons, sprinkled over the sauce. Get in my belly! The muffin that the Benedict was on was delicious as well. We both had fresh squeezed orange juice that was also outstanding. 100% make sure you come here for breakfast if you're staying in Vienna! I actually know what I mean by it .... but prob no one else will .... so I'll try to say it another way. The Welt Café is a consistently cool café that provides all the expected amenities of a Viennese café in its own quirky kind of way. And I really like that it specializes in a lot of fair-trade foods as well as organic. The clientele is quite varied although the nearby university certainly provides much of the customer base. In warmer weather their outdoor sidewalk Schanigarten is the popular spot, in cooler weather their brightly colored interior helps chase away the winter blues. When I am in Philadelphia, the World Café there is an iconic establishment. Well the Welt Café (World Café) in Vienna is on its way to becoming a classic as well.
