If you are looking for an authentic, quality Viennese breakfast to jumpstart your day of touring at the Schönbrunn Palace, Cafe Raimann is the perfect place to try out. Only a few minute walk from the nearby metro station, it's easy to access but you can tell that this place is the farthest thing from a tourist trap. It was pretty empty when we went on a rainy weekday morning, and the few other customers were clearly locals stopping in as part of their morning routine. They have an English menu and the server spoke decent English so thankfully there wasn't any serious language barrier to overcome. The food was good quality, certainly nothing to blow you away, but that's really not what you come to a place like this for. As a tourist you want to experience the food, culture, and daily life of the local residents and this place definitely delivers on that front. Their prices are quite good, noticeably cheaper than the cafes we visited in the city center. One thing to keep in mind is that they are cash only so come prepared! read more

Solid cafe down the road from the Schloss Schönbrunn and great for solo travelers. I always feel awkward eating alone but this place didn't have that "two or more" vibe at all. As in, other people were eating alone. Made me feel better. Menus are on the table in both German and English. My friendly server came over quickly and my food also arrived before I knew it. As in, I hadn't even taken a sip of my double espresso with milk by the time my omelette was dropped off. I'm kind of mixed on the omelette. I think it could've been cooked longer. The cheese was gooey, which was nice, but the actual egg was super runny. Not my favorite. I ate quickly and my bill was easy to retrieve. I was looking for a local cafe near the Schönbrunn Palace with good Yelp reviews. I took the metro to the stop before the castle and walked 5-minutes to this cute cafe. Don't be discouraged by the simple exterior - I would have walked by without thinking to enter if it had not been for Yelp. The Ambiance: I came around 9/10am to get breakfast on a Wednesday. This place was hoping with locals - little old men reading their newspapers and older women catching up. Since I'm an 80 year old at heart, this was my kind of spot!! For actual millennials, you'll like it too! It was clean and light with spacious booths. The Food: Their menu is bilingual in Austrian/German & English. Loved the yummy, but simple, breakfast selection. They had all kinds of egg options, different breads and small items. I was craving eggs, so I ordered two soft boiled eggs (conveniently peeled for you). They were just perfect- freshly cooked. I also got a ham and cheese croissant to get some carbs in. It was a nice crispy and buttery croissant, perfectly matched with the ham and cheese. Delicious!! The prices were also very fair. I thankfully chose to avoid overeating at my hotel for $20 euros and spent maybe $10 on two soft boiled eggs, ham & cheese croissant and hot chocolate with water. Drinks: The best bit was the Viennese hot chocolate I ordered!! I'm going to dream about that heavenly goodness for a while. If you're at this place, definitely order it over a cappuccino or coffee. It's a treat. They also served it with a little water glass since it's so rich. I appreciated that since most places don't give you water unless you ask/pay for it. Service: The waitress was equally friendly with me as she was with her regulars. She didn't completely forget about me, but also gave me room to enjoy. She was fluent in English, so it was nice not to have to try to mime and speak in broken Austrian/German. I was really impressed. Decent breakfast spot/cafe on the walk over to the Schloss Schönbrunn. We kind of stumbled onto this place as we were starving and in dire need of some coffee. There was ample, and I mean AMPLE outdoor seating which was really lovely. The server was really friendly and accommodated us with English menus after we asked. Google Translate can only go so far :) The einspanner was on point and I decided to buck the trend and order the eiernockerl. It was basically an egg scramble with doughy wheat dumplings - pretty bland, but if that floats anyone's boat, it was a pretty good bland dish if that makes any sense. read more

Breakfast at Cafe Raimann was one of the coolest experiences I had in Vienna! This is a traditional, off the beaten tourist path cafe. It was near my hotel, and would be a bit out of the way if you're in the city center, but it's easily accessible from the subway. I ordered a breakfast platter for 5 or 6 euro that came with flakey rolls with jam and butter, a soft boiled egg, cappuccino, and juice. The food was all simple and delicious. There's free, fast wifi, and newspapers to read (in German). It's the sort of place where you can enjoy a slow breakfast, and linger and relax. I'm not sure how typical this is in Vienna, or in Europe, but it was a fun and very different sort of experience for an American tourist. Note to non-German speakers: there's an english menu but you may have to ask for it. The waitress brought us an English menu only after we (unsuccessfully) attempted to order in German, and couldn't understand the follow-up questions she was asking us. read more

Very nice and traditional viennese Kaffeehaus. Always worth having a "grosser Brauner" (double espresso with milk) there. Very good newspaper offering (mostly german), pastry offering average, free wlan, no non-smoker. read more

I agree with my English-speaking friends. This is a little gem. Breakfast #2 was one soft-boiled egg, a croissant, a roll, jam, butter, espresso, and small OJ. It was served fresh and hot. The decor is old urban cafe - very fitting. Overall it was very good. I will plan to come back. My only suggestion for improvement is to accept credit cards. It's cash only. read more

First time for a traditional Vienna breakfast. They have different choices for breakfast packages. Server spoke good english, menu in english. Food arrived quickly. The croissant was delayed, I was told it would be a few extra minutes. This didn't matter as I was wake to enjoy the egg first. Croissant arrived warm, fresh and tasty few minutes later.
