As a tourist you want to experience the food, culture, and daily life of the local residents and this place definitely delivers on that front. Their prices are quite good, noticeably cheaper than the cafes we visited in the city center. One thing to keep in mind is that they are cash only so come prepared!

My favorite item ironically was their ginger lemonade--it wasn't too sweet so refreshing and was in a tall glass with long thinly sliced ginger in it--how I wish I had the recipe so I could replicate it at home. Not bad, but it put the hotel in perspective. If you want to dine out for breakfast, this is a decent choice.

During our visit, we enjoyed a simple dish of bread, butter, and chives--an Austrian classic. It was super creamy. I will be trying this at home. The highlight, however, was the Kaiserschmarrn. I had already tried this but I was ready for #2. Originating from the imperial kitchens, it is said that Kaiserschmarrn was created by accident when a chef, preparing pancakes for Emperor Joseph I, accidentally dropped them. Rather than discarding them, the chef cleverly added raisins, whipped egg whites, and powdered sugar before serving it to the emperor. Joseph I adored the creation securing its place in Austrian culinary history.

Unfortunately, the reality was far from what we expected. From the moment we walked in, we had to beg for a table and practically plead for any kind of service. The staff was inattentive, dismissive, and frankly, rude. It felt like we were a burden rather than customers. The experience left a really bad taste--so much so that we wish we had never gone in.
