I don't know the affiliation between this place and Dommayer. But it is possibly to be the same spot. I hate to say this but white privileges do help. So I was with a white tall person and we got seated right away with our kids. I asked for - wait for it, yes, Gluehwein, oh how I loved their Gluehwein here! it has a white and red version. I tried both and they were both delicious. The Wienerschitizel here is solid. and Kaiserscheman pancakes were perfect. We also had boiled beef and beef goulash. For dessert of course strudel. The service was excellent. The white table linen was lovely. You definitely get the Eastern European food mixed in with German and Austrian. For this untrained eye, I couldn't tell it apart from southern German food or Hungarian food. It is just basically Eastern European and German to me. But for an American, this is a good thing. We are hitting the familiar territories here. Unlike some American restaurants, they don't rush you here. You can eat as little as possible and you get served just as much. I would definitely come back here. A very lovely joint by the Palace. read more

great place for desserts! We stopped here for a late lunch as we were told that this place is a must stop! It was definitely a great stop! Had brunch at this café today and it was really delicious! I had egg dumplings with a fresh green salad. It's a traditional dish. Also had a cappuccino and orange juice. The juice was clearly freshly squeezed so I was very happy about it! Overall lovely environment with great service as well. However specialty menu is in German, so be aware of that when you visit! read more

What a great little secret outside the city center! If you are tired of the hustle and bustle of the old cafes in Vienna, but still want that oldtime flavor and feel of a Viennese Cafe, then head out to the more relaxed environment of the 13 District. Cafe Dommayer is just a short walk from the Hietzing UBahn stop and is also very close to Schoebrunn. The service there is impeccable and so much friendlier than I have experienced in the inner city. The decor is very traditional with a mix of wooden seats and tables and cozy velvetine banks. The place was packed at breakfast time, but I still found a seat at the window for myself and a friend. We both ordered the reasonably priced "Business Breakfest" for 7,90 that included coffee, fresh pressed orange juice, water, and a corn-sptiz sandwich filled with ham, cheese, cucumber, tomato and lettuce. Breakfast stopped exactly at 12 when the lunchtime crowd entered and menu changed. My friend tried to get muesli at 12 and they wouldn't bring it to her. They are pretty strict! I would love to go back in the summertime to enjoy the enormous open seating area in the garden, or at a different time of day to enjoy an Oberlaa dessert. We took the Wiener Schnitzel, the Knödel and the French onion soup. The Schnitzel were average; we tasted some better the day before, those one were a little too dry. The Knödel was a total surprise; we didn't know what to expect. It was good but very fatty. The plate was impossible to finish. And the French onion soup tasted good. + : the waiters were fast and nice - : food TOO oily, and the place is noisy (not as much as a pub, but loud for a restaurant) So : good, but could be improved. read more

Had a nice breakfast before visiting the palace gardens. Cute patio, inside and outside garden area. Didn't get anything too complex (eggs with truffle oil, vegetarian omlet) but both were good and the atmosphere was nice. The fresh oj though pricey was delicious! .2 L for 4 euro. Getting the bill did take a really long time because I think our waiter sorta forgot about us so I would recommend this place if you're looking for a place to relax, not a quick breakfast. read more
