I wanted to share feedback about my recent visit. I arrived 10 minutes early for my appointment, but no one came to greet or check me in for over five minutes. Two stylists eventually came out, but neither acknowledged me. When I kindly greeted them and mentioned I needed to be checked in, they proceeded to take two other waiting customers. When I asked if the salon was running behind, I was told that they were short-staffed and that I could either wait or rebook--without so much as an apology. I ultimately waited nearly an hour past my scheduled appointment time before being taken back. Throughout the experience, the staff was curt and condescending, which was both surprising and disappointing. I've been a loyal Drybar customer for over ten years and have visited locations across the country. This was by far the poorest experience I've had. If a stylist was unavailable, I would have appreciated a courtesy call so I could adjust my plans accordingly. I have now reached out through multiple channels -- including private message, email, and the post-visit survey -- and have yet to receive any response. I received numerous calls within a week of asking if I could accommodate time changes. I booked a certain time for a reason. I finally gave in and said I would arrive for the time they were persistent on. I waited 30 mins before being seen. The receptionist/perhaps manager? was awful. She washed me like she was in a hurry and gave me a 5 mins "scalp massage" like I were a dog at a groomer. Mind you I requested to pay for the additional service but it seemed like there was just a hurry to get everyone out. I have no complaints about my stylist (who did not shampoo me). She was great. Very friendly, funny and nice! She gave me possibly the best blowout I have ever received at Dry Bar. Sadly the next time I am in DC I will not be visiting. I frequently go to Dry Bar and arrived within the 15 minute typical grace period due to chaotic parking in DC. There was no one else in the shop and still an hour left for them to complete my 30 minute blowout. Whomever I spoke with said they don't do grace periods within the last hour, not sure if this is true because I couldn't find that information anywhere, but they charged the FULL amount which is ridiculous because I did indeed show up to my appointment. This is disappointing and uncalled for. If anything, I should have only been charged $25 for being late. I also ran over there because I knew I was behind due to not being able to find parking. I am very disappointed by this again as there was still time to complete my quick blowout. read more

New owner is no better than old owners, and actually worse. Does not care about you as a customer. I wanted to buy a pack of multiple blow dries. They couldn't sell them to (system broken), promised to call me back when things were up and running, and never called me. Still charged me full price for the one-off (even though I tried to buy more so I could get a volume discount). Made another appointment to come in - they had appointments ALL DAY, so I made one within 2 hours time. Yes, I am aware they have a 24 hour cancellation policy. How does that apply if you book INSIDE of 24 hours? My doctor called me and I had to cancel, so I called Dry Bar and they said no problem. To my shock, they charged me the next day. I went in store to explain what happened and could we not credit the charge to a future blow dry? "No" said the owner. What kind of attitude is this? Do you just hate revenue? Do you want to build a reputation for grabbing a $25 cancel fee when you COULD HAVE gained $500 in revenue, repeat business, and a customer who would advocate for you? The staff are nice, but the owner is not only rude, but clearly not interested in actually building a business. Avoid like the plague. read more

In and out with a perfect blowout and a complimentary drink in less than an hour, couldn't ask for a better lunch break! My hair dresser, Hair Mo (yes that's her name!), washed my hair in such a relaxing way that it felt like a massage! She did a stupendous job blowing out my long thick hair in 45 min and texturizing my hair. I received many compliments on my hair when I got back to the office. The best part? Complimentary glass of wine or champagne, the Rose was pretty good! Service was great, will be back! My hair stylist even offered me another glass, which I sadly declined. Note - They don't cut hair at this location and make sure to brush out your hair and no tangles (Hair Mo made me quickly brush them out!). Beyond terrible! Probably the worst encounter I've had with a drybar location and I've been going to Drybar for several years and I am a "barfly" member. I made my appt a week in advance. Received a call the day before asking to move me to a later time to be put with a senior stylist. The DAY OF I receive a voicemail the girl called out and they have to cancel my appt. No offer to try to rebook me, referral, nothing but just a "sorry" I book here and as a member of barfly as a reassurance that things like this won't happen. This was completely unprofessional! If I didn't have positive encounters at other locations around the world I would cancel my membership! read more

As someone else wrote - where's the zero star button? I have a Barfly membership and go to locations in the Seattle area, Chicago, Boston - all amazing. I mentioned to my "stylist" that I have very curly hair and he would need to start with the round brush right away instead of what they normally do. Got a snarky response. Ok maybe he was having a bad day. Went to have my hair washed and the front of my dress ends up drenched. I ask for a towel - and was basically thrown one. When the blow dry starts the stylist does exactly what I asked him not to do and my blowout lasted exactly one hour after I left the salon. Do yourself a favor and find another blow dry salon. read more

Drybar was sold to private equity two years ago and everything has gone down hill since then. First of all there's no customer service. They kept the survey after your appointment even though no one reads it or responds to it like they did in the past. And added a second survey, with multiple reminders, asking for a google review. The regional operations manager will not respond to any complaints. They had to close last year for a few months because the a/c went out. After they opened the heat wasn't on in the middle of winter. One time I got a phone call that they were backed up and needed to cancel my appointment, I was on my way in so I went in anyway. I observed that they called and cancelled everyone after 5pm even though two stylists will still working until closing. I'm sorry but if you have too many appointments on the book and not enough stylists, that's something you should realize in the morning or the day before and call another stylist in at the last minute. People book drybar appointments because they have somewhere to go afterwards, its not something you can just reschedule. This a horrible way to handle your business! They frequently run out of shampoo and I asked my stylist if I need to bring in my own and she said other customers do. They no longer serve drinks, nor have a sweet at the front desk or yellow roses. They now allow your stylist to check you out which means they are asking you how much you want to tip them. They have high turn over on stylists which is a shame that they can't keep them happy or paid well. The ones that do good hair leave. read more

Meh. I get now why this location has low stars. Normally, I love Drybar. But this location is definitely the worst of those I've been to. It's clean enough. It has the same look as all the Drybars. It seems near impossible to get an appointment. But I wonder if that's just because they don't have much staff? The front desk staff were meh. Offered a drink and never brought it. And seemed to spend as much time not at the front as possible. The stylists are...fine...I guess. I was definitely very underwhelmed with my style. Welp...after years of giving the DryBar my best effort today was the last straw!! I book an appointment using the app as I normally do. I get there 20 minutes early and they tell me they can take me because their slots are filled up. Here's where I call bullship...the girl at the front desk said my hair takes an hour. There is no option to book an hour.....The girl at the front desk said my hair takes an hour I feel there is a hint of hair discrimination. Two MAJOR issues, if you knew that why didn't you put me in for an hour or why didn't you call to say we can't take you. The slap in the face, I asked how will I be compensated for this inconvenience..."we can offer you a scalp message". No one is happy in there. It's now a miserable place. This was the worst experience I've ever had. Myself and two friends were in town for a wedding, booked three dry bar appointments for wash and blowout. We tried to call saying we were running five minutes late, no answer. We arrive and they immediately were on the defense saying we were late so they now only had time for dry styling... we were going to a wedding and all had dirty/greasy hair, spent a few minutes trying to ask them if they could wash and start blowout given we all knew our own hair and none of us have super long or thick hair, all easy styling wise! They kept arguing with us, meanwhile they had multiple staff members not working. They were far from accommodating, they were rude at the front desk and even when styling our hair had some rude comments and bad vibes. We all ended up redoing our hair when we got back to hotel so it was a waste of time money and energy! They didn't even try to work with us... worst part was, 2/3 of our dry styles were done in LESS THAN fifteen minutes total....... So they absolutely would've had the time to wash and style at that point AND no one was waiting for an appointment after us despite them saying they were too busy, it was empty. Absolutely wish we got our money back for the entire experience and I almost never write bad reviews for anything. They should be closed down. read more

Got the worst hairstyle imaginable by a snarky, arrogant stylist who didn't listen to my consultation and then when she didn't do it right, brushed it out like she was trying her best to rip out every strand of hair on my head. This was right before giving me the most backhanded compliment about how grateful she was that I hadn't installed any extensions in my thin hair. She said it's because all the stylists there hated the people who had extensions due to them being so hard to work with. So, fair warning, ladies with extensions who go here: the stylists hate you for making them work with your difficult hair. Long story short, this woman totally destroyed my hair, I couldn't even salvage it in any way after going back to my hotel, due to not having any supplies with me (like I said I was at a hotel. I had trusted DryBar to style my hair for a gala I was going to that day), and I was unable to go. My husband I were both devastated and I was utterly humiliated and heartbroken. I've reached out to their regional manager and store manager several times and for whatever reason they want to make me talk this over again and open that wound again even though they have all the info and photos, instead of just issuing the refund, so here I am. Didn't want to, but y'all forced my hand. It's been weeks, DryBar managers. Should have just refunded me. read more

This place really needs some support! My stylist was pulling my hair so hard, I asked her to be more gentle and she wouldn't. She had her ear buds in the whole time. I asked for waves and had these miss shaped curls. When she asked if there was anything I wanted to change, I asked her to soften the wave (loosen it). She refused and said my hair was fine and so it wouldn't work. Totally rude and Ridiculous since that is the style every other dry bar gives me. The check out person did jump in and fixed my hair. I want to share feedback on my experience so customers are forewarned. Granted it may be about how I look (asian) and where I am from, but still... The worst and most unpleasant appointment I have ever had. When I arrived the person who was there glared at me and said "Do you have an appointment?" no smile. Granted I was 5 mins late fro my appointment, but he was still doing someone else's hair and I had to wait another 15 mins. While waiting, the other staff member who was there walked in from another room where she was doing another client's hair and asked me (also rudely with no hello), "when did you come in?" I said "about 15 mins ago". She then said "well we have no time to do your hair as he (my stylist) has someone else soon and so you will have to get a simple straightening (dry style) and no full blow- out". I am not sure how that would have been possible to be honest as he (my stylist) was still doing someone else's hair when I walked in. But I did not want an argument at the start of a hair appointment whcih would ruin my experience so I just complied. He was very rough with my hair, pulling me head the whole time. Then when finished, he has the audacity to try to charge me a tip as percentage as part of the original appointment (full blowout as opposed to dry styling). I did tip the highest amount because I feel staff are underpaid or they would not be so rude, and it was the day before the thanksgiving holiday and I wanted to be generous, but he really did not deserve it from the service he gave me. When the next customer came in, the other stylest started making negative comments about the customer saying " have you seen the notes on that next appointment?" and made a face. All in all a horrible experience, when you go to a salon to feel good! I would never go back and I don't know how a salon can keep operating with such bad service. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. I've been to other dry bar locations in the past and have always had a great experience. I came here from out of town and wish I would have read the reviews for this location first. My stylist listened to nothing I said (my hair has a hard time holding curls, so use as much product as possible). Barely any product was used. She was pulling my hair soooo much it was painful. She mentioned they were understaffed but didn't cancel anyones appointment, so maybe she was rushing and/or trying to get her frustration out on my hair. She finished in like 30 minutes (fastest dry bar I had been too, but the job was rushed and horrible). She finishes, turns me around and says "we don't have any hairspray" Ummm excuse me?! I'm paying $55 for a blowout with barely any product on, 100° outside, and you don't have any hairspray or anything to put in my hair to keep it?! Absolutely horrible!!!!! I asked for the southern comfort and the picture is what I got. I could have done a better job myself. I'm going to have to redo my hair myself before my event. I should have read the reviews before booking here. I made an appointment a week prior for 3 pm, at 1:15 I got a voicemail to come in at 2:30 or 2:40 or my appointment would be canceled. I called back at 1:25 and said I wasn't sure if I would be able to get there early, to which the receptionist said well those appointments are no longer available. What? No explanation of what had changed in 10 minutes. They referred to "the notes", I have no idea what that meant. On my end, I had put that I'm Black and needed a stylist who was able to do my hair. I would come here more often if I weren't worried about hearing damage. But the music is always cranked painfully loud (see screenshots for proof). I love the location and the stylists are talented, but I hate risking my own hearing--and patronizing a place that sacrifices the future hearing of its employees for the sake of a party atmosphere. [Screenshot shows peak volumes of 104.8 decibels with instantaneous decibel levels at 87.0] Update: After I sent the "Buttercup" address my information, I received the following unhelpful response from Drybar corporate offices: "We really appreciate you sending us feedback in regards to the our music. We certainly only aim to curate a playlist that cultivates an upbeat, energetic environment for our clients and stylists but we of course understand that not everyone is going to enjoy. You are more than welcome to bring this up in shop to our bartenders and managers to address as we never want you to feel uncomfortable!" Does corporate imagine that I never asked for the music to be turned down? I did, on more than one occasion, until it became clear store management was willing to make only minimal volume changes and wanted the music blasting as a default. I had a subscription ("Barfly Membership") to this store in the month of July, then cancelled, giving customer service the explanation that I was worried about hearing loss for myself and the employees. No one contacted me about that feedback. Why? It's because the store doesn't consider noise pollution a health issue. However, I predict that this store's policies will lead to OSHA lawsuits down the road. read more

I requested a blowout scheduled for 3pm. I received a call at 9am the morning of that the stylist called out sick and they would need to reschedule for 1pm. I rearranged my schedule to accommodate the new time switch as I had to fly out this same night. Upon arriving I asked for a stylist who KNOWS HOW & COMFORTABLY can process a blowout on my hair. They selected & assured me the stylist they provided knew what she was doing. After 1 hour only 1 out of 4 sections had been blown straight. In the midst of her finishing my hair the manager sent over an additional stylist to teach her how to blow and straighten my hair as if I was a model for aveda school salon. I reminded them that it has been over an hour & I need to return to work. After the "completion" of my hair I spoke with the Simone S. the manager requesting a discounted or free service in the future due to the terrible service/experience I just received. Over the course of this 2hour journey, I spoke to Simone S. was not empathetic nor sensitive to the fact women hair is a symbolic representation of power & how we feel & carry ourselves. THE LEAST she could have done was hear out my concerns & issues, apologized and found a common ground. Instead, she continued to cut me off while speaking and telling me "it was my choice" to have the service. As I read most of the recent reviews, they all have something in common. Women of other with appointments being cancelled or rescheduled at the last minute and a terrible experience if any. This locations service & behavior needs to be addressed and corrected. read more

When I tried to recommend how we could fix it, I was told "no you cant" and then asked if I wanted hairspray, essentially rushing me out and offering me no solution to the god awful blowout that they just gave me. Further, I waited 25 minutes past my appointment and another 10 to pay. I wasted my time and somehow was the one being punished for it. I tried to be patient and understanding, but when I saw the finished product I was really upset. I had to go fix my hair the best way I could at home prior to an event. Avoid this place at all costs. This was a HORRIBLE experience. Appointment started 25 minutes after scheduled time, no time to understand what I wanted - so the stylist was like, you want curls - great. Resulting in the stylist butchering my curtain bangs so they were sticking out at a right angle from head and I have my engagement shoot in an hour. Stylist was clearly sick, coughing, sneezing and sniffling. Stylist did not apply heat protectant and I could hear my hair snapping and breaking in the flat iron. Stylist keep disappearing throughout the appointment for long periods to cough. Stylist also stabbed me in the eye twice with her fingers and a large hair clip. Stylist was also pushy about tip while checking out -- asking if it was cash or venmo. I was shocked because I would have preferred to use my credit card on file and my service had been so bad that I didn't want to give a tip. My appointment was supposed to be 40 minutes but I left at 2:50, so it took an hour and 20 minutes. This made me late for my makeup appointment. I left in tears. I had asked for my bangs to be fixed twice throughout the appointment -- I was assured they would be. Photo is in the car, and I look like I have an 80's mullet. It's so bad. I was told there was nothing more they could do because the stylist had already started on her next client. I want a full refund. read more

The excuse was that someone requested the stylist who book i was on at 1 pm and my hair LOOKED like it would take longer than 30mins. The kicker is the stylist had another client in her chair when I arrived. But the 1pm was a request so it trumps my appointment. They told me to return at 3pm while I was standing in front of them at 12:30.. no accommodation. no consideration, Just discrimination. read more

First off I want to say my actual stylist Jourdan did a fantastic job and I would recommend her. She was sweet and knew what she was doing with my hair. My dissatisfaction lies mostly with the front desk service. I had a 3pm appointment for which I showed up on time. I was told there would be a 30-35 minute wait because someone had called in sick. I get it things happen, but not something you wanna hear when a business takes your card information just to reserve your spot and charge you, the customer, in case of a no show, emergency or not. Why is there no reverse in a situation like this where the establishment offers a discount in the event something like this inconveniences the customer instead? Anyways I keep my appointment and I sit and wait. I'm called back around 3:40pm, and my hair is washed and the blow out is nice (again, my stylist was great). When I go up to the front desk, they try to push products on me, and I cave and get a small hairspray. The lady asks me which card I want to charge it all to, the card they had on file, or some other card. I request it all be charged to a new card (the blowout, the hairspray and the tip) and hand it to her. She assures me all is well and handled and I would get an email receipt. I step out of the store and my card that I had used to hold my reservation got charged for the whole thing instead. All of it. I go back inside the store, and a different associate has to initiate refunds (still pending at this moment by the way, hasn't dropped back into my bank account yet), and then charge my new card that I had requested everything be charged to. It seems there's a lot of carelessness in how the customers are getting treated by the front desk/reception area. I don't understand why the music is so damn loud over there when you called you barely can hear the receptionist and vice versa. They kept asking the same questions when you're trying to tell them the same thing over and over. Get a proper phone and agent so we don't have to keep yelling our last name or repeating requests. This place is also constantly running behind. Also no one wants to see movies from 15 years ago. Mean Girls & The Devil Wears Prada are for teenagers. No Gen X wants to watch those movies. I went in for a blow out because I didn't have time to do my own hair, & my normal stylist was booked. Tishawn was my stylist, & she did a good job blowing out my natural textured African American hair. The front desk with polite & professional. My appointment was for 12:15. I was at the shampoo bowl by 12:25. I was offered a glass of champagne which was nice. Overall the shampoo, blowout & flat iron was around an hour total. I would definitely go back when I am in a pinch, but this is not a substitution for my normal stylist. Street parking only, cards are accepted. read more
