She put me at ease as I have a major fear of needles. I didn't feel a thing. The place was also clean and private, and check in was all automatic at a kiosk. She is so slow, checking on everyone's insurance information, asking for money up front; activities which should be done prior or after blood draw. People were waiting in line for lab draw for hours but she was moving like a snail and she had no concern about that. Her main goal was to ensure payment from everyone whereas everyone is coming with a Doctor referral and of course they have insurance. She should not be dealing with patients during check-in which should be a faster process.

Tamara is my new favorite person!…read more I had an 8:15 appointment since I was fasting and wanted to go early and was seen around 8:22. She apologized and let me know she was the only one working that day. She also let the walk ins know that they might have a wait since she was the only one in office, and let them know a few other locations close by. I asked if I could lay down since I'm very afraid of needles and she was happy to oblige. After seeing that I was really nervous and that my veins weren't showing a ton, she let me know she would use a small butterfly needle and that I would barely feel it. Usually I get super nauseous but I barely noticed the needle. In the past, other nurses have had to move the needle around a lot or poke twice which makes me really sick, but she was in immediately. It was also SO FAST! I've had my blood drawn probably 100 times in my life and this was the quickest and easiest. If every blood draw were like this I probably wouldn't have any needle phobia. Such an amazing woman and impeccable care. Next time I need to go in for blood work I will call ahead and make sure she is working. Truly exceptional!

Then I checked the other urgent care locations and saw they were at least the same price. They do tend to prescribe medication more often here than other places, but when I've expressed concern with a specific Rx I had issues with, they were quick to find an alternative. The biggest reason I love this place is the time it takes. I'm usually out the door in less than 15 minutes (with an appointment). That includes greeting reception, getting vitals from an assistant, answering questions about why I'm there, talking to the doc, and leaving with my visit summary. I don't come here when I'm feeling well - I want to be back home, wrapped in a blanket, hopefully with some antibiotics or medication to make my plague less miserable. More than any other place I've been, this checks that box. If you're looking for a conversation about how your family is doing, make an appointment with your PCP. But sometimes I find myself having to get poked or prodded, for instance, this trip to LabCorp for blood work. And while it's not something I want to put on my calendar every day, I have to say this experience was about 1,000x better than it might have been, so woohoo for that. First, I love that you can just make an appointment online -- super, super easy. I actually got on the computer at 10 and made an appointment for 1 p.m. same day. Second, if you're in West Seattle (or close by) it's really easy to get to. There's parking on the street and inside, and it's a small place in a quiet neighborhood, so much less hassle than trekking to First Hill if you don't have to. Third, I walked right in and was next; no waiting. In fact, I learned when I got there that I didn't even need an appointment -- apparently it's not a long-lines-of-people kind of thing to get blood drawn, so that was good to know just in case. (I am a nervous type and like making appointments.) The surroundings were honestly just so-so; there's a main lobby that's nice, but I was in the lab lobby, which feels more like a waiting nook at an old hospital, but it's fine. The room where the blood was drawn was a little small, and another guy came in to have his done while we were wrapping up my procedure, and that was just a little weird -- I am by far not the worst person about having to give blood, but I don't particularly want to watch someone else's pool up into a vial or bag, either. But the best part was Kristy who checked me in and drew my blood. She was funny, chatty, supportive ("You can grab my arm if you need to,") and kept me laughing as we talked about terrible self-published ebooks. Most importantly, she got that needle in so easily I honestly barely even felt it -- I actually had to check to see if she'd gotten started. And it was over quickly. So high-fives for this office all around!

I also got extremely light headed after they 3rd poke (don't know if it was the heat or my reaction to getting a needle inserted multiple times with no result). The shop is super well-equipped and clean. We also had the pleasure of meeting Christopher, the owner, he's a true car enthusiast and an all-around great guy. It was my son's first time working on a car and Christopher made us feel completely at home. It was clear he genuinely cares about both the cars and the people who come through his shop. We'll definitely be back!
