I've been to this LabCorp several times, always hoping my experience the previous time was a fluke…read more I'm not gonna do that again, I'm never coming back to this location and I'm not just not gonna use the LabCorp anymore. Places do not get this bad unless it's management and leadership that absolutely does not care about patients. That said the employees here are also apathetic and honestly hateful. It's like they hate you for needing blood work. Check-in is chaotic, wait times are a fiction that they invent to sound good but are not reflective of reality or your real wait time whatsoever. Appointments are meaningless. Check-in is absurdly, complicated and annoying, requiring you to re-enter so much personal information that you already entered and that they already know. I asked a simple question at the front desk - there was no one there at first, so I had to wait 10 minutes for someone to show up, though that person completely ignored me, so I had to wait another five minutes for someone who actually cared. They didn't care very much, but they at least acted like I existed, which is a plus for this location. My question was do you even have a lab order on file for me? They said we don't have that information. The place that's supposed to perform the lab work somehow doesn't have the ability to look up if there's a lab order for me, that's what the front desk person told me. That is how useless they are. That is how hateful they are. That is how much they do not want to help. Do not go to this location. There are other locations if you want to use LabCorp that are not much further, and are so so much better. This location is the worst medical experience I have ever had in my life, and I've lived long enough to have had some pretty awful ones.

I'm not sure that writing reviews about a laboratory will matter because people have to go there…read moreregardless. But, for the sake of feedback to the management if they care, this place is so chaotic. The signage is terrible, it's not clear where you are supposed to wait, it's confusing whether they want you to check in in person or use one of the kiosks, nobody looks up to help you (it actually feels like they are trying to avoid you if I'm being completely honest) and it's just all in all a messy experience. It's like this every single time. I'm in healthcare myself and I feel like I'm able to navigate things a little easier than some people, but when elderly people, cancer patients, overwhelmed people, etc., are trying to get their blood drawn, adding this kind of stress to their already stressful life is just unnecessary. Having said that, the two times I've had to be here in the last few months, at least the actual phlebotomists were competent and kind. I do have to say that nobody seems to be enjoying their employment here. They are professional, but if you look around, no one seems happy to be there.

It's a shocking fact about me that, unlike most people, I am not a huge fan of medical procedures…read more I know! Take a moment to absorb that information. But sometimes I find myself having to get poked or prodded, for instance, this trip to LabCorp for blood work. And while it's not something I want to put on my calendar every day, I have to say this experience was about 1,000x better than it might have been, so woohoo for that. First, I love that you can just make an appointment online -- super, super easy. I actually got on the computer at 10 and made an appointment for 1 p.m. same day. Second, if you're in West Seattle (or close by) it's really easy to get to. There's parking on the street and inside, and it's a small place in a quiet neighborhood, so much less hassle than trekking to First Hill if you don't have to. Third, I walked right in and was next; no waiting. In fact, I learned when I got there that I didn't even need an appointment -- apparently it's not a long-lines-of-people kind of thing to get blood drawn, so that was good to know just in case. (I am a nervous type and like making appointments.) The surroundings were honestly just so-so; there's a main lobby that's nice, but I was in the lab lobby, which feels more like a waiting nook at an old hospital, but it's fine. The room where the blood was drawn was a little small, and another guy came in to have his done while we were wrapping up my procedure, and that was just a little weird -- I am by far not the worst person about having to give blood, but I don't particularly want to watch someone else's pool up into a vial or bag, either. But the best part was Kristy who checked me in and drew my blood. She was funny, chatty, supportive ("You can grab my arm if you need to,") and kept me laughing as we talked about terrible self-published ebooks. Most importantly, she got that needle in so easily I honestly barely even felt it -- I actually had to check to see if she'd gotten started. And it was over quickly. So high-fives for this office all around!

I also got extremely light headed after they 3rd poke (don't know if it was the heat or my reaction to getting a needle inserted multiple times with no result). They sent me to Lapcorp, and the lady was done drawing my blood in less than 1 minute. I went early in the morning and there was no wait.. thank you Lapcorp!

This is coming from a guy who's dad was his primary care doc for many years, too. She has my complete trust, and she is genuine in her care. The same goes for Dr. Friedman, who I've seen a couple of times while Dr. Sheckter was out. Barb is also a really caring and wonderfully constant presence in their office. I was in horrible shape and was in line to have terrible heart disease, high blood sugar, high blood pressure, etc etc etc. This team If you're looking for quality care that's genuine, this is the place to go.

Only much later did I really learn how important it was that she knew enough at the time to run the test for the specific type of diabetes that I had. In 26 plus years I have had so many needs for her expert care or referrals to other medical specialties. I also cannot say enough good things about the other caregivers that she has referred me to. I have certainly put Dr. Sheckter to the test of all of her knowledge with my laundry list of ailments, yet she passed all the tests. First, she listens well. Second, she always has the knowledge to make the correct answer. This might mean knowing when the specialist needs to be called in. Third, she clearly communicates what needs to happen next. I come from a family of medical professionals and have first hand knowledge of what excellent treatment looks like and this is it. The whole office experience is intimate, friendly, and just plain first rate. M.T.
