Great location for such an unassuming, yet delightful 'shack'! I stopped off here after a day of skiing Mt. Shasta, solely because of the 50% deal. I was not disappointed - the place was very inviting and unique. The cashier was extremely friendly, and made some great recommendations for me. In the end, I chose the Bacon Overload burger (I accidentally referred to it as the 'overlord', which generated some well-deserved snickers from the chef!), with a side of garlic fries. FANTASTIC! The combo was amazing; great flavor, and LOADS of garlic on the fries. Just the way I like it. It wasn't hard to get to; the freeway ramp was closed, so I managed a slight detour, but upon arrival, found plenty of parking options. I chatted briefly while waiting for my order with a guy who stops here everytime he visits his kids at Oregon State University in Corvallis - faithfully, on both legs of the trip from-and-to Sacramento. Pretty impressive to draw such a following! I'll definitely be back on my next trip through town, myself. read more

Um just Wow! Tiny space to place your order but plenty of outside seating. I got the veggie bowl with chipotle dressing and omg it was sooo great. It was rice and beans topped with cabbage. The dressing was very delicious. My partner got a chicken sandwich with fries. It looked amazing. I guess it was because he ate every bite. The fries were the best I have tasted in a long time. We've enjoyed Yaks on our way north to Oregon but now it's Drizzle. Stopped for breakfast and unfortunately the music at 730am was obnoxiously loud, and not a mellow playlist either. I asked the staff if they could turn it down (we were the only customers) and they said they weren't allowed to touch the controls. Yaks makes me want to yack. This is a tourist trap praying on the bad taste of out-of-towners. The mural is hideous and the music is too loud. The indoor area lacks ventilation. The signage claims that everything is made from scratch but you can look into the kitchen and see that is not the case. AND the new coffee cup lids fall off every time, SCOLDING people with hot coffee. I kindly let the barista know and she implied that I did not know how to use a cup. Makes me almost want to go to starbucks. PLEASE GET BETTER LIDS. Or maybe someone should sue you for scalding their skin like McDonalds. read more

Still not entirely sure where "Yaks" ties into all of this, or every last detail of their menu, but what I DO know is we ate here THREE times during our vacation -- two dinners and one breakfast -- and are already missing being able to dine here again! Their burgers, fries breakfast burritos absolutely hit the spot, and were perfect bookends to our days spent there. The place was always a zoo, and it's no wonder based off the food, but it also doesn't hurt that they're one of a handful of places to eat in Mt. Shasta, LOL. They're also open the latest, so that is a big asset for them as well. Additionally I had a cookie from Drizzle that was quite good, and I'm not sure if it came from Downtown Goodies next door, but that place was also a zoo too, with many happy faces exiting with all kinds of treats. Quirky spot in downtown Mt. Shasta. Good place for a burger and a beer. Staff is kind. Service is fast. A bit overpriced for bar food. They try hard to put their own spin on their dishes, however everything tasted similar because it was all made on the same grill. read more

How can I not recommend this place??? The burger came small but tall, smothered in jalapeños and cheddar and went down so well. I still feel the one-two punch of that fine burger with intermittent root beer slurps even now! Heavenly. Be prepared, though. No tables inside. When in the Shasta area this by far is my favorite place to grab a sandwich or beverage. The food is always made fresh and served piping hot. The variety of burgers combine flavors you normally would not find and one realizes with each bite just how well they blend together . The fries were perfectly cooked non greasy and lots of them. One of my favorite breakfast Oder is a cup of their specialty coffees compliment by the gluten free cookies. Great outdoor seating and the best part is dog friendly. They offer a variety of vegan dishes and when asked for your name to attach to the order they offer a bowl with lots of creative options or choose your own. Super delicious discovery during our recent camping trip to Mount Shasta! We had the burger and salad - both were incredibly flavorful! The burger came with crispy garlic fries (with actual fried garlic in them!) and the salad was gigantic with a plethora of toppings. I think it's one of my favorite salads I've ever - that's saying a lot coming from the Bay Area where the offerings are plentiful and competition is stiff. We loved the food so much that we came by for breakfast the next day. We noticed alot of people ordered iced drinks so we got the berry smoothie and green smoothie - both were delicious! There's plenty of parking in front, side streets and behind. Also plenty of outdoor seating. Definitely worth the time to stop by for breakfast or lunch! So why not 5 stars??? FLIES, flies and more flies!!! I can understand the flies outside on the patio (though they can help this by actually cleaning the tables between seatings or providing the supplies so customers can clean it themselves) but the armies of flies INSIDE is pretty gross. So owners, please deal with the flies!!! It was like attack of the flies here. Also it's pretty gross to have utensils sitting outside without covering them - we had to rinse off our plastic utensils because they were covered in soot (?) from the fires. Just leave the utensils inside and clean up the flies!! But alas, this is how tasty the food was given we still came back and simply acknowledged we may be getting extra fly protein! Not sure how on earth they passed food inspections with the flies but final word, food was delicious!!! Also staff were really friendly and the customer name ordering system was hilarious.
