I got the southwest bowl which is vegetarian with rice, beans, kale and their chipotle sauce. A little spicy but not overly so. My boyfriend got some kind of chicken sandwich that comes with bacon which he asked to leave off and they were able to accommodate. This was our second time here. Our kids freaked out with excitement and wanted to come back when they heard we were coming to Shasta. The food is insane. I just asked the server what her top 4 burgers were and just had her order those for us. The fries are crazy good. Everything about this restaurant is top notch. Fast service too. In total our party ordered 6 burgers and 2 fries and they were out within 15 minutes. Music level is great outside. No heaters so bring your jacket if it's cold. But the food will heat you up great. I used to come here when it was Yaks, year after year. Generally at lunch but sometimes early morning. All I can say is this morning I went to get coffee because it was closer than the place I normally go. I thought why not, let's give it a try. First, the music is so loud that no one can hear anybody. I'm not certain whether that's designed to discourage connection, but it certainly works. 7 in the morning my ears and entire body feel assaulted by loud percussive noise. Then the cook decided to slam a drum beat out in the kitchen. I walked in and 3, 3 people behind the counter, not waiting on anybody, chose not to greet me. Took some time for the gal at the register to finally look up and take my order which I had to repeat because nobody could hear anybody. Won't be going back, at least in the morning. Such an amazing little spot to stop on our way out of town! We stopped in Mount Shasta for the evening to split our 8 hour drive from the Oregon Coast to the Central Valley in half. I was looking for ice cream last night after we checked into our hotel and found Drizzle, but only had a few minutes before they closed so we opted to swing by for coffee and breakfast in the morning instead, which was honestly the highlight of our trip home. My husband got a breakfast sandwich that had the softest bun/english muffin and gravy on it--I can't remember what it was called but it was, in his words, "the best breakfast sandwich he's ever had" and as we were leaving, "the best breakfast we've had this entire trip". I got the Smokin' breakfast burrito; my husband ordered it for me and I was a little nervous it was going to be too spicy, but it was the perfect level of spice and had so much flavor! I had a hard time not finishing the whole thing because it was so good. Our coffees were delicious; I got my usual Americano and my husband got the Mexican mocha and loved it. The barista was nice enough to split our toddlers smoothie into two small cups so she could hold it easier. The patio outside offers plenty of seating, the staff were so sweet, and I loved how instead of order numbers they assign pet names, like Susie Q and Cutie Pie. My only criticism (and I won't dock a star because the rest of our experience was so amazing) is the bathroom. It smells very strongly of urine and wasn't super comfortable to bring my toddler into, but some enzyme cleaner on the floor around the toilet would probably solve that issue. Overall I'd give this establishment a 10/10 and we will definitely add it to our stops on future trips! read more

I am giving Yaks shack a 3 because I've definitely just had better burgers in Redding and in general. First of all, I have to say I love the service the names they give you when you order are super fun and the service is great. I love how there's different house made sauces to try but I wouldn't come back. The black and white mocha latter was overly sweet to the point we couldn't finish it and the coffee tasted like it was instant. At first I really liked the garlic burger I ordered but the second bite I took I was given a spicy pungent mouthful of garlic which just really ruined the burger. When I was looking at the menu I thought the "garlic spread" was a garlic confit but it's just a whole bunch of minced raw garlic. Don't get me wrong if you really like that raw and spicy pungent garlic flavor and that's the only thing you want to taste than this burger is for you but it was definitely not a personal favorite. The chicken was also pretty bad and covered in oil. Definitely had higher expectations for Yaks Shack. read more

It was our first time here, recommended by a friend. We stopped here to eat before setting up camp. The pictures all looked really good so we were excited to try it. All seating is outdoors on a cute patio. The service is very casual, you grab a menu and place your order at the counter. The staff was friendly and welcoming. I had asked if I could have a side salad instead of fries but they don't do that which is kind of funny because they put mixed greens, red onion and tomatoes on the burger and make their own ranch dressing. They make everything from scratch including all the sauces and even the bread. My friend went with the Don't go Bacon my heart and I chose the Fun Guy. My friend liked her burger but didn't like the garlic fries as they were too salty, after trying them I agreed and I really like salt. It definitely was not worth the $3.99 up charge we both paid as we couldn't eat much of them unfortunately. My burger was tasty and fresh. The bread was really good as was their ranch. The meat is a good portion. I wish they cooked the grilled mushrooms and onions to a caramelized color but they were tasty nonetheless. They give everyone silly name cards that they yell out which kept giving us a good giggle as the names were things like Bro, Macho Man, knight in shining armor. I'm having a tough time with this review. Yaks used to be one of my favorite places. It's been a minute since I'd been there and I think the changes over the past few years have made it less good. I know they still have a loyal following and to get clear nothing was bad at all. But the loss of table service, no more complimentary sweet rolls, and still significant prices are difficult to reconcile. Also the Scott's tots taste different now, almost sweet and the burger was less flavorful than before. I hate to be one of those "back in the day..." but I can't help it. We were driving through town and I said I want to eat at the colorful corner spot! It looks cute and busy. I had no idea what we were going to get get. Outdoor patio is clean and shaded. You order at the counter and they give you fun name cards for your order. My favorite name they called was "giggles!" We were Godzilla. I went with the build your own and my husband went with the smiley. The meat was perfectly cooked, there homemade sauces were delicious and the garlic fires were good.
