AND 10/2025, third time is the charm... THIS is my GO-TO mechanic from now on with this 3rd GREAT experience. I'd been taking my car for oil changes to a place near my work, downtown. Recently they did some brake work and gave me a list of things to fix &/or watch. There was one item, in particular, a leak in front axle, that needed repair (replacement). I decided to shop around. I called 2 other shops that I've used and are in town. This shop not only beat the price of the other 2 by over $100, they TRIPLED the warranty on the work! I've never been surprised by a bill. They tell me up front how much it will be and if they find something extra during the work, they call and discuss with me before they do anything. He looked over the list of "issues" and said none were bad enough to fix right now and we'd watch them. When I take it in for oil changes, they'll monitor them. And, on top of that, I've never seen SUCH NICE STAFF at a garage. Everyone I've worked with was smiling and friendly and EASY to work with. Working with them going forward is a no-brainer. Both my grandfather's were TRUSTWORTHY mechanics... these guys do them proud by continuing that tradition. (How often do you see a HEART in a review of a garage!?) Thank you, Cutting Edge!

I had just had a horrible experience at another auto repair shop - and had basically been given the impression that my car was on its last legs. Thankfully, these guys put my concerns to rest. They not only took the time to explain what was going on with my car, they showed me, literally inviting me to see my car when it was on the lift so that they could educate me and point out what they were talking about. Not only did Amy and Annie do everything possible to get me in and out before my ETD, they were both warm and funny and authentically welcoming. Ari and his team are knowledgeable, skillful, and compassionate. While handling my tune up they found and resolved many issues for me, and alerted me to additional issues that might wait until after I return. Ari took the time to go over in detail, with both photos and drawings, everything that they discovered, and how they fixed the most pressing problems. They even popped my rear bumper back into shape where someone had caught the edge. Ari was keenly present and patient while reporting his findings. He answered all my questions and made helpful suggestions regarding what might be the next priortiy to address when I am ready. I walked away smiling, feeling like I received so much for a super reasonable final bill. I am beyond impressed. Little did i know that Ari thoroughly ripped me off. He initially told me via text that my bill for the work would be $1100 plus tax but when i arrived to collect my vehicle, the price was more: $1587.51 Ari explained that my van needed new software for the electric engine and of course Chryslar charged for the software but having called the dealership after, I learned that Chryslar didn't charge anything for new software, Ari charged me $495 for software and charged me for labor (an hour) which normally takes 15-20 seconds to upload. He told me that he had to replace the electrical harness to replace the broken hood latch switch. If I had the foresight to order the hood light switch on Amazon, it would have cost $35.00, Ari charged me $225.00 for this item. After paying for service, I noticed that even though supposedly doing a overall performance check, ($75) they didn't bother to air up one of my tires, leaving me in a lurch and having to get it done somewhere else. At the performance review, Ari explained the repairs still needed on my vehicle, these included two new tires, a tuneup, allignment, replacing the spark plugs and other maintenance stuff. Of course, Ari and his technicians could do all of these repairs. He said that spark plugs would cost $400. When I looked them up on Amazon, they were priced at $99.00. I won't take him up on his offer to do the work on my vehicle. Thank goodness, I didn't make another appointment with Ari! Don't read any of the positive reviews, they were written by owner Ari. If you notice, the positive reviews are only a paragraph in length, whereas the negative ones are longer to include all of the complaints. I noticed advertisements for Master Tech in our local newspaper. How many mechanics need to advertise their services? Only the ones that have alienated previous clients, only the ones that are beginning to see their over charging finally costing them their reputations. Santa Fe is a "word of mouth" town, Ari 's karma is finally catching up to him and unfortunately, to the rest of the technicians that work at his garage. I told my friend that he needs to find another job. Even though I had to pay through the teeth, and I felt like I had been scammed, the garage fixed my car. It really was a win/win.

We dropped our car off on Thursday morning, telling them that the engine code was P0017 and that it…read morewas an issue with the timing chain. We actually called them on Tuesday. So, called on Tuesday, told them about the code, and dropped the car off on Thursday. Thursday afternoon at 4, after hearing nothing, we call them. They say they won't be able to get to it until Monday because they aren't open on Fridays (no info on this on the website). Monday morning, "Ron," the "owner and manager" and also idiot, calls me to tell me that it will cost $10,000. He doesn't tell me what they diagnosed or provide any details. He tells me they called our warranty company, but that the warranty company probably wouldn't cover it. (The warranty company disagreed) I asked for a list of the repairs needed and how they knew it would cost 10,000 dollars. He could not and would not provide it. I asked him if they did an actual diagnosis or just looked at the codes. He said they "did a full diagnosis". The more I pushed back, the more stupefied Ron got (not a hard task to complete, stupefying Ron). When I asked him how he knew what a cam phaser was, he said they wouldn't do any work. Then he told me they actually had done no diagnosis and just looked at the codes. So, for 4 days, they had a vehicle, they performed no diagnosis, they had no idea if the P0017 code was a cam phaser or a solenoid. Ron said, "This is a common issue, and we always replace all parts." By Ron's admission, they gave me a 10,000-dollar estimate with no work done or assessment performed, just going off Ron's big gut. He did send pictures to my girlfriend when i had her call of the parts list (no verification it relates to my vehicle). Though there is a bigger problem that iin 2026. Ron doesn't know how to use an email. So, Ron (505-474-6515) is a scammy, garbage mechanic who takes advantage of people and lies to them. Do not trust them, do not bring your car here. Taking it to an abandoned parking lot will be a better use of your money than coming to this swamp pit. Anywhere would be better than Ron and his merry band of misfits.

Our family recently purchased a 2017 US-made runabout with short of 100k miles for twin 15-year-olds to learn to drive and get around town and relieve their mother of taxi duties in the long run. It needed quite a bit of work to bring it up to snuff, though the base vehicle is still solid and has a lot of life left in it. We did some of the cosmetic and easy stuff (replace sun visor, engine air filter, cabin air filter, change oil) done ourselves, got the used-car dealer to fix the front sub-frame that was bent and out of alignment), and postponed some longer-term work (brakes eventually will need new pads in the rear). But this 1.8L "interference" engine will be destroyed if the timing belt fails, and they recommend replacement every 100k miles, so we asked this shop to put replace the belt, water pump, and thermostat so the twins won't have to deal with catastrophic engine failure when on the road as new drivers. They not only did that and replaced the rear struts (leaking) with the new ones I had shipped to us, but they did it in around a day of shop time. The car was ready far sooner than we expected, and everything was in perfect order. This shop is also part of the network the used car dealer employs for its own warranty work, so the car is covered in case anything unexpected turns up in the next year. Top marks!

My coworker referred me to Santa Fe Auto Tec for a second opinion on some clunking noises my car…read morewas making, and I'm glad I went. The previous shop I went to told me I needed to replace my front suspension and a few other things. Ron at Santa Fe Auto Tec did not charge me for a second opinion. He found that my suspension looked fine, and the clunking was from a loose CV axle nut. He tightened the nut and the clunking sound was gone. I paid what I feel is a reasonable price for 1 hour of labor - much better than what I would have paid to replace my suspension at the other shop, which would not have even solved my problem! It can be hard to find a trustworthy car mechanic but it seems to me that there are some good ones here. I would definitely recommend this shop.
