I had let a friend borrow my 2013 BMW 135i to drive from Denver down to Santa Fe New Mexico .for a few days . I had just purchused the vehicle from CarMax a couple months earlier . While on his to Santa Fe he got overheating messages and had to pull over multiple times to finish the last leg of his trip . This was on a Sunday , Monday morning I called Automotive Resources and spoke with Matt he was able to get my BMW in for service right away, shocker was he was able to get the necessary parts (Water Pump) and have them installed by 4pm it was truly a miracle and saved my friends trip as he needed to be back in Denver Tuesday morning . My wife said she used to really like this place so I gave them 2 stars instead of just one. We brought our old pick up over to get checked out. It's a spare vehicle so we don't drive it all the time. The battery was dead, the engine light was staying on and some of the tires looked low. After a few days they called us up and said they didn't find anything wrong so it was ready to come pick up. About a week later I wanted to use it to take our dog to the dog park and it wouldn't start. The battery was dead. I jump started it and then I had to put more air in the tires. LOL. We just made an appointment with Toy Auto Man to have them handle the issues. read more

The employees here are very kind, but I question their practice and pricing. I chose this place because of its good reviews, but maybe I should've done more research first. I brought my car in after calling, knowing it was leaking oil and that it was most likely an issue with the oil pan, and I let them know that even before I dropped the car off. He quoted me $67.50 for a diagnostic, which seemed slightly ridiculous, especially since I already knew (for the most part) what was wrong, but still mostly understandable. I promptly received a call back informing me that my oil drain plug was stripped, so the oil pan would need to be replaced. My original quote was $763 for an oil pan replacement and an oil change/filter replacement. It ended up being lowered to $731, and then again to $630. This still felt a bit steep to me, so I called my family mechanic back home and he quoted me about $350-400. I then called another shop in the area and was quoted about $300 for the same repair. I let them know that I would be taking my car elsewhere, as I could not afford that repair charge, and was told that my oil leak diagnostic would be $86. No work whatsoever was done to my car, just a quick check to see exactly what was leaking. Again, it is understandable to be charged, but being charged that much when I had told them from the beginning that I knew the car was leaking oil seemed a bit ridiculous. When I tried to ask about the charges, my questions were completely ignored. The employees I spoke with were usually very patient and kind, but it definitely seems like they're overcharging. I attempted to ask about the pricing for the diagnostic and did not receive a proper response. I know that repair shops need to mark up a little to make a profit, but trying to charge $600+ for a $300-400 repair is unfair. I'm sure this would be a good place to go for some repairs, but I will most likely be taking my business elsewhere. I appreciated their attention and care to my issue, but again, especially as a college student, I do not have the money to pay almost twice as much as I should for a single repair. read more

I meant to take my Jeep to another repair shop closer to my home. I accidentally copied the wrong phone number from the online search page. I called and made an appointment for a few days later. I went to the shop where I thought I had made the appointment, and I found that I was in the wrong place. I called the number through which I had made the appointment and then drove across town to keep the original appointment. They told me it would take about an hour and a half to perform the oil and engine air filter changes. I asked where the waiting room was, and was told there was none, but I could sit in the chair by the service rep's desk. I opted to walk to a nearby restaurant. When the time was up, I returned and was told they could not do the repair as the drain plug was damaged and they needed to order a new one. I opted to make an appointment for a later date instead of waiting around. I showed up on time for my new appointment and was told they couldn't start on my vehicle as there was another vehicle ahead of me. (What does appointment/reservation mean?) When I returned 90 minutes later, they hadn't started on my vehicle. Back to the restaurant. An hour later the oil change was completed, but they had gotten the wrong air filter, and I would need to come back again when they found the right one. It's now been a week, and I haven't heard a word. I've decided to order and install one myself. It's not rocket science, after all. The replacement filter should be here tomorrow. While gathering my tools and looking over the simple job, I noticed a screw completely loose on the air filter cover. Fortunately it was still loosely in place and I was able to tighten it. I have invested $150 plus 5 hours of my time for an oil and filter change plus replacement of a damaged drain plug. Next time, I will find a more reputable and capable shop. read more

My 2 sons were traveling from Minnesota to Arizona. The "Add Oil" light came on and they pulled off and added oil. They noticed oil dripping from the bottom of the car and decided this was not good. They called AAA and got the car towed to Automotive Resources in Santa Fe, NM. As my sons are not mechanical, I had them give me the phone number to the shop. I called and talked to Anthony Vigil who was very professional. He explained in detail to me what all was wrong with the car, what needed to be replaced and exactly how much it would cost. I am mechanical and understood exactly what was going on. They got the car finished in a timely manner and back on the road. Anthony even went to the hotel my sons were staying at and picked them up to get their car. Being this shop is AAA approved, all parts come from NAPA, and AAA give you a 2 yr nationwide warranty on the work. I'd like to take this opportunity to recommend this outstanding auto repair shop. I unexpectedly broke down outside of Santa Fe and called them to see if they could diagnose the problem asap and they said no problem, that someone would be there whenever I arrived...I was towed there and they acommodated me right away, found the issue and got on ordering parts. While I waited they gave me a ride down to Trader Joe's, yay! Unfortunately my part took overnight to get and as I was from out of town they gave me a ride to the store and a local hotel to stay, rescheduled other jobs to get me back on the road as quickly as possible, installed the parts by noon the next day and picked me up. They work on ALL makes of cars, from the most modest drivers to the most elite... I was treated with utter respect, courtesy, professionalism and friendliness by ALL of the owners and employees and the best was made out of a bad situation!! Thumbs up, thanks guys!!! read more

My wife and I were traveling from SF BAy area through Santa Fe on way to Austin, TX and had my 1993 Mercedes Diesel with us. When we arrived for the holidays with the family, my glow plugs and fuel could not take the freezing cold temperatures and so my vehicle would not start. I contacted AAA to get a tow and they gave some recommends and I ended up choosing this shop. I spoke with Jack on the phone and he insured me they had experience with diesels and Mercedes and not to worry they could handle my repair. Now my first situation that happened was not their fault. The parts were not available on the Friday between Christmas and New Years, I get it. The parts actually come from Las Vegas and take a full day to get there, so on Monday they began the work. Jack called me to tell me that 2 of the 5 glow plugs were damaged on delivery, so they were not going to have my car ready until Tuesday, New Years Eve. What were we to do? Nothing. I was stranded in New Mexico and this was just something that neither of us could do anything about, so we waited until the next day's parts were delivered. Tuesday comes and the shop gets busy on my car and by noon, I call and talk to the shop's owner and he says come on over the car is ready. He then says if I wait another hour then they could get it washed, the "washer" was out for lunch. Now, I don't have any problems with lunch for everyone, but you would think that after the car had been there since Friday, they could have had it washed and ready to go. After all, if you wash clients' cars for them and you knew that I was in a rush to get out of town and back to my job, then get it washed the day before when the parts problem happened, so that everything was ready to go. This being said, I do not nor did not EXPECT a car wash from the mechanic shop, but to have him say he would like to do it, but didn't have time or a person to do now, just didn't make sense to me. Not a deal breaker though. When I entered the shop, everyone was friendly, the shop was very clean. These are the strong points to any business, but especially a mechanic shop. So kudos to the shop for being so professional and extremely well maintained! The big problem came after we picked the car up and went on our merry way towards Austin, some 700 miles away. We left Santa Fe around 2pm and by 4 pm we started to smell diesel in a very strong way, so when I pulled over to get gas the next time around sunset, there was fuel leaking out of the injector area. Now it was dark and I was so ready to get home I just pushed it and continued on. The car was starting and running strong, so I figured a little leak could not stop us from getting home. When we got home the next day and in the light I was able to see that several of the hoses that connect the vacuum lines were leaking and one was very bad. We had endured hours and hours of a very strong fuel smell and stress wondering if we would make it home or if the car would just burst into flames. It was very stressful form me and my pregnant wife. It was a DRAG. I call the shop and leave a message because it is New Year's Day now. The next day, Jack calls me and apologizes. I accept the apology, he then tells me that the technician who worked on my vehicle, said that he noticed there was some leaks, but didn't do anything about it. This is where I have to go with a ONE star. I mean come on, you are a shop and it is your responsibility to insure a safe working vehicle. That is what we pay for when we come to a professional. I paid almost $800 bucks for work, that by the way was done satisfactory, but letting a vehicle leave the shop you know has additional problems is unacceptable. Furthermore, the technician was even able to recall that he saw leaks from 3 of 5 of my injectors, but again did not tell Jack or anyone else that this was happening, just let me pick up the car and leave. This is what really stinks. Jack did say he would check back with me, apologized again, and said "what do you want me to do?". Of course, he never checked back in with me and I am sure he is embarrassed as well, but this is where the shop dropped the ball. I am sure that since I don't live in the area and probably would not be bringing my car back to the shop, they can live with the fact that I am upset and feel like the work being done here is not very thorough. They won't be seeing me again. If I did live there, I would be down there voicing my concerns, which is why I am writing this long review. Do your homework with this shop, stay active in the repair and don't just count on the AAA recommendation, as that is what I did and then had this issue. I have already called AAA and filed a complaint with them as well. Hopefully this shop sits this technician down and has a long conversation with him/her about how to do a complete job and when to step up and tell someone they have additional problems. read more

This operation is one of the best I have ever worked with over the past half century, and I have worked with many while logging probably over 5 million miles for both work and vacation. The AR team checks everything thoroughly, provides you with a itemized list with exact cost for both immediate and long term needs, and then lets you decide on priorities. They are also the only AAA designated shop for Santa Fe, so of course they do not have to "sell" you anything or "pad" the bill, as they have sufficient business without yours. I own two cars that are both approaching 200,000 miles, and they are great about keeping them in a reliable state and then advising you about what to watch out for in the near future. I have also gotten to know the mechanics, and they are extremely experienced about a wide range of automobiles. I had a car breakdown in Santa Fe in August, 2016. Automotive Resources was recommended by AAA so I had the car towed there in the middle of the night. I am not from SF so I stayed the night. I got a call from Guy (?) of Automotive Resources first thing the following morning to set up an appointment. I got to the shop and explained to Guy (I hope that I got his name right) that I was not local. He promised to try to fit me into a very busy schedule. And that is what he did. The car was ready within a couple of hours. The problem was fairly minor and Guy did not try to sell me anything that I did not need. Did I mention that the shop is immaculate and everyone looks and acts extremely professionally? This was a great experience and Automotive Resources has a new dedicated client.
