To be honest, came to Yachats with the intention of hitting up Yachats Brewery and then was disappointed to find that they were closed for the season. But it ended up being a good thing because we came to Drift Inn instead and loved it - the cozy tavern ambience and aesthetic, the great cocktail list, the friendly and amazing bartender/service. Also loved that there was free live music, which I'll take whenever I can get it. My boyfriend and I shared a cobb salad and pizza and both were pretty good. Will def be back. read more

My daughter and I came in for lunch around 2:00 PM on 8-7-24. it wasn't busy so we were seated immediately. 10 minutes later a server finally showed up and asked about drinks. we each ordered a glass of wine and our food. The food came out very quickly and was mediocre at best. My chowder, a small portion for $13 was bland and thin, my grilled Caesar lackluster at best. My daughters black bean burger was ok, though dry - $18. An expediter delivered the food and we were 2/3 through the meal when we were finally able to flag down our server who never stopped by to check on us and ask about our wine that we hadn't gotten yet and a water refill. Overall, very mediocre and overpriced food with very poor service. Even my daughter who waits tables for a living said she wouldn't leave a tip. Unfortunately, the restaurant policy is that 20% is added to each check regardless of the number in the party. So we paid 20% on top of the bill for sub- average food and very poor service. A tourist stop that relies on single visits from unknowing visitors who won't be back. Not recommended. read more

This place knows how to throw down the good vibes. The atmosphere is so cool and funky! Potato pizza-Yukon gold thin sliced potatoes, manchego cheese, onions and prosciutto with olive oil, rosemary and garlic sauce. This was a good choice. I stayed at the Drift Inn while visiting Yachats. It's not just an inn (which I booked on Airbnb), but also a restaurant. When I showed up to check-in, I was directed to the art gallery where a nice woman led me to the inn to give me a tour of the place. I chose the Blue Room because it's my favorite color. The room faces the street. Make sure to close the blinds upwards so passerbys can't see into your room. The room is tiny, which was not an issue for me since I just needed to sleep in it. The bed was comfortable, but I couldn't get the tv to work. The inn had a mini kitchen area (mini fridge, sink, coffee). There are three bathrooms: one full with shower, toilet, and sink; one toilet; and one shower. The bathrooms were really clean and had shampoo/body wash for you to use. It's reasonably priced at about $50/night. I had no complaints. I enjoyed my stay. It's within walkable distance to the market, brewery, and a few other restaurants. I didn't walk to the beach though, which didn't seem very far. I stopped into the restaurant to grab dinner. It was pretty packed, but I found a spot at the bar. They have a pretty expansive menu, but I ended up ordering the $22 prime rib meal at the recommendation of the server. The meal came with a soup or salad, which I chose the seafood chowder. It was very tasty. The prime rib was a great choice. It was delicious and perfectly made. It came with roasted potatoes and green beans. I was really satisfied with my meal. Service was pretty good. My server was friendly and patient when I was undecided with what to get. There's plenty of parking around the inn. There was a guy in the corner performing, but he was barely audible. read more

We have been to Yachats many times, usually camping at Tillicum but we rented an Airbnb this time! We have never been here though. We were happily surprised to eat at this place for dinner. So much to choose from. I had the Persian bowl, which was ok but I felt like it would have been better with mushrooms and no fruit. More savory I guess, but it was good. My boyfriend had the steak though and loved it. Went again for breakfast today and had a scramble with biscuit. Yum! So this is a great find! Friendly service, portions are huge, and clean. I love the stained glass lights and windows. We ended up going there for coffee before we left and they took us into this back outside covered area. It was really nice! I had a lemon poppyseed GF muffin. Yum! The kids had a waffle and my boyfriend had French toast. So we ended up sort of eating a second breakfast. It's fair to say all loved it! I will begin by saying I am willing to try Drift Inn again when it's not jam-packed. The host situation was absolute pandemonium. The guy, bless his heart, had no idea what was going on, kept announcing that he "lost his list", and was trying to get the customers to keep track of who had been waiting longest. There's also no recognizable place to wait like a podium or something. The cocktails we got were very nice, the bacon-wrapped jalapeno "poppers"? were $12 and there were three of them and they were miserable. Overcooked and floppy on a bed of chopped romaine. Tasted ok, but very strange and very overpriced. I'm looking forward to visiting when it's slow, then updating my review. They seem to have a good thing going. read more

The Drift?!?...more like "The Grift" ATTENTION all unsuspecting Tourists: The food here is mediocre AT BEST. The coffee is HORRIBLE. The service EXTREMELY slow. On top of it all, this place charges an obnoxious "compulsory" 20% for the privilege?!?...AVOID this sad excuse for a restaurant. Simply have a look around and take your $$ to one of the other cafes/restaurants in town and have a great experience. One last note: With regards to the Compulsory 20% "gratuity", if you are unhappy with the food or "service", simply pay the entire bill (minus any gratuity) in cash and walk out. The Drift's "mandatory gratuity" is NOT Oregon law. You ARE required to pay for the food and drinks, however, you are NOT required to give a gratuity, REGARDLESS of what The Drift management/owners say. Hope this helps! read more

Great food and cool ambience. I don't mind at all an automatic 20% charge for a gratuity , which is included in every meal, but yikes if you are going to do that, at least please have good service. The last few times we were there we just kind of sat there ignored for a while before anyone even took our order , brought us drinks or anything , then it's a rush when they remember. Tips would probably be better also if you offered drinks before taking the order. The experience just kind of starts out as a bummer , the last couple times we are like , oh man I'm starving, they are ignoring us, they seated us at a dirty table....should we leave ? Wow! What a delightful place. We eat here quite often & always find the food excellent. Their Belgian waffle is delicious, as are the omelettes & scrambles. We are vegetarian so I cannot speak on their meat dishes but nobody ever looks like they left unhappy. They do add an automatic 20% gratuity to the total of each check with the gratuity shared among the staff THE BEST PART-Our server MASON! Our visit tonight was difficult to rank. We were here on a visit a few years ago and loved it, so when a couple of friends wanted to travel to Oregon we suggested Yachats as a place to enjoy. Six of us had dinner here the first night and everyone enjoyed their meal. The atmosphere is really nice and the music by Dave and Crate very good if you like 60s, 70s and some 80s pop. We talked with a band member during a break and shared we were originally from Detroit, and they asked if we like Bob Seger and when we said yes they played two Seger songs. The downside tonight was our server. Two of the women shared a salad as part of their meal and he had to be asked twice to bring a second plate. I ordered a chicken breast sandwich and was given a beef burger, which I had to send back and our server apologized. One person ordered a beer and another a tea and he had to be reminded to bring them their drinks after everyone else at the table had theirs. I don't know if it was a bad night or just too many tables as it seemed that there might only have been two servers (perhaps a third?) at dinner time. But it brings up the current policy of many restaurants who choose to include an 18% tip as part of the bill. Our group starts at 20% and the server can only work their way down if they don't serve us well. If the server goes above and beyond they certainly get 20% and on occasion more. We spoke before asking for the bill and decided on well less than 20% and were bummed when the 18% tip was already added to the bill. We decided not to make a big deal with management but we're all disappointed that the tip was added. Bottom line: food very good, atmosphere very good, the band good and the service below average. And while we totally believe servers should be properly paid and that some tip very poorly even with good service, automatically adding a tip to the bill just isn't always right read more

We stayed at the hotel and dined here as well. The hotel was clean and the staff was exceptional. The hotel is very close to the beach. Coming to the restaurant, just make sure to make a reservation. Out wait time was 30 min. The breakfast was very good. The staff were friendly and polite. I got the 1. Smoked Salmon Omlet (5/5), came with potato and biscuit. The salmon was great and the omlet was fluffy. 2. Costal Berry Crepes (5/5), The filling was little sour and sweet. A great combination to start the day. Got here around 3pm, and they were plenty of people eating but the place wasn't crowded. The interior was rather dark, but I found that really pleasant and relaxing. I ordered a cherry Italian cream soda, prawn cocktail, drift in crepes (with ham) served with home fries, and apple walnut custard pie. Shrimp cocktail and pie were amazing. I was not a fan of whatever cheese was used in the crepes as I found it too strong, but the crepes themselves were very good. What an amazing place? I was just overwhelmed with the quality of the food, quality of the service and to top that- the live music. The place has a history to itself which it lists in their menu. Stoped by the Drift Inn after a long day of road tripping on the Oregon Coast and it did not disappoint. The atmosphere was exactly what we were looking for - cozy and casual, like an upscale version of your favorite dive bar. Also, live music every night! We had already eaten so we just got a few beers and the Marionberry Cobbler for dessert. The cobbler was delicious, warm and crispy, which was perfectly complemented by the vanilla ice cream - also the perfect size for sharing. The environment is fun to be in we listened to live music and sat in a cozy corner. The service was excellent as they were quite busy with only a few servers available. They're open for limited indoor seating and have a covered/heated patio area too. Inside where we dined, they've installed old multi pane windows between booths and the bar seating/bartender area. It actually adds to the already unique ambience. Service was great; got us seated and our orders taken quickly. The usual friendliness is still there. For lunch we opted to go with an old standby, crab quesadilla with salad, and chose the halibut fish and chips for a new twist. Food came out in a reasonable amount of time. Overall the food was mediocre today. The crab was especially "crabby" tasting while the fried halibut was tepid making it a bit firm inside with a bit soggy outside. Be aware, they've added a 20% gratuity onto the tab due to increased cost for cleaning and such. No complaint here; they're especially good and letting everyone know in advance. Every time we've eaten here we've thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Food is consistently great, service is excellent, housed in a neat old building. Their menu has something for everyone on it. Sometimes it's difficult in small towns to find dietary accommodations for vegans/gluten free folks. Drift in has lots of different options for me and all that I've tried so far have been delicious. Got a grilled Caesar salad, I have had many grilled salads before but WTF was that? The croutons were black they were so burnt. This was a carry out order. I did with anyone else would do I called and spoke to the manager Zoe, lol I said this salad is wilted and looks gross not to mention the croutons are burnt, he response back was hold on let me check our crouton bin. When she came back on the phone she was like oh well I checked it and no burnt ones in there they all look golden brown. I was like are you serious? I feel bad leaving only 3 stars, but it wasn't a 5 star experience. The PNW Scramble, which has smoked salmon in it, was actually pretty good. It would have been better if it hadn't sat under the warmer on the counter for 5 minutes. The woman who was waiting was very nice and friendly, but I didn't love that the staff communicated by shouting across the restaurant. This restaurant was recommended by a couple of people. It's a funky little place that is easy to overlook from outside. Their outdoor seating garden area looks lovely and has heat lamps but we opted to eat indoors on a chilly day. Staff were pleasant and attentive, even when someone in my party wanted to switch tables. My date and I shared the Tuna burger and the seafood chowder. The Tuna burger was delectable with seared just-right tuna accented with Brie cheese and fig jam. Wow - it was so good - definitely give it a try. The seafood chowder was just so-so. The description said it had salmon in it - but there was none. So it was basically a clam chowder. It wasn't super creamy but the broth was still tasty. We did enjoy the meringue dessert! I'd return here, but I'd stay away from the chowder only bc there are so many other delicious items on their menu. read more

I ordered their Chicken and Waffles and they took their own time to even realize that they don't have the dish. I ordered the food and they took 20 mins to come and ask me how I want my eggs done. When I told them I want it scrambled, they took another 20 mins before they informed me that they don't have the chicken and waffles anymore and asked me if I want to replace it. It literally took 40 mins and I was waiting here the whole time staying hungry, when they informed me they don't have what I asked for, this is totally unacceptable customer service and the most infuriating part is they charge 20% mandatory gratuity for this. I have never had such a bad experience in any of the restaurants I have gone to before. So, if you have 1 hour to wait, after you get seated and order, before you get your food, then by all means come to this restaurant. This is a nice popular place along the Oregon coast in Yachats. If you're on the way, don't forget to stop here. There is live music everyday, the place has a cool history, the ambience is pretty extraordinary inside and the food is just great. There are a lot of vegetarian and vegan options which is pretty rare in coastal cities which focus more on seafood. The service is great too. It's a bit pricey but the portion sizes are quite big so I would say it's worth it. The place is quite popular so reservations are recommended but you can walk in and wait as well. The wait can take up to an hour depending on the size of the party so be aware. read more

Terribly disappointed in the taste and flavor of the margarita pizza we had. It must be "The COVID-19 Excuse," you know the one employees are telling the pubic: "Oh it's because of COVID-19." We ordered a simple Margherita pizza, we think they used a flour tortilla as the crust. Some cut cherry tomatoes were sprinkled stingingly on top with a tiny amount of thinly sliced basil. I've never been disappointed until now; I thought there was no such thing as Bad Pizza until eating Drift Inn's attempt. Between their non negotiable 20% gratuity and 5% city tax, I will never return and advise others to go to panini bakery in Newport, Oregon, just a few miles away. What a gem! Easily my favorite stop on our trip down the coast. Visited both the inn and the restaurant and each were excellent. Our room was clean, quiet and thoughtfully designed with whimsical, artistic touches. Our dinner and drinks were delicious -- house cocktails exceeded my expectations with fresh housemade syrups and pickled fruits. They had live music in their dining room (every night it seems) which gave a nice ambience and they even piped it to the speakers on the patio. The layout of the complex is sort of like it's own little cozy community. We loved how there were stairs from the back of the restaurant we could take that connected with the path right to our room. Highly recommend a stop or stay if coming through the area. Can't wait to return! read more
