The prior company had to partially dismantle the stairwell to get things into the building and the end cost was twice as high. Moving from the same brownstone to an elevator building with detailed rules and regulations, this time in mid-winter-- even with sub-zero temperatures, 2-foot snowbanks and a disorganized client, JP Urban was wonderful. the process of planning the move and arranging the advance paperwork with JP was seamless. Once I started unpacking boxes and moving items out of my garage, I found significant damage. One antique table that belonged to my grandmother has clearly been mishandled. There are two places where there were shreds of wood on the corner. I was unpacking boxes that were supposed to be books they packed, and I got about halfway through one box and discovered that they threw two glass shadowbox frames in with the books. One of them was shattered. Thankfully it was the one I hadn't yet filled with photos. The other one would have been disastrous since it had photos of my dad who recently passed away. Even novice movers know you don't put glass frames at the bottom of a box of books!!!! I'm seriously afraid to see what else got damaged in the numerous boxes I have yet to unpack. It's pathetic.

One of the kitchen packers opens lid of my spice box (I had leaves and chillies puts his nose in sniffs and asks what is it? 3. Packed every little thing in white wrapper so unpacking was hell. Single stainless steel spoon wrapped in 4 layers of packing . 4. Who does this .packing open can of bleach with groceries. While unpacking I saw white dust thought its paint once I hit end of box it was bleach so ended up throwing everything from that box. Which professional mover does that 5. Random packing. I had very organized closet but they picked random items and packed in diff boxes so i had box with sweaters pillow covers photo frames and belts all from diff parts of closet. LASTLY we were given pricing we paid that by bill and paid $800 extra over that without receipt as they demanded that they packed box. When vector gave me a quote it included 10 medium boxes $20 per box but the guys packed everything with white wrapper in kitten not one but 4 sheets and increased boxes packed to 30 , unethically charging us for small boxes stuffed with white paper. When we got to the new house, his attitude didn't change either and got into an argument and was disrespectful to a family member and said she should have respect for the movers and get out of his way. But it was when I spoke to my neighbor that all the pieces of the puzzle came together because she told me that they were outside complaining how the office understaffed for this job and I'm not saying they didn't record because they did but I had the wool pulled over my eyes because the office understaff then and then hit me with a $400 overage at the end of the move.
