BBQ Baker

We come here all the time because my parents LOVE this place. The staff is very friendly, and the food is very good, so I understand. Start off with the sandwich bread and BBQ sauce (which is slightly spicy). What we got: Sides - these are large. And it's a TON Fried Okra: love their white sauce they put on it Fries: good fries but nothing special Entrees - appetizers make very good entrees Smokehouse quesadilla Big daddy loaded house chips Smokehouse Cobb Salad BBQ Baker - one of my favs from their menu

Dreamland doesn't miss. Ribs are one of the best in mobile. Not the cheapest bbq but very good. 20.00 for 4 big ribs and 2 good sides

Wow, Dreamland BBQ has the best ribs I've had in a very long time. One bite into the rib was perfect, tender, juicy flavorful, and the meat did not fall off the bone. Was delicious of vinegar based thank you and flavorful. The restaurant has ample tables and booths in view of the barbecue pit. It was wonderful watching the pit-master mastering his craft. My rib plate came with 2 sides, I had Mac & cheese and fried okra with a beautiful presentation. Once you walk in the door here immediately seated your server will take your order. Excellent customer service.

Don't go here!!!

On 11-1-25, we visited Dreamland BBQ in Mobile AL. WE WATCHED CUSTOMERS WALK OUT THE DOOR!! Disgusting!! The restaurant is grossly dirty. The attitude of the waiter at our table and the manager were unfreaking believable!! Our experience was so bad that if someone told me the stories of what happened on the cool November Saturday night in South Alabama, I wouldn't believe it. The waiter acted as though he would rather be anywhere in the world other than waiting on people at Dreamland BBQ. And the fact they he would rather sit in the back on his phone while our food sat in the pickup window and then get pissed at me when I asked if our food was supposed to be to be cold. Then he goes and gets another BBQ sandwich with what was suppose to be homemade potatoe fries for me and brings it back to the table and slams it down and says "here ya go!" I mean, I'm sorry what?? And that second sandwich & whatever type of homemade fries they are serving were still cold. The food tasted ok but my husband and I prayed we wouldn't get sick from what we ate. My hubby had the ribs/pork beans/cole slaw. Ribs were cold, pork beans were hot from coming out of the can into the mircrowave. The coleslaw. Not sure where that came from but it is what it is. They need to have a corporation overhaul in this restaurant. It has gone to the dump, the prices are outrageous for what use to be a great place to get some good ole southern BBQ. THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT NEEDS TO INVESTIGATE THIS PLACE AND ITS EMPLOYEES, starting at the top and working their way down. Don't believe my review. Go try it for yourself. But you have been warned by a concerned citizen from Mobile AL!

We had a great dinner at Dreamland BBQ! From the phone service when we called to ask if they could accommodate a large party, to the floor service from the moment we walked in until the time we left, everything was excellent. The family special was recommended, and it did not disappoint--the food was absolutely delicious and there was more than enough for everyone. Lexus, Keland, and Jasmine were amazing and made the experience even better. We will definitely be back!

Best ribs around, I drive from Mississippi, just for the ribs. There isn't a restaurant on the MS Gulf Coast with decent ribs.

Based mainly on the food compared to other barbecue restaurants across the country, I give Meat Boss a solid four out of five stars. It's worth checking out. We rolled in with a group of eight around 12:20pm on a Friday. Luckily, we were able to combine two tables in the side room and sit together. By the time we left (shortly after 1:00pm), the dining rooms were full. This place is popular. We shared large orders, family-style, of ribs, pulled Boston butt (upper pork shoulder), pulled beef brisket, and pulled chicken, along with sides like slaw, fries, mac and cheese, "Boss" beans, and Conecuh sausage. In addition, for the barbecue, we got all the sauces: sweet, sweet and spicy, Carolina, spicy Carolina, and white BBQ. LeAnne could tell we were visiting from out of town, so she came to our table and brought us a couple of containers of Meat Boss's "rib candy" on the house. The menu describes it as "award-winning smoked rib meat, caramelized with Sweet Boss Sauce, brown sugar and honey." The entire meal was delicious and satisfying. The ribs were firm and a bit chewy (not my favorite) and I didn't care for the rib candy, but everything else - barbecue, sauces, and sides - was quite tasty. The sauces were a must. The white BBQ sauce on the pulled chicken was a memorable combo to me, but in general, all of the sauces on the barbecue were flavorful and mouthwatering. The slaw and beans were probably my favorite sides. If you're unfamiliar with Conecuh sausage, Conecuh is a famous smoked pork sausage brand from Evergreen, Alabama. The restaurant itself is situated in a humble, home-like structure. Inside, the vibe is very casual and laid back. Not "modern" or anything like that. Old school. Guy Fieri visited and featured Meat Boss on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives Season 39, Episode 1: "Smokin' Southern Decadence" (March 1, 2024). As we were leaving, LeAnne came out to the covered patio to give us suggestions on things to do during our visit to Mobile. She was really nice and sort of like a mother to us. Thank you, LeAnne! Meat Boss opened in December 2012.

Slaw seemed like it was something they purchase. Burnt ends were not what I am looking for. Pretty tough, they had good bark, so I was hopeful. As others have mentioned, it's a bit off the beaten path, but certainly a worthwhile stop if you enjoy bbq. This business has more seating/space inside than it looks like it might outside. We arrived and parked near the entrance in the gravel lot. It looked like they were working on a food truck while we were there. Stepping inside, it was dimly lit but clean. There are some nostalgic kids' games on the tables which provided my dad with lots of entertainment (Hungry, Hungry Hippos anyone?). The service was very kind and friendly and took care to ensure we were comfortable. I thought the prices were a touch high but they probably have to be to stay afloat. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich with two sides, collard greens and smoked mac and cheese. My parents did the same thing, though I don't remember what their sides were. I thought the barbeque pork was really quite solid. It was a huge portion, so large I ultimately wound up taking the top bun off, spearing hunks of pork and putting sauce on them, then tearing off a hunk of bun rather than eating it as a traditional sandwich. The pork was tender but not mushy, not too fatty, and with a pleasant smoke flavor. The bun was nice and soft too. Definitely recommend the bbq! The sweet and slightly smoky thick bbq sauce was a great accompaniment. I liked the mac and cheese on first bite but as I kept eating it something about the smoke taste just seemed off to me. It became more and more chemical-y and artificial tasting to me, and by the time I was halfway done I was over it. I also was pretty meh on the collard greens, but to be honest I'm not normally a huge fan of them anyway so YMMV. They were a nice texture at least. Overall, solid bbq meat and great service. They're worth a shot if you're in the area.

I ordered the sampler platter with four sides and cornbread for $35 before tax. Let me tell you, I got home and opened up the platter and then all the sides, and I knew this was about to be good. The pulled pork doesn't need any sauce; it doesn't need anything. It has flavor in every bite. Not one piece is dried out, then I ate one of them sausages....... these will be the death of me, the sausage was perfectly cooked I don't know if they make them but man that flavor with the smoke hit me like a flyball, the ribs, fell off the bone, these ribs are so good they give big known restaurants a run for their money and then the chicken, how do they get that skin so crispy and not Burnt or dried out that chicken is nostalgic. Let's get into these sides GET THE GREEN BEANS!!! Goodness, that flavor can awaken a sleeping person, so get them! Potato salad is very good. I love the freshness of the onion and how it was not oversalted. You could add more if you want, but it's very good! Baked beans--no words. The flavor is undeniably fantastic, and the savory richness with a little kick is so good. I mixed a bit of potato salad with the beans, and oh my!!! Mac and cheese will have you aching for more. The pepper was not overwhelming, just a perfect amount of spice, and the creaminess was in every bite; not one bite was plain. All the macaroni was covered in cheese as it should be. Lastly, every bite of cornbread had me grinning from ear to ear. Definitely try this spot out. This meal is enough to feed two adults and two teenagers, and no one will be disappointed or feel hungry! Check out their sitting area. I love the fans to keep the bugs away, and all the shade! This business just made a Lifetime customer! Happy and Full, now I need a nap lol

I was finally able to make a point of making a special trip over there on a Saturday late afternoon. Unfortunately it still wasn't the best timing for a first trip or making a review as we were limited to what we could order based on the fact that their hours state they close at 5 but they shut the kitchen down at 4:30 and we got there just after 4. It's hard going out for dinner to a place that closes at 4:30. I ordered a sausage sandwich which to my delight was not the monotonous Conecuh. It was really good and reminiscent of some of the whole in the wall places in Texas that does good sausage. The only draw back was that being near closing time they didn't have links but was able to do slices. It was good but hard to eat. My hubs got chicken and ribs. I liked the ribs... they still had some bite, tender but not falling apart, and the smoke is mild, not overkill like so many other places do. Hubs wasn't a huge fan of but I thought they were nice. The chicken was on the dry side, but I never go to a bbq joint to order chicken so it's not a deal breaker for me. The only major downer was that all of our sides seemed to be standard pre-made and ordered items, not made in-house. I also liked the hole in the wall vibe, the friendly staff, and the divine smoke aroma that lets you know you're in the right bbq joint. All in all I enjoyed their Q and will need to go back when I can get the timing right to sample their steam table offerings.
