Moe's Original Bar B Que is my favorite barbecue chain restaurant and whenever I am in the Mobile, Alabama area, I usually stop by one of their locations. I usually go to their downtown location or their location in Daphne, Alabama, but I never stopped by this particular location. The ambiance here is what you would expect from a Moe's Original Bar B Que. Nothing fancy, but barbecue is not supposed to be fancy. I always get the half chicken at Moe's Original Bar B Que, but they were out of the chicken, so I went with the park. For my sides, I went with the collard greens and the mac and cheese. The pork was good, though I prefer the chicken. The collards were good, but the mac and cheese was a bit weak. All in all,a good enough experience. read more

I placed a takeout order 3 days prior to when I needed the food. Moe's called and confirmed my order the day before pickup twice. When I went to pick up my order they were out of the one item I really wanted because a large catering order had been filled right before my pickup time. This location is the worst. Last time I placed a catering order I was missing items. The staff doesn't care if your order is messed up or not, they just want to get you out of the building. I will never eat here again. We brought in our family of 7 on a Sunday. Two girls stood behind the counter like deer in the headlights. I asked the girl for recommendations and she wasn't much help at all. Next I noticed the place needs a good cleaning. Soda machine had mold growing on it and lights were filthy with about half of them burnt out or missing. So, we are really worried now about what we're going to receive. What a surprise! Smoked meats were amazing! Sides were meh. Cornbread was the highlight, then the mac and cheese for me. In the past, the greens were always very tasty. On my last visit, the greens were so bad that I threw them away. The stems had not been picked, they had absolutely no seasoning whatsoever and were under cooked. Also, they had cookies at the register that were obviously stale. We had an unfortunate event. The person I was with had a salad and at the end found a roach in the bowl. No telling if he eat any or not. He told the staff politely and they gave him a t shirt, but the disturbing part is I did not see anyone run to the kitchen and tell them to toss the salad I know these things happen, but just did not see any urgency on the part of the staff after advised and shown. Based off my previous experience, what a disappointment this was. We went on a Saturday around noon and the parking lot was empty except us. That should have alerted us. When we went inside, the young man acted like we were an inconvenience to him and was very impatient. I should have figured when there was no aroma of "smoke" it was bad. The ribs lacked smoke flavor and were really tough, the baked beans were edible but the macaroni and cheese was stone cold and obviously the day before or older. I've been almost a few times but this is my first review. I've had the barbecue, hamburger, pimento cheese and pork rinds, the fish sandwich, and the shrimp sandwich. I haven't been impressed with the sides, some are from a ca. They have a few more options on the weekend. The pimento cheese and pork rinds are amazing. They will always be my one of my go-to favorites. The barbecue was good and the hamburger, just ok. Strangely enough my favorite thing is the fish sandwich and the shrimp sandwich. Crispy fish, coleslaw and a great bun. The shrimp is equally delicious. Today, I decided to add desert. One of my favorites is key lime pie. I didn't realize the date on the container for the key lime pie until I had got home. It was June 9th and today is June 16th. I called the restaurant and spoke with Alex and she told me the pie came frozen. And they slice it and put it in those containers with the date. I went in to this place while back home visiting. Food wasn't bad but I did have a problem that there was no brisket available on the menu. All BBQ spots should have brisket period, im a Texan now so that is how we gauge the quality of a BBQ joint. The ribs were tender but I did not like the mustard/vinegar base sauce that was drizzled on the meat. I prefer no sauce so I can taste the meat but if there is sauce I prefer something with a bit less bite and maybe a little sweet. The corn was good and the baked beans are as well. The cornbread slice was different but very tasty as I don't usually do it with BBQ. Overall I give it a solid three for the food and a five for the quick and friendly service. All the food is very salty, meat is dry, they use can baked beans, the cabbage for the slaw is old, the potato salad only flavor is cheap yellow mustard, the cornbread taste old and dry but is the only food that isn't overly salty. If as you say everything is done fresh daily then I suggest you stop shopping day old goods and the bargain bins. That food was not fresh nor was it made the day I ordered. Cabbage is a hearty vegetable and takes a while sitting out to turn brown. I also appreciate when I call ahead to place an order and they quote me a wait time for when it will be ready, that they are always right on the mark. I have tried all the sides and love them all! But I'd recommend somewhere else if you want hot food and consistent messaging from the servers. We ordered the sample platter and the food came relatively quick. Immediately I noticed the Mac n Cheese was barely warm and the cheese hadn't even melted on top. Then some of the meat was cold, and none of the items were hot. Just warm. Then, our first server told us we could grab sides to go later if we wanted for $1.25, and when we tried too, the next server told us it was $2.50.
