Went shopping here for my prom dress when I first started to look and let me say: best service I've ever received in a retail store. My budget wasn't a big one but they tried their absolute best to find me the best dress they possibly could. Although I did not buy from here I have to say that they made me feel 100% comfortable and every single employee (even though they were helping other girls) were pulling any dresses that they saw that would fit me and my budget. First let me say that I have never written a bad review ever. My experience today upset me so much that if I could give a zero star rating I would. I came in with my daughter who is a tween. We were looking for dresses for 3 different occassions. Two weddings and her bat mitzvah. Instead of being greeted with a friendly hello or at least a hi, we were abruptly and rudely told to sign in. After looking thru the racks while waiting we pulled some dresses. When our name was called we asked the sales girl about a bat mitzvah gown we loved. Although extremely sweet, she had no clue about their inventory. After finding the dress, we were told we could only bring 5 dresses to the fitting room. At the fitting room, I was told I could not go into the room to help my tween daughter and to wait outside. What tween A: feels comfortable having a stranger see them in their undergarments and B: who doesn't let a mother into a fitting room with her child. Ridiculous! After several dresses she found one she liked but it needed to be ordered in a another color. Not a problem to do that. The next gown we tried was the bat mitzvah gown which was stunning. With it being $600 before alterations, I went to take a picture to send to my husband (as he is the one who is paying for all these dresses) and was told I couldn't take any pictures! Again, ridiculous!! Having only been able to pull 5 dresses and shopping for 3 separate occasions, I asked the sales girl if she could help pull some..she was a deer in the headlights. So my daughter got dressed and we tried to find a few more. Once we did, we waited again for a dressing room. Our sales girl had already been given to someone else..great customer service! Finally her name was called and when we answered the owner RUDELY said..oh no, you already went, you have to wait now. ARE U SERIOUS!! I put the dresses back and walked out. To the owner, your complete and udder rudeness towards customers is unbelievable. Your rules about fitting rooms, cell phones, walking in dresses, unzipping a bag or rehanging a dress is even worse. Dress shopping is supposed to be a joyful experience. Instead I felt like a scolded child and I walked out in tears. I was definitely purchasing the $300 dress for our affair next Month and was going to purchase the $600 bat mitzvah gown but I wouldn't give your business a dime. Customer service is everything but unfortunately that doesn't seem to be the most important thing to you. I will gladly take my business up the road to your competitor. read more

I can't thank Dream dresses enough! I'm getting married in July and haven't had the best experiences with my mother of the bride dresses. My mother is disabled and not every store is so nice - I can't rave enough about the staff here! They were so nice, patient, understanding, and complimenting to my mother and took care of her like she was one of their own. She wound up loving her dress and I truly feel that their kindness gave her that positivity she needed! The dress is beautiful and their shipping for a custom size is very fast! I was really late on getting a prom dress and I get very discouraged buying dresses so I was hesitant. At first I didn't think I was going to like anything with my budget and with how late I was. I looked around, tried some on, but nothing was really wowing me and I didn't want to settle for something like I had last year. I found this store to be terrible. When looking for a mother of the bride dress we went to this store because we were told it had a large selection. Well we were greeted with a lousy attitude. We had some pictures and were told they didnt carry them in the store... which we took off their website. When we asked why they didnt have them... the answer was a snippy "because we don't". That nasty answer started us off. We were rushed through looking at the dresses and the sales woman was abrupt and rude. When we went to try the dress on.... they said get undressed we will give you the dress. Ummmm no... let me take the dress in the dressing room myself and i will put it on. When we came out and didnt like the dress she was nasty and snatched the dress as if she thought we were going to steal it. ??? REALLY?????? I totally agree with the ladies who said rude. Just beyond. I walked in, was asked immediately my budget, and was then looked over from top to bottom and scoffed at, because they would have to order my size. Then i was basically manhandled and paraded around so the manager could pass judgement on my dress. She wouldnt even let me try one on that i picked out and loved, because she felt it was ugly. The woman helping me started undoing my bra without asking, and then kept coming in my dressing room until i told her she was making me uncomfortable. This store was a nightmare. I got my prom dress here in January and in May, we began alterations. Ila was in charge of fixing my dress. When I came back to get it, there were still a few alterations that had to be made. The second time, she told us we could pick it up the day before prom in June. However, considering what we had already seen from her, we changed the appointment for a week earlier. I wasn't able to come but my mom picked up the dress so I could try it on at home. When I did, it was a disaster. After two alterations, the front was a mess and the sides were completely bumpy. After seeing this, we immediately went to the store again and postponed a vacation by three hours so that they could pin it and reassure us that the other seamstress would fix it and Ila wouldn't touch it again. However, we got a call during our vacation in which the owner told us that the other seamstress didn't accept the job. When we were obviously unsatisfied, the owner, instead of helping, yells at us that it was our fault (I don't really know why still), tells us we might as well find another seamstress (six before my prom), and then passes the phone while we're still talking to no one but Ila, who immediately began screaming over the phone because we had complained about her work. When we went to pick up the dress without further alterations from the store, we realized that the dress was not in store but at Ila's house, after they promised she wouldn't touch it again. I'm writing this review the day before my prom while I'm trying to fix the shabby and kindergarten style work that Ila did and for which we paid $75 in cash. rude, rude, rude... never shop here. horrible customer service. the lady on the phone had the worst manners when i was asking a few questions regarding a few specific dresses that i was interested in. i even had the numbers for her to look up and she refused. i am only interested in these specific dresses and not anything else. if you cant be polite and use manners over the phone how are you suppose to behave when i go into the store. horrible behavior. read more

My mom, sister, and her friends came here looking for prom dresses. If you're thinking they found them you're wrong. They instead found a rude salesperson who informed my mother that "each girl needed a parent in order to try on dresses". My mother told the salesperson that the girls were with her to which she replied "that's the rules, they need a parent, other stores are like that too". I agree with all the negative reviews I have seen for this store. They are rude, mean, discourteous and unhelpful. I bought an $800 dress a few years ago off the rack so it did not need to be ordered. It was a very easy transaction so their rudeness was tolerable. i didn't get to deal with them as much as the second time I came here for my next child's wedding. Now I am getting their full blown nasty treatment. I am a return customer who had sent at least 5 customers, probably more, to them mostly because of their close location and the designers they carry. The owner, Angie is the rudest one of all, with one sales person, Debbie who is particularly nasty. It is a shame that there is a local store with a good choice of designers that you can't shop in unless you can tolerate being treated with contempt. read more

Horrible! Don't waste your time!!! Dresses were ok but the women and the desk were so rude and pushy. One was literally eating lunch and was sitting down in no rush to help us. The first thing we were asked was out budget. In no effort to help us, she sent over two girls (who looked like working there was their first job). The girls knew nothing about dresses and just kept handing random dresses that THEY liked to my sister. They seemed offended and rolled their eyes when my sister told them of the dresses she didn't like. Finally, after choosing three dresses to try on, the women followed us into the dressing room to tell us that it was their policy to help my sister try the dress on... (making my sister feel odd with two strangers) they wouldn't even let her zip it up by herself. After trying nothing on, we all left in disgust. read more

I ordered a dress for my daughter in august and after waiting 4 months and told repeatedly "don't worry" ,in a demeaning voice, i had to speak with the owner who "did me a favor" and rushed my daughter's dress so that we would have it in time for her event. The Lady was eating a sandwich at the front desk and the first question out of her was what our budget was I was looking for a dress for a prom when she decided to pick out out some dresses she thought I would like which weren't even that attractive and whenever I said I didn't like what they were picking out they would roll there eyes like I was being an inconvenience to them..they said I wasn't allowed to try on the dress by myself and phones weren't allowed in the dressing room and that it was there policy i was not comfortable with that and when I told them all they said was sorry in a rude voice... Just found the perfect sweet 16 dress (ball gown style) at this dress shop in Old Bridge. Debbie greeted us with a huge smile, asked our names and introduced herself. She spoke to my daughter and was really interested in her likes, dislikes, style preferences etc. At the same time, Debbie offered her suggestions for my daughter after seeing her body type, figure etc. The result? The perfect dress! I will definitely go back there for prom. They have a huge selection but it's not overwhelming. They make you feel like they really want you to get the best dress in your budget and they are not pushy sales people. LOVED IT! read more

Today my daughter and I set out to find her perfect Sweet Sixteen dress. Although this should be an exciting time, I was somewhat hesitant because of past experiences of dress shopping. We had gone to several places in the Freehold/Manalapan area only to feel like they were doing us a favor selling us a dress. They showed my daughter dresses opposite of what she was asking for, only interested in making the sale. But, today the experience exceeded any expectations I could have imagined!! Angie and Debbie at Dream Dresses in Old Bridge could not have been more friendly and attentive. They showed my daughter dresses in the styles and colors she was asking for. They offered to check with the manufacturer if a certain dress, in the color she wanted, could be ordered. Unlike, the other stores, who specifically told me that that was not an option. If you want a wonderful experience, visit Dream Dresses! They will not disappoint! My daughter walked out of the store glowing because she found the dress of her dreams! Thank you Angie and Debbie! My daughter and I had the perfect experience here shopping for her senior prom dress. She was rather unsure of what she wanted, but the kind staff at Dream Dresses worked patiently with her. They were truly invested in her happiness and pulled multiple gowns until they found her dream dress. They meticulously sized her and when her gown arrived, it fit perfectly; no alterations were needed. The gown itself, by the way, came in within a week after it was ordered. If I could put negative stars, I would. The most rude woman I have ever met as one of their consultants. Instead of trying to get some business, even after the owner told her to let us try on dresses without a parent present, she proceeded to call us rude for pointing out, despite what she thinks, not all dress shops on route 9 require an adult present to try on dresses. If you are looking for a dress shop on route 9, I suggest to go to Castle Couture to avoid being disrespected as a customer. read more

0 STARS! HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. Walked in without being greeted by anyone in the store. Walked passed multiple employees. Owner at front desk helped the girl in front of me, without even saying I will be right with you (which is fine) until i saw the way they treated her. Was helping her until she told her the budget for the dress, then she was on her own. I called before going in to make sure they had my dress (ten minutes earlier) and the same woman I spoke with on the phone said "I do not even know if we have that let me look" ?!?!? I mean! Then, when she finally found it I asked if It id did not fit, could she help tell me what size to get. She asked if I was buying it there and I barely even got to say I do not know yet (because I did not know if I wanted to buy it that day or another) and she said "well, try it on and then get out". SO RUDE!!!!!!!!!!! When I did decide to buy it there, of course, her whole demeanor changed (even though the dress was 25 more expensive in the store than online, and STILL 10$ more expensive in the store than if you ordered ONLINE from her OWN WEBSITE.) She is a terribly, rude, self serving, angry, miserable individual who does not deserve anyones business. They way she spoke with people infuriated me. Waiting for the dressing room was the most fun because all of the women in line were bitching about her. I have no idea why we did not just walk out. I'm only rating this establishment 1 star because 0 stars was not an option. Rude is an understatement. I took my daughter and her friend here for a prom dress. First the manager blew off my daughter's friend, questioning whether she was allowed to make a decision without her mother. My daughter proceeded to try on dresses and decided on a dress that turned out to be discontinued. The store sample was her size but had missing beads and trim. We were told we could work out a deal. The manager offered to discount the $720 dress to $575 but I would have to pay to have the beading fixed. When I asked for a total price with the repairs, I was told I had to talk to the seamstress myself. So, ok. - she wasn't dealing on the dress. I went there yesterday for a mother of the groom dress. I found one dress that was their last one since it was discontinued, but over all their selection was horrible and Linda the sales person was rude and condescending. I went back today to bring my friend to see the one dress that liked and when I walked into the store the two ladies whispering to each other that I was back.....really and you want me to give you my money! How old are you! The dress that I liked had a broken zipper and it would be an off the rack purchase. They would only give me 30% percent off this discontinued dress. It would cost me more to have it repaired and cleaned. When I told her I saw it at her competitor for less and that was a brand new dress, she said "OK, I guess it's not in your budget then". Yes, $330.00 for a damaged and used dress is not in my budget. How does she know what's in my wallet? Just because I didn't pull up in a Mercedes with diamonds on my fingers. The nerve of her! This is my first ever written review on yelp. I feel so strongly towards this store, that I didn't even give a second thought about writing a review. I'd like to just go back a few years, in 2013 when I ordered my prom dress from this store. I fell in love with a dress, ordered it, and a few weeks later, went in to pick up the dress. The dress was ordered 4 sizes LARGER than what I had purchased. The rude woman said there was a "no return policy" and insisted on charging me HUNDREDS of dollars to get the dress altered, but also told me that the dress was going to look "nothing like the original because of the drastic alterations." After my mother and I fought with the store for hours, the dress was returned. Needless to say, I did not. So, despite this horrible experience, I took my sister prom dress shopping recently, and decided to give Dream Dresses another chance, only because it was conveniently close to our home. Upon walking into the store, I was given a nasty look by multiple employees, and was not greeted. When I finally asked if we should wait, or look around ourselves, I was told to wait for someone. Once we are finally seen, the first question was, "do you have a parent or guardian present?" I answered no, I was the decision maker of my sister's dress, and the one that would be purchasing it due to my parent's inconvenient work hours. With the nastiest attitude, I was told that my sister was unable to try on or purchase anything without a legal guardian present. Once I explained that that was impossible, she told me I should "look around, and if she sees something she HAS to try on, then they might be able to get her into it." Once I told her I wasn't going to waste my time, she told me that there was no use going anywhere else, because they all have the same policies. I was furious with her tone, and her utter disregard for anything I was saying. Sorry for the rant, but I would NOT recommend this store to ANYONE!! We left and went to Castle Couture on Route 9 South, and we had an AMAZING experience. My sister was treated like a queen and she had so much fun finding her dress. They were respectful of our price limit, and she fell in love with her prom dress. It looks intimidating from the outside, but the prices range from the low low hundreds and up. Very affordable! We went to Dream Dresses today for my daughter's senior prom dress in which should be a fun and happy memorable event. The owner was very rude! My daughter found a dress she loved after trying on many before she found her DREAM DRESS. The dress was not her size so we asked if she could order in in a size up. She rudely answered that she wasn't sure but she would check. How do you not know if it can be ordered or not you are the owner. She kept stalling us until I asked again and rudely answered no she can't order that dress and said it was a last year dress. My daughter happened to love another dress that someone was trying on and knew the girl wasn't buying that size dress and had to order another one. We asked the sales girl who was helping my daughter is she could try it on when they were done with it. She said sure no problem. Two minutes later she came back and told the my daughter she couldn't try on the dress and that her boss was giving her a hard time. Needless to say we walked out knowing the game the owner was playing. She wanted to sell on the rack dresses. Her rudeness was enough and she didn't deserve our business. We went and goggled the dress my daughter first loved and found out it was a 2014 dress so she is a liar on top of being rude. We went down the street to Diane and Co. and found a fabulous dress or you might say her DREAM DRESS. It's a problem when your daughter leaves in tears especially knowing this isn't her first time buying a prom dress as she has been to many proms, formals and homecomings. There for I advise you to follow your gut in stint when you enter the store when the owner approaches you with a nasty rude attitude. Don't waste your time trying on dresses. She doesn't deserve your business and doesn't care a bit about making your princess happy. read more

Had a really terrible experience here from the moment we walked in. Went with my cousin to look for a prom dress and the woman immediately approached us to let us know we could not shop there without a parent and to come back another time. When we informed her that my cousin is the one purchasing the dress (and I was the adult "supervising" her) she called the owner over and the owner got nasty with us but said we could stay after we told her we've never had this issue at any other store. The saleswoman called us rude for pointing out that other stores let us stay so needless to say we decided to bring our business elsewhere. My family has purchased from them in the past but now we will never give them business again. They need to realize that at least 50% of their business is going to come from teenagers looking for prom, homecoming, and sweet sixteen dresses and she needs to treat those customers with the same respect that she would treat an adult. Will never go back and will be recommending to family and friends that they avoid that store. read more

After going to 9 or 10 lovely bridal shops with wonderful service I cannot believe I ordered the gown for my sons wedding from Dream Dresses. I have to believe I was exhausted and tired of looking. The awful dressing rooms, terrible lighting and freezing temperature in the shop (I was trying gowns on with my Uggs since I couldn't stand the cold) were only exceeded by the rudeness of the staff! I also wound up paying $55 more than the same dress would have cost me in Castle Couture. I was pressured to get my dress ordered because it could take 5 mos..well, it arrived in a week. Then I was pressured to get in quickly to pick it up "they don't have the room to store everyone's gown"....which is understandable but it could have been said without an attitude. I will never recommend this shop and will go out of my way to steer people away from them. There are so many wonderful and accommodating stores...stay away! read more

I guess it all depends on what salesperson you get helping you. I was lucky to have someone (I wish I remembered her name) who was extremely helpful. She was very nice, told me what dresses to look at and which ones she thought were to matronly for me. I was the mother of the groom. She kept trying to get me to try on a dress I thought I would not like but as soon as I put in on I looked at my friend who was with me and said "this is it"! Even in the fitting room - she helped me with all the dresses, taking them off the hangers and having them ready for me to try on. She was very patient. I decided to have the seamstress at Dream Dresses do the alterations knowing she was experienced at altering this dress over and over again and I was right. She did a perfect job! I was very happy all around with Dream Dresses. All I could say to them is invest in a little redecorating, especially the fitting rooms. read more

I am very disappointed in Dream Dresses and their poor customer service. It is their job to make a girl feel special - not invisible or unimportant. I will say that some girls were treated very nicely but we got stuck with someone who didn't listen and just rushed us. My daughter didn't even get to take a picture after saying we wanted the dress - so she had nothing to post to her school's website. When looking at the dress in the catalogue, we noticed some differences. When questioned, the owner snipped, "It either looks like that or it doesn't. Does she want the dress or not?" Seriously!!! Today we picked it up and the woman taking care of us totally forgot about my daughter and went to help someone else. (no apology by the way when she did remember) When I asked about the beads that were literally hanging off her dress I was told that they come that way so you can move around in the dress and then by another woman that this is the way all dresses come. Yea- not the answers I want to hear. Suggestions: treat people with respect, listen and respond with concern not a condescending attitude and a little hint... proof read your website- "No an appointment required" WHAT? And why would you have important info. on the "contact us" page? My thanks to the one salesgirl who actually engaged my daughter in a conversation and apologized for the fact that her saleswoman just left her standing outside the dressing room to attend to other people.
