Review 250!! I came here on a Tuesday evening, after work with some colleagues. The place was so packed -- it was hard to move. Like, harder than in a club. I liked the scene. It was a young-ish after work crowd, so probably a good place to meet people. Of course a place called Draught 55 has a large beer selection, and the menu lets you see the ABV and price of each beer. The staff seemed pretty nice and people were having a good time. However, I couldn't move or really hear the people in my group, and that wasn't fun for me. So three stars -- just "ok." Will probably come back just because other people at work like the place, and if I have a dramatically different experience, I'll update! read more

This is a really good hidden gem in the neighborhood I definitely recommend it. Some days it can be loud but if you don't care about loudness then you will be fine, but some days it can be quiet and nice. The food is typically pub food but it's one of the best. The Nachos are really good with the soft pretzel, the soft pretzel has a good sweet and salty flavor to it. Save room for dessert! All the desserts I would recommend. Love this place. I stop here whenever I'm staying in Midtown, and sometimes when I'm not. It's worth the trip! I happened on this place on a ride in from Teterboro, and made note of it as I was driving by because of its great look...definitely a book you can judge by its cover! HUGE craft beer selection and a pretty good menu. Come here if you're looking for a chill night out or a quick beer and grub in the middle of the day. Also a good spot for a large party if you book something. They've always got a good game on the television above the bar (however I do wish they'd stick a tv in the main dining area). Their Facebook page is usually updated with new stuff on tap - I wish they would get some more sour beers!!! The Bruery - Tart of Darkness, to be specific. Had drinks and dinner at Draught 55 with a friend and was super impressed with the food. We were there for happy hour (awesome specials with great beers to choose from) and stayed for dinner. We started with the mussels which were so meaty and the sauce was delicious just wish we had more toast points to dip in it. I had the roasted chicken which was amazing!!! My friend had the cured meat hero which she said was very tasty. Overall great time and will definitely be back! read more

Went to this place last night for dinner and had a great experience. It's only a couple blocks from my apartment so I'll be returning. Unfortunately I arrived just after happy hour and missed out on the deals. Like most places in NYC, it had a tiny entrance that you'll miss if you aren't looking. You walk into a warm and inviting room with the long and well appointed bar. Lots of draught handles with a well diversified beer offering. Additionally a large number of specialty bottles. After being sat, our server was quick to the table and gave me some tips as I had to choose from the three very tempting soups. I started with a beer flight after I did the math and got a lot more for the money that way. I shot from the hip, but ended up with four great selections. Kate went to a suprisingly good list of wines by the glass. She always does this when we go to a beer spot. For dinner we had the Shrimp Chowder, Brussel Sprouts, and Arugala Salad. Chowder: So hot I had to wait 5 minutes to eat it, but it was worth the wait. Heavy with potatoes in a thick red broth, the taste of shrimp wasn't strong but the larges shrimp made up for it. Order it. Brussel Sprouts: Awesome! Perfectly cooked, lots of bacon, sweet onions. HUGE portion. Best $6 you can spend on the menu. Order it. Salad: A bit of a disappointment. Large portion of salad, but that's about it. A few pieces of crispy cheese, and very little red peppers. For $6 we added a couple little pieces of chicken. Pass on it. Overall a great experience. It pains me to review this place so poorly. I have made two visits here and thought about averaging out each experience to give this place a three star rating, but after my most recent visit, I just couldn't bring myself to be that positive about Draught 55. Let's start with the good... My first visit would rank a 4. I came for a happy hour birthday after the first major snow storm of '14 when temperatures plummeted below zero and long John underwear became a part of my daily wardrobe. The atmosphere was terrific for a group of late 20s to 30s professionals. Not fratty at all, excellent for groups. We were in the back (the atrium?) which is set up like a sun room with a fireplace, its own bar and tables, even a TV if there's a game on. I could even hang out here with my parents. Great beer list. I would estimate 20 taps plus a full page list of bottles. There are familiar staples if you find the craft beer scene intimidating. Another bonus, they are active on the App "Untapped." I stayed for a drink or two and went home vowing to return after a positive first impression. Fast forward - St. Patty's Sunday Brunch. Irish beers, whiskeys and Irish Breakfast and Corned Beef and Cabbage specials! Perfect so I thought. So as a party of 6, we came in the early afternoon. It was quiet. One other large party finishing up. Half our party showed up, and we were starving from running the NYC Half. Our waitress said she could bring out the complimentary Irish Scones early while we waited. Terrific! Our party fully arrived, and the waitress came back apologizing because only two scones were left. Okay, kind of a bummer as 6 hungry patrons stared at two small scones. Apparently the large party before us (about 10 people) ate them all. Okay, kind of weird, but fine. Onto the beer menu! I bragged to my friends about their selection only to let them down. For Irish beers, they only had Guinness, Harp & Smithwicks, which is perfect for St. Patty's but being a craft beer bar, I thought they would get some interesting other Irish picks in or some other Irish style choices. How about the American Cream Stout? Sorry - out of that. Okay, how bout the Irish Red? Nope, out of that too. New direction - how about the Peekskill Sour? OUT OF THAT TOO! I settled for a well-poured Guinness. Delicious so not the end of the world. Others in our party ordered some fantastic Bloody Mary's and very well done Irish coffees. So small bummer on the beer selection, but on we go. The food - the menu looked mouth watering. We all ordered Irish Breakfast, and I added French Onion Soup. The food was just sad... The plates had paltry portions. We each had the most pathetic sliver or what I think was Irish soda bread. It was a triangle smaller than a deck of cards and thinner than a pencil's circumference, I picked it up, and it broke apart under its own weight. The over medium eggs were laughable. I wish I took a picture. It was like someone took the spatula and cut my egg yoke out of the whites in a little square. The blood puddings were severely overcooked and dry. The portion was about a 1/4 inch slice off a sausage link. A basket of croissant sent to our table included 1 corn bread muffin and two croissant. We had 6 people at the table. We asked for a second basket. The pastries were obviously frozen because they were still icy cold in the center. Should have put them in the microwave another 30 secs. My soup was forgotten. I got it after the meal. I'm glad I did because it was really freaking good. Silver lining! I ate everything but was disappointed as I expected better. After all of this - service was very slow. If the bar had been busy, I would have understood, but the whole place was nearly empty. Two other tables of 3-4 plus bar patrons and one small group watching NCAA in the back room. No one was rude, it's a very cute establishment, and the acoustic singer was very good and entertaining (an array of pop songs, Marley, and kept it at a noise level where you could still talk to your table and sing along). My Williamsburg hipster friends kind of made fun of him, but I liked it. He was upbeat with a nice voice. This experience was truly disappointing. I would probably come back for a drink if in the area - but I wouldn't seek it out nor would I return for food. Choose this place for Happy Hour and low key group beer nights. read more

So I came here the other day to hangout with a friend. The Space is nice and casual, there's a back area that seemed out once been open As an outdoors area but has since been enclosed. Ordered the nachos which were good and lots of toppings and also the pork belly. IT Was nice and tender with a lot of some kind of asian sauce (slightly sweet) that went well with it. The two items went well with one another. They had a large selection on beer. Had their happy hour beers, one red ale and one golden blonde. Both were ok. Co-Best selection of beer in Manhattan out of all the places I went to. Big list and quite varied. (Other co-best selection goes to Stag's Head) Also, a very solid burger and the rest of the menu looked good as well. It was pretty crowded when we were there - Saturday night around 9pm - but not intolerably crowded. Definitely recommended if you love a good beer. If I had one place to go to for a beer in New York, it would be Torst, but if I couldn't get to Brooklyn I'd probably go here. read more

I live a block away and was pleasantly surprised when I walked into Draught 55 one afternoon. The atmosphere is super cozy and cute. There is a section in the back with a skylight roof which is nice during the day and nights. The bartenders are all very friendly and are happy to suggest a beer if you're having trouble making a decision from their extensive beer list. The selection of beer is awesome! I have eaten here a few times, and nothing has ever been bad. We got the fish and chips, bleu cheese burger, some kind of cured meat sandwich, sesame wings, and brussell sprouts. The brussell sprouts were incredible and I thoroughly enjoyed everything that we have ever eaten there. The burger was particularly delicious. You can't beat this place! Longtime Yelper, first time reviewer! Here it goes... This is my go-to spot when I want to enjoy a good beer due to its proximity to my girlfriend's place. Solid draft selection and an extensive bottle list draw in regular crowds of beerheads, particularly in the evening hours. Given the limited bar seating, it can get quite crowded, but friendly, attentive staff ensure your glass of frothy goodness is served quickly and efficiently. If you're indecisive, you can customize a beer flight. If you're really fond of a particular beer, you can take home a growler of select drafts. The pub fare is pretty good as well. I've tried their cured meat hero on lard bread (tasty if a bit salty), and their beef stew (hearty and flavorful). This place is definitely worth a visit if you're in the area! read more

Weekly rotation of over 60 taps. Knowledgeable bartenders. A friendly crowd that is NOT bridge&tunnel, backwards-cap power drinkers like you find at other midtown east faux-clubs. Instead, patrons are more likely to be soccer-knowledgable, own a wristwatch that weighs less than three lbs., and speak in complete sentences. "I didn't like the tempeh fritter kabob and the Merlot was bland" is a moronic review. Order a beer you've never heard of and learn something, you fey loser. read more

I literally was on my way to PJ Clarke's when I spotted this place (on one of the first reopening days of dine-in) and decided to give it a try. I'm glad I did. Nobody likes the coronavirus protocol, but they knew what to do and got it done and over with quickly. The bar was closed but I wanted dinner anyway. I had the barbeque meatloaf and paired it with a kind of stout (I think) called pumpkin spice latte. I thought it would be awful but I was curious... and it turned out to be great. It was a lightly flavored beer, smooth and not too sweet, not at all a candy bar or Dunkin... and complemented the food. The only bug was that multiple people waited on me, and I would have preferred the same person serve the food. This is a gem of a restaurant in midtown. The ambiance of the place is cozy and comfortable, at night the backroom is awesome with an all glass roof covered in Christmas lights, comfy chairs and a fireplace. A great place to hang out and have a pint after a long day of work. The beer list is huge, and always changing. Sometimes i'm saddened when one of the good ones goes to quick. I've tried a good portion of the menu, all of it very flavorful and interesting. I'm only knocking a star of because of two dishes that were just a little weird. The pastrami sandwhich with mash potatoes on it was a little funky, and the pork belly dish was over sweet. Some of my favorites are the Fish'n'Chips and the Club Sandwich. The staff is all super friendly and always smiling. If you stop in on brunch they usually have a live band going in the corner. This place use to suck under old management, then a few years ago it got renamed and remodeled and now it's one of my favorites for happy hour or late night drinks, and even for a quick dinner. Staff is great and I would say that food is gastro pub quality. Very surprising how delicious it is!!! Even simple things like mozzarella sticks are hand made at the restaurant. Easily the best lunch special in the area, $10 for a choice from a selection of draft beers, and a rotating lunch menu of 5 items that changes daily. The fries, and in general all the fried food here is pretty great, along with the pasta, and burgers. If you're going off the lunch menu it get's pretty freaking pricey, and during the lunch rush the quality of the cooking can go down a bit on the more expensive items, if I am being honest. That being said, there is a huuuuge selections of draft beers, a great range of good whiskeys and if you're in the area for lunch you're not likely to find a better deal for food, beverages and a friendly staff to boot. read more

Been to the bar a few times now. I really like the ambiance of the back room. It has an outdoor patio feel. Happy hour had some good drink specials and the beer is always cold. Love Draught 55! We met the owner and his wife and they are super nice. Happy hour is from 4-8pm Monday through Friday and about 5 beers are $5 plus house wine. Saturday's is crafty hour from 8-9pm and all beers are $5. They're beer selection is large and they always have a cider or two. Also, lunch is the bomb. $10 from 11am-4pm Monday through Friday. The entrees change daily and it comes with a beer from the happy hour menu. Lastly, their fries are the best. Highly recommend! read more
