Great music, Dan until next time! Great watermelon drug store and dirty martinis. I saw a few dinosaur's and I love it!

My after work happy hour stop or my neighborhood bar. Great drinks, no bs. The drinks are so good here and the prices are great, especially for how good the cocktails are. Great little bar along the street and occasionally has some outside tables too. The bartenders are super nice here too. read more

I like this place- sometimes it's loud, sometimes it's quiet, sometimes it's open-air, sometimes it's stuffy ... I like the BYO food policy, since usually I'm tired after running around collecting food, so perfect! (I wish the benches were the right height for the tables, though-they are SO uncomfortable, so I ended up having to sit weird.) read more

SBR is a great local bar serving up some tasty cocktails and solid beer. Stop in for one of their many HH deals. Great service and all around good vibes. The espresso martini here is fire! Definitely check this place out if you are in the neighborhood. read more

Small local spot with nice bartenders and an unpretentious vibe. They have great happy hour deals with extended hours on weekdays ($3 off cocktails, $5/6 drafts + wine). Also, my go to trivia spot on Mondays - shoutout to Sara from NYC Trivia. Get there a little early to snag a table and you can BYOF (TJs is closeby for SNacks). The best. read more

If I could give 6 stars I would. I don't want to say how much I like this place because I don't want it to become too crowded. It's a great little local neighborhood bar with amazing bartenders and great cocktails. It's small so don't be upset if you don't get a seat. No food, just great drinks. read more

nice bar with great ambience and options for both indoor and outdoor seating. i came here once during and once after happy hour and either way, prices were pretty standard / affordable. i definitely recommend the espresso martini and aperol spritz cocktails. the espresso martini was bold and strong and tasted great, and the aperol spritz was light and incredibly refreshing. i also tried their cucumber gin which was refreshing too but i didn't like it as much, and a red wine happy hour special. read more

We had an hour to kill before our dinner reservation, so we ducked in here. It has a cozy, nostalgic vibe and the bartender was friendly and welcoming. They have nice happy hour specials, and it seems frequented by locals which is always a good sign. It would be a good place to stop for a drink before you took the tram over the Roosevelt island, which is also what we did. read more

I was here last evening and I have to say - amazing value for the good cocktails. We had the watermelon one and the mezcal smokiness shined through. Simple but did a great job. The old fashioned was something else - again great. Excellent value given the current prices and no scrimping on the liquor. read more

My go to HH spot in UES after work! Great cocktail happy hour options that are $3 off per drink (comes out to $10 per drink) and $5-6 for wine, beers & well drinks on HH. I like that their HH is until 8 every day of the week and 9p on Wednesdays because most spots end their HH early. They don't have food but you could always bring your own food or buy nearby! The bartenders are always friendly and it's a great vibe with music but you can still talk and not feel like you're too crowded in a bar so it's a good spot to go for HH with coworkers or friends. I will continue to keep going back :) read more

Came here with a party of four in a Saturday and we sat ourselves at one of the open tables. This place was decently packed and to order, you just go up to the bar and bring the drinks back to the table. There were only 1-2 bartenders but the service was extremely quick and the drinks were well priced and good. This place was the right in between in not being too "divey" but also not being too uppity that you can just come here and chill. read more

Came here with some friends on a Monday night for happy hour (4-7pm) and just so happened to see that they had Trivia night starting from 7 so we stayed for that. The drinks were all really good. Personally I really liked the Cucumber Basil Gimlet and Aperol Spritz. Trivia was also really fun. I definitely want to come back here again for a fun night out with friends. read more

I hosted a birthday party here and it was an excellent experience! Booking was very easy and nick was super responsive. Elite spot for grabbing casuals w the fellas. Randomly bumping sometimes, strange regulars for people watching, great cocktails.

A hole in the wall spot known only to locals. They have amazing happy hours on Tuesday- with half off on wines by the bottle. Trivia's on Monday. Definitely a great spot to meet new people and increase your social circle. read more

Came here on a Sunday eve and absolutely enjoyed it. The thing I liked the most more than the drinks or anything else was the great vibe and ambiance, an authentic experience (I was there with my friends, but I could tell it's a perfect spot if you want to bring a date). We also played some Jenga and Uno which was nice. I tried the old fashioned and Moscow mule, both them good. They don't have food, so keep that in mind. Will I come back? I went to this bar since it's close to the drag show. I ordered one drink which was an espresso martini. This place is not that bad, but it gets packed late at night. A neighborhood bar in an area that doesn't especially feel like a neighborhood, Sutton Bar Room is a bonafide haven. We were in the neighborhood getting dinner at Teppen Ramen (seems like the best ramen is to be had up around here) and I figured we'd have to head downtown for anything remotely resembling a place without a serious scene (and the high prices that usually go along with it). Sutton Bar Room kept popping up on Yelp searches. We usually give places that are new to us the one drink rule... But then we stayed for three! It's a modest, cozy vibe, with a really nice bartender and chill crowd. We sat at the bar for a round and then moved to the tables up front. The only reason we left was because we wanted to bar hop, but I could have easily settled in for the rest of the night here. Prices are shockingly fair and there's a decent bubbly by the glass. Being that ramen is always on my brain when it's cold outside, I expect to have Sutton Bar Room on regular rotation. read more

Solid spot that was a lot of fun. I spend a lot of time in the area so i'll be back. Fun music and drink selection.

The short: amazingly cozy, clean local bar with great staff, great booze and great deals. The longer: most recently I came with two friends from out of town for Monday happy hour. I enjoyed a $5 glass of Malbec, headed to the gym (lol) and came back... they were hanging out at the bar, drinking yummy hot spiked cider and playing trivia. It was a fabulous way to spend a Monday after work. My friends and I love it here... it's easily our favorite local spot. Highly recommend it if you're looking for a cool vibe, good deal, warm environment and chill people. read more

Forgot to snap a photo of my cocktail. Had the cigar old fashioned (it was named "cigar* old fashioned, I've forgotten the exact name). Anyways, I usually can't pinpoint the flavors in a drink but the vanilla, pecan bitters, and cigar all came through. It was truly one of the best old fashioned drinks I've ever had. The flavors changed as I was sipping my way through it. $10 during happy hour, which is 4-8pm, I believe. I'll be back. Nick is a great barman. Cheers read more

nice atmosphere - busy but not too crowded. Nice glassware and Negronis were superb!

In the area & we happen to come check this place out for drinks .. fairly quite inside for a Friday afternoon after work. We sat by the bar, they offer some happy hour specials & $3 dollars off their signature cocktails such as the Frose .. summer days call for frozen drinks always , we gave the frose a try. Very good Frose , nice taste & a decent amount of alcohol after having a few I actually had a nice buzz. Small location, pet friendly .. simple but nice decor, Service was quick enough , decent prices not a bad place to start your night off with some drinks. read more

Came back to SBR, as I knew I would. Aoibhinn was behind the bar as luck would have it. As far as equal rights are concerned, I felt the bar to be a very equal parts white, black, Latino - a real coming together of cultures, not unrepresentative of NYC as a whole but still nice to see. Okay, I digress, I also felt that there was a very representative coming together of straights and LGBTQ+ humans which is really just so nice to see on the east side. I feel like this is really a bar where a**holes are unwelcome. I will continue to be a patron of this establishment. Aoibhinn's playlists slap. Wondering where she purchased her spectacles. Additionally: clean restrooms. read more

Bartender was rude and ignored us sitting on the side of the bar. Was rude when I asked him if he can make a fresh cocktail saying just "no, they're pre-made". They're not cheap mind you. Then saw him eat a bag of chips right behind the bar, lick his fingertips, and go right back to serving. Check please! Will not be going back. So many great bars in the area. read more

The bartenders here sure know how to handle a crowd. These guys are HUSTLERS. Despite the sudden rush from a previous event, I got my drink quickly and not a single mistake on my open tab. This is my favorite bar in New York. It has the perfect combination of being cozy but also having a cocktail bar feel. I come here for any occasion and always love the service and the environment. They have games, good music, fair pricing and they don't serve food so they let you bring any food you want in. 10/10 recommend. read more

Small familiar place with Irish inspiration decoration. Just drinks, no food at all (but if you ask, they'll allow you to bring food in or have it delivered there). Prices are average, some cocktails are available. Check on their happy hour, as any other place. There are some activities (live music Sunday evenings), etc. that change from time to time. read more

I came here for trivia night (Monday nights, starts at 7 PM) with a group of my friends. Honestly, the trivia was HARD but it was still a fun experience. There is happy hour during trivia, but it include just beers and wines and I think some mixed drinks. I think they're all in the $4-5 range during HH. Ciders are not included FYI. There is NO food at all, which I think is a huge negative ... however, we ordered pizza and they did not mind us having our food. I saw some people bring in large bags of snacks so I think they were regular trivia goers that understood the deal. This place is pretty tiny and can fit maybe 15 people at most. I don't think it's necessarily the best spot cause there is no food and the trivia was really difficult (but I heard this is an external group that does trivia at bars around NYC - either way, they asked really obscure questions) but it's fine if you're looking for a quick drink and you're in the neighborhood. read more

Sweet little neighbourhood spot for sure. Came in on a Sunday afternoon with a group of friends. I selected the spot for a chill couple of cocktails and it's exactly what we got. We had the bar pretty much to ourselves for 3-4 hours. One or two regulars stopped in at the bar and everyone kept to themselves. The bartender was just the right amount of attentive and the drinks were slightly above average. I can dig a casual joint that can make a neat cocktail. I wouldn't go out of my way, but if I'm in the area and need a quiet Sunday bar, Sutton hit the spot real nice. Nothing too stand out about it, but sometimes that's exactly what you need. read more

Nice addition to the neighborhood. Upon entering, it seems a little divey... are those individual potato chip bags for sale? Yes, they are because there's no food here. Honestly, I respect a bar that doesn't offer food as opposed to a bar that offers crappy food that is suspect. So thank you, Sutton Bar room. Drinks are very reasonably priced. You can get a cocktail for $13 or so. I had the jalapeño margarita and it was quite good. Actually I was able to have three of them without remorse because the drinks were reasonably priced.... You don't see that often on the UES! The bathroom here is clean, which I always think is a good sign of good management. read more

Good bar. Good beers. Good staff. Bad Music playlist. I have no idea what schizophrenic picked this stuff but it is the ultimate in identity crisis. You can go from "Me and Julio down by the Schoolyard" to Azalea Banks (and that's not a good thing). It actually says a lot about the place and the neighborhood. Like "hey man, it's Sutton Place and average age is 65, but we want some younger clients too!" Idk? Hope they sort this out. If they did it would be hands down the best bar in a 5blk radius. Pick what your are. And be that. Good luck. read more
