I had a great experience here for lunch today! The price is right considering it includes sashimi for lunch on a weekend! Most AYCE lunch spots are almost 20.00 with no sash so we were pretty excited about that! Overall the food tasted as u would expect and the resto itself is clean. Would definitely come back here again! The only thing that keeps me from giving it 5 stars is the service. They actually threatened to call the police if we wanted to pursue this matter further and refuse to pay the full amount. Absolutely pathetic. It's very clear that they invested a lot of money and time in aesthetics here (modern décor, decorative plates, elaborate food plating)- but their showiness of an all-you-can-eat iPad menu cannot make up for their clear failures. I will not be going back. Throughout our meal, the staff was entirely engrossed in their own conversation up at the front desk. There we extended periods of time where we were just waiting for simple things because they were laughing and chatting amongst themselves for long periods of time. There was a delay between my entrée and my friend's by almost 20 minutes in the already slow service, making my food grow cold so as not to eat without her. The food was simply -eh-. It's something I would expect out of a fast-food place. Nearly every thing was bland, even their miso soup. How?! There are FAR better places in Durham to go, at a better price, too. Food is just ok. Price is ok. Service, nope. Décor is very good for Pickering. The waitress thought I was psychotic when I asked for regular (red top) soy sauce which they do not offer on the tables. She didn't know what I was talking about, then said she would get me some, and returned with low sodium soy sauce and told me it was regular soy sauce. It wasn't. I got take out from here yesterday because my favourite Thai place is closed on Sundays. I had a really bad craving for pad thai so I decided to check this place out. It was rather disappointing. I ordered the vegetable pad thai with no egg & no tofu but asked for extra veggies in the dish, I also ordered a mango salad. The lady I placed my order with said that there would be no problem with that. I went to pick up my food & it was a little late but just by under 5 minutes so not a big deal. The restaurant it's self looks very pretty inside. I got my food home & dove in only to find next to no vegetable. Just a lot of noodles in sauce. Thank god I asked for extra peanuts to add to the dish! The noodles & sauce was nothing special at all. It was edible but that's about it. The mango salad I ordered was the same. Nothing special & the order was so so so small. Overall I will not be back. Maybe the other food is better but as for me I'm sticking my favourite place down the road. read more

Today was not a good day in Dragon Rolls. First, the air conditioning wasn't working properly so it was quite hot and sticky inside. They were packed and I think it was mostly because they were very understaffed due to the holiday so order took forever to get food out to the tables. Only 3 very harried looking servers were trying to deliver to the entire restaurant! We arrived at 6:30 and made our first order at 6:35. We never got one of the items from that group and another came short (8 shrimp instead of 12) after 90 minutes waiting and finally complaining about it! We were there for over 2 hours and most of it was spent sitting and just waiting for the food to arrive. I even went and got the pitcher to refill our water myself! I had lots of time to play games on my phone we waited so long for everything. You could tell it was the B team in the kitchen too today, as knife cuts were awful (often things weren't even completely cut through) and many items were over cooked. It was a very frustrating experience since we had to pay a premium for dinner today due to it being a holiday! $61 for 2 people and we didn't leave feeling stuffed because we just couldn't get food brought out and finally just got tired of waiting. Even when we complained about the long waits, they just blew us off so it will probably be a long while before we go back. The problem was so bad, they should have been giving all us suffering diners a discount! read more

It was actually really good ! I enjoyed it a lot I like that they have pad Thai !!!! I love their green dragon rolls and the fact that it's small because they use less rice unlike some sushi restaurants ! The only thing I didn't like is to get a drink it's extra ! Worst AYCE experience I have had. Imagine waiting TWO HOURS for your sushi to come and ANOTHER HOUR for desserts. Our group (although a large one) had made reservations prior to arriving on the day of the dinner. This did not seem to be enough to warn them that they may need to be staffed appropriately for the size of our group. The staff was also not very apologetic for their lack of service. I have been to other restaurants which use the ipad ordering system and have never had such a disappointing experience. What is the point of using the ipad system if a waitress/waiter has to come and approve of it? The lack of service, lack of food (our table probably only got 50% of what we had ordered and another table only got 1 plate of food), and attitude of the wait staff was enough for me to never come back to this restaurant. read more

My friend brought me to this restaurant. They operate with iPads - you order with it! Although, it was very inconvenient that the servers had to come by to confirm the dishes you order. The other sushi places I've been to that uses iPads usually just lets the customer send in the order themselves. They have a lot of selections and variety of different dishes. There are even Chinese dishes and Thai dishes. Price is reasonable. I honestly really love this place for its Deep Fried Cheese Wontons. I find that many All-You-Can-Eat Sushi places don't usually have that. Next time I am in Pickering I will definitely be stopping by again. read more

Shame on you Dragon Rolls Pickering While the food and service were good this simple customer service faux pas will mean that we will NEVER EVER frequent this restaurant again. This restaurant does not live by its own commitments.... When we presented the $5.00 offer which indicated that the lunch buffet is $5.00 we were told that this is a not $5.00 for the buffet by rather $5.00 OFF the buffet price of $14.95. This is false advertising. When this issue was brought up to the management (and possibly owner) we were told that there was nothing they could do and that everyone else paid the price minus $5.00 and so should we. If you have run into the same problem at this establishment add your comments to this post as this type of behaviour by any restaurant cannot be tolerated in today's day and age. Worst Service EVER!!!!!...dont go there if you want to eat without being patrolled or hovered over. The staff was 99% horrid... we had a very nice young blonde Asian waitress who must have been new.... but the rest of the staff stared at us, walked by us a million time and literally stood at the edge of the table until our meal was done... I would like to think it was not because we were black!! we would never go there ever... I will stick to Makimonos.. I have never felt so pressured and gawked at, I felt like we were in a zoo... At one point I asked one guy, is every thing okay? (name tag I could not read, but it look like "GREG" ) as he stood at the bottom of the table rocking back and forth. Terrible service. Staff was unfriendly and unwilling to accommodate our children. No change table in the men's room. Food was mediocre at best and when we asked for the bill they brought only one for the entire table and refused to allow us to split it, right after we watched the same waiter split the bill for a table right beside us with the same amount of people. I'm surprised as I've been here in the past, but recent two trips to Dragon Rolls have been subpar. The Issues: - Dirty Cups provided....half-way through my meal I realized there was lipstick stains on the tea cup...I don't wear lipstick. When I pointed this out to the waitress and asked for a new cup, she just laughed. - seats dirty with chunks of chicken from previous meal eater - not a big of a deal as I wiped them off...but still not very nice. I shouldn't have to wipe my own table and seat before I eat a meal. - waited an hour for orders that never showed up and had disappeared. It's quite disappointing waiting for a meal that never shows up. - when politely asked for napkins from one server, she just shrugged and asked me to ask the other server who was on the other side of the room...waited 15 minutes and then got up to get napkins by ourselves - no server available for tea refill. We had to ask repeatedly...being thirsty and not having some refill our drinks isn't fun. The Meal was good, but issues above far outweigh the good. I can have a good meal elsewhere. I used to really like this place and visit quite often. The last 2 times were quite disappointing though. Prices have gone up but service apparently down. Orders don't arrive or get mixed up with other clients. No one filled up our green tea ever. And, they now serve it in cheap (reusable) plastic glasses. It just doesn't taste the same. Worse than that was that our children got big single-use plastic cups with a lid and a straw. At a sit-down meal!! Service quick to be seated, as ipads used for ordering, the waiting for approval by supervisor annoying. Large group will end up driving server crazy, we found it to be over whelming. Food is ok. They forget about you and you have to always be calling out for the attention of the waiters after waiting at times 20-30 mins for someone to come confirm your order so that they can start making the food. The iPad ordering service is interesting to say the least, but more a gimmick than anything since the staff still need to come to your table to confirm the order. Decor is very nice and moody. That's it about the good things worth mentioning. Came here with a sizable group with reservations. AYCE service was extremely slow, as in we would get 2-3 small dishes every hour. What we did get was sloppily made. Four hours later, we ended up getting fed up with the service and left without being satisfied. When we tried to complain to the manager or the owner, we were stonewalled by the waitress telling us that neither wanted to talk to us. Talk about poor customer service. This restaurant is a hit. I have absolutely nothing negative to say about this place as every experience I've had has been positive. Ambiance...service... Food.... Price - I am a repeat customer. Price is very reasonable in comparison to other ayce sushi spots. Not only do they have Japanese but they also offer a decent selection of Chinese (general Tao chick, sesame chicken) and Thai dishes (variety of curries, pad Thai). Love that they have regular and specialty sushi rolls. Food options definitely abundant. Good quality dishes and perfect sizes portions. Ordering system sets this place apart from many other sushi restaurants, as food orders are placed through an iPad..awesome for helping you track your orders and ensure no miscommunication between customer and server. Went for dinner on a Sunday around 5. It was fairly busy and service was exceptionally slow. We ordered a bunch of appetizers first, then ordered a bunch of sushi rolls. We were still waiting for 3 different rolls/handrolls after at least a half hour, when we decided to order some more appetizers. They came first, so we assumed they had forgotten about the rest of our order and ordered what we had wanted before. Turns out they hadn't, so we had to try to communicate to the waitress that we didn't want doubles of everything. Still ended up with a lot more food than we had wanted. Otherwise the food was great, really good sushi. The spicy crab roll and sunshine rolls were the best. The restaurant itself was also very nice looking and comfortable. read more

I've been to this restaurant and both the service and quality was terrible. Our food did not arrive, and what little did come was not very good. The waitress did not seem to care about our concerns and refused to let us talk to the manager (she later let it slip that the owner was there but would not come out to see us). Don't be misled by the 3 star rating. I put it so that it would not automatically be flagged and paid to be removed.
