Overall, great sushi and competitive price for AYCE sushi. We came here for lunch AYCE at $17.99. The lunch menu has a decent variety of items, including nigiri, basic rolls, sushi pizza, tempura, appetizers, udon soup, curry rice and ice cream. In general, the sushi was quite good, there may have been a bit too much rice, but the sushi rice was done well and had good flavour. Be careful, as all the sushi, rolls and handrolls are on the larger end for AYCE sizing. The presentation of the sushi was quite good for a normal AYCE location. It appears that all the sushi was prepared by one chef, so fortunately it was not busy when we were there. The seafood salad had a lot of promise, but the pepper taste was too strong and some of the seafood was still very cold. Hand rolls and nigiri sushi were neatly formed, though they had quite a bit of rice. I liked the tamago, it is made in-store and not in a factory. The karaage is highly recommended, but the salmon teriyaki came out slightly overcooked. The deep fried scallop and pork cutlet are also recommended. read more

We stopped in here on a Monday night for dinner. They have an all you can eat menu that we decided to try, not sure if this differs at all from the a la carte menu size/quality-wise. Kids 11-7 are 11.99, kids 6 and under were 8.99. Adults are 23.99. The staff was nice but everything was very slow. There were not that many other customers, so not quite sure why it all took so long. Quality of the food was good, but some pieces of fish were tiny, the amount of rice did not scale accordingly, so some pieces of sushi had way too much rice (tuna was the worst offender in this regard). We had a couple pieces of eggplant tempura and it was very good. Nice crispy batter. The tempura tofu was okay, but not great. Edamame and the seaweed salad were both fairly typical, worth getting if you like these two dishes. Overall a decent enough meal but I'd prefer a bit higher quality and size pieces of fish. read more

It's not Hiro's at King and Jarvis circa 1995 but, for the money, especially if you take advantage of the cash discount, it's a great value. I am Japanese Canadian so have been eating sushi and other Japanese food for 60+ years, and have not had a disappointing meal at Riki. Its predecessor, Rikishi was an early entrant on the TO Japanese food scene. Really nice family, even the young son helps out taking phone orders. Split a bento box (chicken, salmon, veg, or beef) and a sushi/a sashimi dinner with your partner for the best experience. read more

One of the reason why we went to this place, was that it was highly rated on Yelp. Reviews seem to be skewed - take every thing with a grain of salt! We had 2 chirashi bowl and was ok. Nothing to write home about. Would I go out of my way to go back? No! I don't know if it was a slow day but when we got home and got quite SICK (ie food poisoning). Just be careful! read more

I came on a Saturday night. It was legit dead. I was their only customer. As I was finishing up, two more people walked in. .... So the dinner price is 24.99 which is really good. For the most part, the fish and sashimi was fresh. Enjoyed it lots minus whoever prepared it didn't do the greatest of jobs. The food is solid. There's not much I'd complain about except bland chicken. It wasn't seasoned well at all. The short ribs were tasty until they weren't. The scallops were amazing like wow. I'll add that the soy sauce.... Isn't soy sauce. Its far too sweet and savory to be plain soy sauce. I definitely had to cut the sweetness with the wasabi but that's not necessarily a bad thing. I have had take-out sushi here a number of times as I live close by. I was always on the fence on the quality of their rolls. However, my girlfriend and I decided to dine in one night to see if anything was different. The place was not busy and our order was taken quite fast. However, we waited for quite awhile (about 25 minutes) for a very small order. There were children running around the restaurant and going in and out of a closed booth. Extremely mediocre sushi with extremely poor ingredients and to top it all off an intentionally deceitful order system. Staff will literally try to dupe you into unwittingly "choosing" all you can eat and paying an exorbitant premium on their already unbelievably overpriced food. Kid at the table next to us literally started crying the food took so long. Sushi on Bloor is an infinitely better option in almost every conceivable fashion and is just down the street. Pretty good food overall, but the staff forgot our orders a few times, although they were still nice people and didn't detract from the experience. I just recommend avoiding a lot of the chicken items, which are just unseasoned chicken with teriyaki sauce over them. The rolls and the other appetizers overall are pretty strong. read more

Great people, great service. The service is outstanding, very kind people. They were very patient when we moved tables a few times. My friend and I ate a veggie platter we both loved. Pretty standard sushi restaurant for this area, standard menu, they do an AYCE. Food is about average as well as price. They definitely cannot handle a full restaurant and our most recent experience was disappointing. Server forgot a lot of menu items for people throughout the restaurant, seemed untrained and tried to charge us for the forgotten menu items. No apologies or extra courtesy for this either. I don't think I'd recommend this restaurant over other ones in the area, probably would recommend to avoid it if they seemed busy. The food we did receive seemed rushed, the salad they gave us was completely drowned in dressing, which was gross. :( read more
