I dont have high hopes for ayce. I prefer quality or quantity these days. Stumbled upon this one and i was very impressed. I had no complaints abt all the dishes i ordered. For ayce offerings, i think they killed it! Also, they have not just ur average ice cream and creme brulee for dessert. Try the mango sago and egg tart! Make sure u order them early, they sell out quick!

First experience at Wakame sushi and it did not disappoint! We tried out a bunch of their dishes including sushi/sashimi, rolls, grilled items, snow crab, cheese baked mussels, and sushi crispy rice pieces! They recently just opened a milk tea bar as well, so we grabbed some drinks! I was very impressed with how everything was presented. The sushi/sashimi was fresh and they were generous with their cuts. The rolls were packed and super flavourful. The snow crab and cheese baked mussels were a great addition and definitely unique to AYCE menus! Grilled items were super tasty and the sushi crispy rice were fun to eat. Service was attentive and the place is nicely decorated. Would definitely come again! 4.5/5! Great AYCE option!

Wakame Sushi an AYCE Japanese and Asian Cuisine paradise on Weston Rd. / HWY 401. Discover a variety of scrumptious options, including creative rolls, fresh sushi and sashimi, dim sum, grilled items, oysters, baked mussels and more! We visited on a Sunday and it was a bit busy but since the restaurant is spacious, finding a table wasn't a problem. We enjoyed the food very much. Everything was very fresh and tasty. Our favourites included sushi rolls, grilled squid, sashimi, grilled Kalbi, Mango Sago and the steamed buns with salted egg custard. We also tried the fresh oysters that's currently on special for $10 for 1/2 a dozen. Good food, friendly staff and ample parking spots. I recommend Wakame Sushi.

We came here on a weekend and ordered dinner menu as we're sashimi-lovers. Their menu has great variety of sashimi, tempura, teriyaki, Tataki, dim sum, noodles and fried rice. You can either choose a la carte or all you can eat (AYCE). We loved how fresh the sashimi and rolls were. And also the fact that they gave maki rolls without rice; my favorite! Red tuna sashimi, white tuna sashimi, salmon sashimi and squid sashimi were our favorite; they were so fresh they would melt. The staff are welcoming and the service is fast. There's ample parking spaces available in the plaza and in front of the restaurant. The restaurant has a family-friendly vibe!

This location is still surviving after covid. 5 of us and an infant were here on a Monday evening in November for a small, family celebration. We arrived at about 6.30pm and were able to select our own seating. The menu is on the self-order tablets most AYCE sushi places have nowadays. I like this style of sushi restaurant in that it offers Japanese and Thai dishes. The service time to deliver food was very quick, and the dishes were consistently cleared in a timely manner throughout our meal. One thing that didn't work for me was that you have to use the ordering system to request drink refills. I'm already having 2 simultaneous conversations and trying to eat, and the order pad isn't effortless to use. (At the end of the meal, we were automatically charged service add-on for more than 5 people, even though it was 5 plates charged for 5 people... I guess having an infant at the table makes us more than 5 people to serve.) So yes, I would appreciate not having to place an order for a drink refill. The food was decent value. The salmon sashimi was fresh. We ordered a number of rolls. The fillings were good, fresh and plentiful. It was the rice itself and the smoked salmon on one of the rolls that lost favour with me. I had a Thai red curry, one of my absolute favourite dishes. It was done well, the vegetables were super fresh and tender, not overcooked, and the shrimp were relatively huge. The deep fried dishes and dumplings weren't hot, but still ok. I was a little disappointed with the soup dumplings. I was really looking forward to the chocolate soft serve cone for dessert, but they were out, as were a couple other items on the menu. They still had regular chocolate ice cream, which, for some reason, always seems to be really good at Japanese AYCE restaurants. I tried the Oreo ice cream dessert. The crumble tasted legit but the vanilla ice cream was an artificial tasting concoction that was more like fake ice milk. Overall it's a decent place to go for a casual sit down meal. I've been before, I went again, and could easily find myself there in future.

We used to visit Wakame Sushi only occasionally, but today we stopped by to order some sushi and rolls to go -- and were pleasantly surprised by how much the place has changed. The interior looks absolutely lovely now: beautiful sakura decor, clean and well-maintained dining area, thoughtfully designed walls, and a cozy, welcoming atmosphere. It's clear that the restaurant has put care into both the food and the space. The food, as always, was fresh and delicious. But now, with the improved ambiance, it feels like a place you want to come back to -- not just for takeout, but to enjoy the experience. Very impressed and happy to see how Wakame Sushi has grown. We'll definitely be returning again soon!

*PRE-COVID DINING EXPERIENCE OUTLINED BELOW* -[Pina Colada] $6.50 I mean, who doesn't love a good pina colada?! They make a pretty decent one if you ask me! ~ -[Wakame Roll] 6 pcs for $7.50 (when I originally ordered it 2 years ago LOL, currently listed at $8.50) ~THIS~ is the roll to get, if you ask me! It consists of deep fried roll that is filled with spicy tuna with additional spicy mayo drizzled all over it! Something about a deep fried roll really draws me in for some reason -[Volcano Roll] 8 pcs $8.50 This roll consisted of (according to the online menu) toasted scallop, crab with spicy sauce, on top of a fish roll! I remember this being good value for the price paid but it didn't leave a huge impression on me if I'm being completely honest [AYCE OR NOT DECISION STORY BELOW] Honestly, this place gives really good value for what you pay for! When I originally came here, my friend wanted the AYCE option but after I perused the menu, I discovered that the items I actually wanted weren't even on the AYCE menu. As such, we ended up persuading her into ordering a-la-carte! She ordered an absurd amount that was a lot but still didn't exceed the price of the AYCE option :') I am not kidding when I say she didn't even manage to finish what she ordered! [TAKEOUT EXPERIENCE BELOW] -[KYOTO BOX] $14.95 *2 pcs shrimp, 3 pcs crab meat, vegetable tempura *6 pcs california roll *choice of one of their many protein dishes like teriyaki chicken/beef/salmon, beef ribs, sesame chicken, or general tao chicken! I ate everything else before I became too full and managed to snap a picture of the tempura :') Honestly, this place is SO worth it! I would get food from here every week if I lived closer. Try it out if you're in the area~

Visited here for lunch since I was in the area and I was optimistic to try this sushi place with mixed reviews. It was awful and absolutely disappointing. Ordered from the A La Carte menu - Chirashi, Spicy Salmon Maki, Mushroom Maki and Vegetable Udon in Soup. Chirashi was not fresh - the sashimi tasted like it was frozen and thawed to serve in other words it was not fresh. The Spicy Salmon Maki was meh, tasted strange and unlike any other I've had. Portion of the salmon is generous aside from that there was nothing impressive. My friend ordered the noodles and asked for no onions but was served with onions. The broth tasted weird too and lacked any flavour whatsoever. She asked for no wasabi and ginger with her Mushroom Maki and it came with both. Our server was not apologetic and we had to get a hold of her to inform her each time of the mistakes. Upon receiving the bill, we told our server the Spicy Salmon Maki tasted strange and wasn't fresh but her "reason" was there was nothing she could do about taste. The strange flavour could be due to the lack of freshness of the sashimi but how they store their sashimi. Who knows but if I get an upset stomach over this, I know where to point the blame to. I left upset and regretful that I wasted my time there. I would rate this 0/5 stars if I could. Don't come here for sushi unless you want to waste your money. Not sure what others are saying about this place!

It's my go-to spot to get my don fix - I love the wide variety of dons (rice bowls) that they offer with various fish and seafood combinations. There are also unique appetizers in the menu, such as Purple Yam Croquettes, Crab Crackers, Braised Bamboo Shoots with Shirasu (immature whitebait fish), and Takowasa (marinated raw octopus pieces, to be eaten with or wrapped in nori / seaweed). Although the dons are the main highlight of their menu (hence the restaurant name), they also offer traditional sushi, sashimi, sushi rolls and sets (similar to other Japanese sushi restaurants). Miso Aburi Scallops were very flavourful - nicely torched, giving the scallops a nice grill / char taste. They came with red and green seaweed, and a bit of fish roe. Large Premium Hana Don contained a good amount of fish and seafood, including a whole abalone, uni, shrimp in the shell, aburi salmon, ikura (salmon roe), salmon sashimi, tuna sashimi, yellowtail sashimi, other various fish sashimi, tamago (egg), and a few slices of cucumber on a generous bed of rice. I liked that the rice was a mix of white rice and some type of dark-coloured grains. Unatama Don came with a big piece of unagi and tamago (egg) that were both excellent. The sashimi were all fresh. Okonomiyaki was disappointing but it was sort of expected... for only $9, it was about 99% just flour pan-fried in a patty, without any substantial fillings (unlike real okonomiyaki, which usually contains protein / seafood, cabbage, eggs, and other ingredients). Location is super convenient near Bay & Dundas, ambiance is very casual, and service is quick.

This probably would have been five stars had it not been for the hair. I know this happens on the rare occasion but probably shouldn't if hair nets are worn.
