This review may sound biased and, perhaps, paid for, but I assure you it isn't.
I'm a person (I'm in the public relations field) who will not hesitate to write a scathing review of a place if I've found something inadequate (and I have pretty high standards when it comes to customer service). On the other side, if a place is good, I will not hesitate to write a positive review, commending their quality.
The first thing that I was impressed by was the size, decor and style of the restaurant.
Most sushi spots, especially AYCE, are bland and basic, however, this place looked like a nicer restaurant, perhaps even a higher-end lounge.
Also, upon walking in, we were politely greeted by Jordy, one of the servers, who took the time to explain the iPad ordering system to us.
At the majority of other restaurants I've been to, staff is rude and, either, don't speak English or just pretend not to; here, communication is clear and professional.
Staff isn't always 'in your face' and the iPad ordering system allows you to take your time ordering and eating, so when you're ready for the next round, you just click the app and the server comes to your table - they don't hover waiting for you to order more and get out.
They are prompt with their table clearing and bringing the food, as well.
The dinnerware (plates), are good quality and have style, they use actual GLASSES for drinks (not the plastic ones that most places use), and the chopsticks are REAL - not the packaged wooden ones that give you a splinter!
Overall, the venue, staff and customer service get a big thumbs up from me.
Dragon Rolls didn't get a full five stars from me because I wasn't overly impressed by the food.
This could be me talking after YEARS of AYCE sushi, which eventually all blends together, but the food didn't taste bad; just the same as it has for the last 10 years at every other AYCE sushi spot.
The presentation was lovely and what I really liked is the limited use of rice - I love hand rolls, but they usually have a tiny piece of fish and are loaded with rice - today was the opposite. An equal balance of fish and rice, perhaps more fish than rice, made eating them enjoyable (and I could try a variety of things because I wasn't stuffed!).
The menu is quite varied, with thai, japanese and chinese, so there's something for everyone.
The only reason that I wouldn't go back again is because I think I am officially done with sushi, but I would DEFINITELY recommend it to someone looking for AYCE (priced at $14.99 lunch during the weekdays), and the decor and friendly staff (and the private room at the back), make it a great place to entertain! read more
