Liked their food and ordered it last night and I have a terrible case of food poisoning Then I googled the restaurant and there's like 50 cases of food poisoning from all different orders and meals from there. no food is worth getting food poisoning over. Do your employees not wash their hands or wear gloves? One or two cases can be okay dismissed or ruled out as an intolerance or allergy but there's an actual problem of gross negligence when there's multiple multiple people with food poisoning after eating from here. Do better or close your damn doors. Point blank period. It was ok. If you want it fast, hot and you don't have to make it, this is the place for you. We ordered because it came recommended. Just moved to the area and of course you have to find a Chinese take out place, right? Unfortunately, we're still looking. The general tsos and the sesame chicken were like the sweet and sour chicken (the puffy breading) and the sauce was different than we prefer. The fried rice was mushy and lacked flavor. It works! It's in walking distance for us, so it's convenient. Is it the best Chinese food ever? No. Not really. Does it hit the spot? Totally! We ordered crab rangoon (cheese rangoon technically), kung po chicken, general tsos, beef lo mein, and a small thing of wonton soup. The kung pao was definitely the biggest disappointment. Not spicy at ALL, and like zero flavor. I ended up tossing it in some ponzu sauce to make it more palatable. The cheese ragoons, general tsos, and the beef lo mein were all winners (the lo mein being *really* good). I wasn't the biggest fan of the soup...kinda a weird filling. We will keep going here because it's in walking distance, but it's not necessarily worth going out of the way to pick up. read more

This is my new favorite place in Asheville for well-prepared, reasonably priced traditional "American Chinese" food. The staff is very friendly and the food is great if you are looking for standard "old school" favorites like General Tso's Chicken. By the way, General Tso's is made with white meat as are all of their Chicken dishes (from my understanding), which is my preference. Nothing fancy, but it is just what we were looking for ... a new "go to" place for take-out (or dine-in). Certainly not a place to dine in if you are looking to impress visitors or a date (it has the typical simple decor of an "Express" Chinese restaurant). We will be back, can't wait to try their take on more of my old favorites! read more

I used to go Dragon China a lot when I worked nearby. I'm no expert on authentic Chinese food but the food was always good. stopped by today for takeout and it seems there are new owners. one of my spring rolls had a hole burned in the side as if it were reheated on a grill or in a pan. it spewed grease on the first bite! the insides had so much grease you could see it and a napkin was not enough to soak it up. the second one was normal, inside and out. Clearly the first was not fresh. The beef and broccoli left a lot to be desired, some of the steamed rice was hard as it gets when dried out. Not going back there again. read more

I have tired so many of these little Chinese places in Asheville and I think I finally found one I like. I went solo for lunch on a weekday. The place is small but they have about 10-15 booths you can sit at and eat. Most of these places tend to be dirty and very hot. However this one was clean and cool. There were a few people eating and a few more came in during my lunch. The guy at the counter was nice. I ordered Kung Pao Chicken and Shrimp lunch for $6. This included rice either white or fried. It was a lot of food! It was very good not too soupy. The chicken was fried which I was not expecting but at least it was all white meat. They only have canned drinks or water, The guy at the counter came by to refill my water for me 2 times while I was there which is not normally expected at a place like this. I would return to try more things on the lunch menu. For $6 you cannot go wrong with this place. read more

Dragon China - Kung Pow Chicken and Shrimp - Chinese Near Me - Asheville, North Carolina

Tried this restaurant as we've yet to find a good inexpensive Asian place. It's a bit of a drive from us (we're in N. Asheville) and since it was open on a Monday night, took a chance. Online ordering was easy. Prices a touch higher than others in the area but relatively competitive. Atmosphere in restaurant seemed ok - basic booths, but clean and neat. Our order was ready on arrival, and they did seem a bit busy on that night. We ordered the PuPu for two, steamed dumplings, curry beef and shrimp fried rice and WonTon soup, brown rice and chicken cashew. Steamed dumplings were good, standard sauce. The PuPu was pretty hit or miss, a lot of food, but the boneless spare ribs were overcooke,d, one so much it was inedible. Breading on the shrimp (not deviened!), scallops, chicken pieces was tempura style. Chicken was best. Crab rangoon fairly tasteless. Overall, platter was unimpressive at best. Curry beef didn't have much flavor. I ordered it mild, not knowing this place, and it was, but definite lack of curry flavor. Shrimp fried rice was good. WonTon soup was flavorful with plenty of "schmaltz" ;) Chicken cashew was also ok, but not a lot of flavor. High points - WonTon Soup, Steamed Dumplings, Shrimp fried rice. Lows - PuPu not too good, other dishes meh. We'll keep searching - but not hopeful, we've tried pretty much all the inexpensive places within a 20 minute drive and have found them all to be mediocre and inconsistent. read more

The sesame chicken is pretty bad. It was mushy. I asked for extra sesame seeds and yet only 30% of the chicken has sesame seeds on it.

Unless you're willing to head to South Asheville for PF Changs, this is your place. Dragon China is a local/family owned restaurant. They seem to be select about staff. The service is usually great. I usually always go here for the lunch specials. Shrimp lo-mein with fried rice for $5.95! You can not beat that and the lot mein is so rich in flavor. But wait... It's like they microwave some frozen Chinese food and serve it to you on styrofoam to go boxes (even if you eat there!) And it's priced as if it's good restaurant-quality food. I can from Georgia to meet my family, now I know what fresh taste like but besIde that I order from here the house special fried which consist of beef, chicken and shrimp. I told them I wanted to eat in. And they gave me a bag to leave. So I grabbed a table to eat anyway. As I'm eating it seem well til I ate a shrimp which to me taste like t was bad. By far our favorite take out Chinese place in Asheville. The dine in ambiance is not super cozy but gets the job done and the owners and staff are friendly. Plus you can watch TV movies and other local TV gems while your there! I love that the food doesn't feel covered in slime and grease but still feels like classic "traditional American" Chinese. I have yet to find great (awesome) Chinese food in Asheville. (Granted I just moved here a few months ago). I eat here occasionally, and the food is always good. The beef and broccoli is a little soupy, but the portions are generous giving a big plus to them for that! Some days it's hit or miss. The first time I ate here it was fabulous. The second time was so-so and the next time was awesome once more. I suppose it depends on who is working and how busy they may be. I very much enjoy the food, though, and since I get take out the Chinese Tupperware containers are great for storing leftovers! It's a win/win there! Plus they keep the food nice and hot on the drive home. I barely ever eat at any place since it's much nicer to go home to eat so I can watch a movie or television. (I'm not real big on socializing with others. :D ) So, if you're looking for pretty good Chinese then check them out. (I would have given 4 stars, but my husband hasn't liked any of the chicken dishes on the menu.) read more
