Stopped here for a lunch after visiting the Biltmore so we worked up an appetite. It's a pretty causal place with a good amount of seating and wasn't very busy. This place was a fusion of Asian foods so I'm usually a bit reluctant to order anything too crazy so we stuck with what we knew. Spring rolls were fresh and tasty. Haven't had it with bell peppers before but it was good with the sauces. Green curry had good flavor but a touch loose for how I usually like it. Ginger salad came really overdressed so we didn't eat too much of that but we really liked the cucumbers. Whatever that sauce it was tossed in was very pleasant. We also enjoyed the stir fried eggplant dish with shrimp. It had a nice sweet and tangy flavor. Lastly I ordered the pad see ew, noodles cooked really well and all the textures were there. I could taste the char from the wok but it did lack that "sweet soy" flavor I'm looking for in this dish. I would say overall we enjoyed most of the dishes and some just needed a bit more flavor but it was still a good experience. read more

Stopped in for a quick lunch. The place is always clean and the staff super friendly. They have a bunch of regulars at the tables near us. We got the SPECIALS- RIBS & CHICKEN WINGS- the ribs fell off the bones. Full of meat and great season and flavor will definitely get them again. The chicken wings were super crispy and meaty! The spice in the sauce was awesome. They were juicy not dry. Will get these again as well. Chicken Pad Thai cooked perfectly and a huge portion. The other special was the Seafood Crispy Noodle. It has shrimp, calamari, scallops and vegetables. We asked for no bell pepper and she added mushrooms and broccoli instead. Very accommodating. The dish was great. Was expecting Chinese food when I searched for Chinese Restaurant and saw the name Chen. Arrived and saw a samurai picture hung on the wall. Ummmm yeah. Then looked at the menu and it wasn't a Chinese food place. Oh well. Saw some Thai and Japanese and maybe Chinese dishes. Made the best of it and had a grilled steak and shrimp with brown rice. First visit this afternoon and we could not have been more pleased! Restaurant has very nice vibe with attractive decor. Service was very friendly and attentive. We ordered the Spring Rolls and Shrimp Shumai for starters. Dug in before I could take a photo but both were delicious. For an entree I ordered the Seafood Casserole which was served in a sizzling bowl. It was loaded with shrimp, calamari, mussels and scallops along with red and green peppers, onion and clear noodles. The Brown rice was chewy and perfect. My green curry had big pieces of eggplant and nicely toasted tofu. The sauce and all the green broccoli and green peas were so good. A new Asian restaurant has soft opened on Long Shoals with a grand opening scheduled for May 2nd. My partner and I were fortunate to stop in on Sunday to grab a couple of menus. The interior was so inviting we decided to stay for a meal. Miles Chen came to our table to introduce himself. We started with a bowl of freshly steamed edamame that were lightly sauteed and lightly salted. Followed by 6 Crab Rangoon with sweet chilu sauce. Entrees included chicken Lo Mein and beef Pad See Yu. Both noodles were cooked perfectly and the meat was nicely seasoned and tender. The chicken melted in one's mouth. Full service including beer and wine is expected to be available for the grand opening. The interior and menu items gave me a warm comfortable feeling which is a plus. read more

New Asian restaurant in Arden, NC. I happened to be out enjoying the weather and noticed a new Asian restaurant nestled in the back of a strip mall. This location is not the best. So, I quickly came to Yelp to share my experience. Upon entering, it has a calm vibe. It is somewhat small. Seating approx 40 max.. I was quickly greeted and seated. I learned they just opened (still in the soft opening phase). So, I prepared myself for some of the things that come with new openings. I am happy to say there were none. Their liquor license is not in yet. But, the menu shows what is coming. I decided to try a few things and plan for leftovers. So, I started with the Shrimp Gyoza. Ot was VERY good. I could clearly taste the shrimp and quite fresh. I then ordered the Ginger Pepper Steak and Shrimp Fried Rice and a side of Chili Oil. I ordered wonton soup. It says on the menu it is made with handmade wontons. As anybody who has eaten wonton soup knows, this soup has a clear broth and wontons and usually a sprinkling of scallions.... what I was served was a bowl of dark brown liquid that was so salty I could not eat it. And there were dumplings not wontons in the soup. I sent the soup back and I was not charged for it. However I was with a large group of people and we were celebrating New Year's Eve and I had to sit there with no food while everybody else ate their dinner. I could not order anything else because everybody else would've been finished their meals by the time anything else could've been prepared....plus the little bit that I did eat of the soup made me quite ill. I talk to a woman named Helen who said she was the manager and I told her about it and she said well that's just the way our wonton soup is.... she refused to apologize in anyway. Clean!! This place is great, the ambiance, and atmosphere. Nice gentle Jazz playing instead of canned Asian music. The Shrimp Gyoza is welcome instead of pork and cooked nicely. First time trying Chen Garden. Was served by the owner and he was explaining to me how their White Sauce is a family recipe. It's very unique and I would eat here again just for the White Sauce. I had Hibachi Chicken and the portions were great for the money. The attentions to detail are amazing. They silverware and chopsticks are all custom made and say Chen Garden on them. Very nice touch! Last night we went to Chen Garden for the first time. As soon as we walked into the restaurant we noticed the beautiful decor and ambience. We ordered edamame, shrimp gyoza, and fried spider (soft-shell crab) appetizers, all of which were excellent. For the main courses, we had the Seafood Casserole and Roast Duck. Everything was fresh and delicious. We highly recommend this restaurant. Rita, our server, was great! Very attentive, friendly and helpful. She definitely added to our total experince. As one review said, it is at the end of a strip mall and is not very visible from the street. So, hopefully, through word of mouth and great reviews, it will do well. I had the sesame chicken and fried rice and overall, everything was good! Some pieces of the chicken were a little dry but that's my only complaint. The sauce was good. And I loved the broccoli. The fried rice was some of the best I've had. I just wish there quite so many peas in it. The service was fantastic and the ambiance is nice. Ate lunch here to try the new place out. Very nice decor. However, the food was really not acceptable. She had Chicken pad Thai, noodles were not great, but OK, but the chicken was rubbery and not at all appealing. I had Mongolian beef, which was pretty much tasteless. I added salt with limited improvement. A very disappointing meal for both of us. Perhaps they will improve over time, but we won't be back. read more

It is over-priced and has No flavor - The white sauce is the same Yum Yum sauce from Samsclub. I had the chicken Hibachi, nothing special at all, dry and unflavorful; the chicken satay was dry and had no flavor; the attempt to make steamed dumplings was laughable because you only received four that were the size of a quarter and were not authentic nor was the sauce.
