I've been coming to this place since I was a little girl with my family. We have never been disappointed by the food or the service. Whether that be dine in or take out. The space is small with just 2 servers. But I think thats how they really get to know you. Every time we go they always know what we want. The food is fresh, and cooked to order and ready in a short amount of time My family and I's go to appetizer is the crab rangoon's. I will always stick to this opinion of mine, but I believe that China Dynasty has the BEST crab rangoon's that I have ever had! I honestly haven't found a Chinese place that can out do this places rangoon's. My go to dish is their chicken lo mien. They have a really good taste and they're not dry. They come with veggies but I always ask for no veggies (my personal preference.) It's also served with an egg roll and rice. I would say something else that I really like from this place is the chicken and broccoli. The sauce they put on it is super good and gives the dish a good flavor. First time and it didn't disappoint. Been years since I have had Chinese but craved it so looked at yelp reviews and mostly good. Well I thought it was great mainly because of the fresh cut vegetables prepared to crisp perfection in a savory sauce. Hunan Chicken was tender as can be. The menu is vast, food is always fresh and piping hot (steam wise), service is friendly and quick, not to mention the ever so reasonable prices. First off, the food at this restaurant is good; however, (and it's a big "however") they consistent take forever on take-out orders. The last three times we ordered to-go orders from them they have indicated a time the order would be ready but when we arrive to pick up the order, it will take an addition 20-45 minutes for the order to be ready. Today was my 3rd time getting takeout from China Dynasty. First 2 experiences were excellent. Worth the 20 mile round trip drive. Today's (March 31) food was inedible. Clearly re warmed from an earlier day. Vegetables were soggy, shrimp mushy, sauce watery, worst house special chow mien imaginable. I'm sad this happened and am ambivalent as to whether I will give China Dynasty another chance. read more

Zero stars. The shrimp in my lo mein literally crumbled in my mouth, rangoons tasted curdled, beef and broccoli..just don't. Found this restaurant on Trip Advisor and gave it a try. Finally, decent Chinese food in the Asheville area! Their vegetables are fresh and crispy, not over cooked and their sauces are delicious. I had the Hunan Beef which was very tender and lean and the vegetables were great. Then I had the Sesame Chicken which was crunchy with a sweeter sauce and broccoli. Prices are phenomenal. Horrible food, service and toxic fumes. We came in to dine my husband and I. We were seated by a lady that barely spoke English. We ordered a vegetable chow mein, vegetable fried rice and two vegetable fried rice. The chow mein soggy and the fried rice dry. The vegetable roll were super dry over cooked. Our food was just served and I started gagging! I was a horrible chemical fume like Clorox. We quickly asked for boxes to pack up our food. When my husband and went to the counter to pay they were cleaning the whole kitchen floor. I had to get out. After leaving my husband and I started gagging again and I threw up. At this point, I called the restaurant and again the lady answered the phone with very little English. I asked for the owner Clinton, I inquired with him as to what was in the floor cleaner. He stated oven cleaner and detergent. I told him we couldn't breathe. I asked with no ventilation and his answer was they clean the floor when the need to. It wasn't time to close. My family has always loved the food here, but it has been going downhill over the last year or so. They have frequently burned our lo mein order. Recently they changed the pork dumplings from latge delicious ones to small and mealy ones. It is very disappointing because we loved eating here all the time, but we will be going a lot less now. We decided to try China Dynasty despite the mixed reviews. The food was great. We had: egg rolls and boneless BBQ ribs for appetizers, Snow White (crispy cooked chicken in coconut milk sauce) and Phoenix & Dragon (shrimp and chicken and mushrooms w/ vegetables) - all of it was served piping hot and delicious. Portions were large enough that we took home an entire 3rd meal for lunch tomorrow. Service was a tad bit on the slow side, but not so much that we minded - there are, after all, only 3 employees to work the tables, cash register and kitchen. My recommendation: Try it. Been there several times years ago. The food is reasonably priced. And a couple of years ago, the food was actually good. The wait staff, however, is very unfriendly. I felt as though I needed to apologize every time I ordered. Perhaps it's just cultural, but I've never had that experience in other Chinese restaurants. I would have been back more, but I got tired of apologizing for asking for menu items, water, and chop sticks I will have to take the more recent reviews as gold as to the current status of their food. Perhaps I will give it one more try. Well, I'm back to say I gave this establishment another try. I'm sorry I did. After a long day at work remodeling a house, I called China Dynasty to ask what time they closed. I was delighted when they said 10:00. I got there at 9:00. I happily ordered an egg roll and crispy noodles to start. Another couple came in about 10 minutes after we did. They got their crispy noodles before we did, and their entré. No big deal. About 5 minutes later, my egg roll was delivered. No crispy noodles. But I really wanted my crispy noodles! So, I politely asked if we could have them (always be polite to your waiter/waitress, they're handling your food for crying out loud!). She did an about face, no apology, nothing - which is fine. No worries. We got our crispy noodles, and I asked for dippibgsauce. I asked sheepishly, because I was having flash backs to the very first time I was there, same situation. Similar to the soup nazi in Seinfeld. I didn't want to get thrown out! I got my extra dipping sauce and was grateful! A different waiter came into the dining area, and I politely asked for chop sticks. He seemed slightly put out, and I get it. He wasn't my waiter. I didn't think I was asking for anything crazy, after all, it's a Chinese restaurant. I could see if I asked for this in an Italian restaurant. But this simply wasn't the case. Then came our entré! Yaaaaaay!!!!!! I asked for extra sauce when I ordered my general tsaous chicken. Alas, none was to be had. Well, I was tired of apologizing, so I didn't ask for this to be rectified. Most importantly, however, was my entré was delivered first. No worries (although chef Ramsey would have a fit). My wife's entré was then delivered by the male waiter (the very same waiter that gave us our chop sticks, perhaps our original waitress was done with us. I get it, I shouldn't have asked again for my crispy noodles. Damn crispy noodles!!!!) Interestingly, the entré came in a plate, and it was heaping (awesome!!!!). The rice came in a bowl. But there was no plate to put the food on. Yes, I get the entré came on a plate, but then you'd be just pouring the rice in top of the entré. Call me a traditionalist, not familiar with the culture, or a damn fool,but I politely asked for a plate for my wife and I. The waiter rolled his eyes, and made it clear he was put out. This is when I felt like I needed to be educated on things. After we were finished with our meals, I asked the waiter what time was the best time to patronize the restaurant (thinking I was there an hour before closing clearly wasn't a good time). He said he didn't know. He then stated he didn't know how to answer my question. I then explained I enjoyed doing yelp reviews, and I just wanted to make sure I understood things. He said 9:00 pm was the best time, because we'd get our food faster. I wasn't satisfied with this answer, and I shouldn't have expected him to read my mind. So I then asked him about the plate situation. That it's been my experience that when one gets am entré and rice, they get a separate plate to put their food in. He explained if the couple is sharing the food, they do this, but there is no way to know who is sharing what. He then said "sorry if I acted mad when you asked for plates". So, clearly, he knew what I was getting at. I stated "no, you didn't act mad, you acted put out, and if I know the rules in the future, I'll be sure to know how to better act". He stated that we can ask for plates in the future anytime, and they aren't like other restaurants and won't charge for an extra plate. That's good to know! Considering this isn't a perishable item. Well, good news: I won't ask for an extra plate next time. Because there will never be a next time. It was my fault for giving this place an extra chance when I got such poor service the last time. And better yet, in going to tell anyone who will listen to me about how very very poor the service is here. I shall go with my better judgement next time and go next door to grazies. As an aside, I'd be happy to pay for extra sauce, for my order, and hell, an extra plate even as long as I'm being treated with respect. I wish I could give less than a one star. And for future reference Mr. Waiter, when you apologize for being "mad" about being asked a very common request, you know that your thoughts were written all over your face. I used to love this place. Their quality of the food dropped ridiculously and quickly. Something doesn't taste right anymore. Also, last three times (I know I shouldn't have had it two more times after the first) I got good poisoning. To add insult to injury, my last meal also had metal shavings in it. It's a long way from Beijing to North Carolina, so we didn't expect too much. Our suspicions were confirmed when we noted fried ice cream for dessert. I tried the Mongolian Beef, plain rice on the side: my wife chicken with broccoli and won ton soup, with fried rice on the side. Her's wasn't bad, though the fried rice was inedible. The mongolian was really vinegar-ry and somewhat sweet: at least it wasn't hot. Portions were large, so we brought home a large amount of leftovers. I'm undecided as to whether I'll eat the rest of the mongolian or feed it to the dog. No, considering what the vet charges, I'll probably toss it. All-in-all, if you're a native southerner, you'll probably do OK with China Dynasty. If you're from Yankee territory and know what Chinese should taste like, you may be disappointed. read more
