This is the best take out Asian restaurant in Asheville. Huge menu with everything very high quality. We order frequently with a special fondness for the ribs. I recommend it highly! read more

First I wish I read more of the reviews. Glad I had it delivered and didn't go there. Moo Shu Pork was how it should look but taste of the sauce was off. The pancakes were awful, so thin they held nothing and no taste. The friend rice was dry and bland. No sauces or utensils. Just not willing to try any thing else. I cant believe people from NY are saying its some of the best just like they used to have. I had some of the best Chinese all over NY and Long Island mostly in the 80's and 90's so maybe times have changed. This was not it. read more

perfect. no notes. i'm a basic bitch in that i always get sweet + sour chicken w wonton soup, nothing spectacular, but it's always so good. the owner / lady who works the front is so friendly read more

First of all, it's hard to remember to take photos of your delivery order when you're so hungry you could eat a whole horse. But we distinctly want to recognize and show our gratitude to the restaurant for what we consider to be outstanding Chinese food. The definitive star of the bunch was the BBQ Ribs. Oi - drive you nuts kind of good!!! The shrimp with snow peas was bonkers good as well. The not so spectacular was the chop suey. First of all, whatever they delivered wasn't it. It was tasty and well seasoned but they didn't follow the traditional recipe. The wonton soup was hot and well seasoned- not a hint of MSG. Finally - huge thanks to Peter our Uber delivery driver who expeditiously handed our food in record time. I mean from the point of order to the actual hand over was completed in 20 minutes. I kid you not. I think this is also because of the QMenu app. Brilliant execution of what a food delivery app should be! Ambiance- this was delivery so... our hotel was nice and had a nice fully furnished kitchen. So yay!(?) read more

We ordered from China taste tonight based on the reviews and star ratings on yelp. So disappointed in some of the food. We ordered over 110.00 worth of food. We got two combos one was pork lomein which was fine however, the boneless spare rib combo wasn't good. The ribs were dry with absolutely no moisture in them. The egg rolls were so greasy. No crisp in them at all. The wontons and the crab Rangoon were also greasy. Either the fryer was not up to temp or the oil was old. The fried rice was ok and the fried chicken wings were good. Idk if the chicken and broccoli was good because I didn't eat it but it looked alright. I don't think I will be ordering from them again read more

This is the best Chinese in Asheville. It's clear that all the food is hand prepared and not frozen. You can see the women slicing the dumpling dough in the back. It's affordable and ready quickly. In my opinion it is exaggerated that this a bad area of town, I live nearby, and it's perfectly safe to pick up at. I love this place! read more

The best Chinese food in Asheville hands down! It's kinda in a sketchy part of town. But the food is hot, and the shrimp eggrolls are a personal favorite! The lady who runs it is super nice too! read more

Such an amazing place! the food was exactly what I expected from a Chinese takeout and I loved it. The customer service was also great, very polite and helpfu! read more

We are from out of town and we were camping and found this gem. Probably some of the best Chinese Food my wife and I have ever had. The taste of the food was incredible. The portion size was pretty good size. The price of the meal was very reasonable. The service inside was so good Truly a wonderful experience. The only thing was the location but that has nothing to do with the food and this review Check them out. read more

This is the best Chinese food in Asheville it's so good, the area is a little sketchy there's a lot weird people always hanging out in the parking lot so just be careful but the restaurant itself is wonderful and the workers are very kind read more

Food was tasty. Unfortunately, the location is a bit concerning with the aggressive pan handlers, store's signage and atmosphere gives impression that the environment is not the safest. read more

SALTY SALTY SALTY SALTY SALTY SALTY SALTY SALTY Ok. I believe we've made our point! SALTY! So disappointed! Their menu looked fabulous. Too bad. Great food, very friendly service. Sketchy area but don't be turned away best Chinese in Asheville!

Eh. Not bad but not good. Ok in a pinch. I love Chinese food and grew up eating this kind of Americanized "beef and broccoli" stuff. It is a good that can be really good and it can be really gross. China Taste is isn't a place I would seek out but it will do in a pinch though I might regret it a touch. I have ordered my standard test a new American Chinese food foods - wonton soup, egg roll, chicken and broccoli. The soup I didn't like and didn't eat. The egg roll was fine though a skinny almost spring roll size. The chicken and broccoli was sold but highly sugared and had a lot of msg. I also tasted the fried rice (bland, not good), the Lo mein (solid but msg heavy), bean curd family style type dish (also solid but sugary and msg heavy). So eh. I don't have much more to say. read more

This has been my go to for Chinese food ever since I moved here. I'm originally from Brooklyn so I appreciate the New York style food they serve. Great food and ample portions. read more

Simple Chinese food but very tasty and large portions at an excellent price. Pint-sized Wonton Egg Drop Soup and Moo Goo Gai Pan for $17 so there will be ample leftovers. They also had my order ready very quickly in less than 10 minutes. NOTE: There is no seating. To-go orders only. Also they do not accept American Express. read more

Hands down best Chinese food in Asheville, but also in one of the worst areas. I've never had any issues but be vigilante because the food is worth the risk! read more

We had mu shu shrimp. It was very good -- two orders, but one order would have been enough to fill our hungry tummies. I don't know why we never got takeouts there before. It's much better food than CW's on Merrimon. So we'll go back for more. read more

Very good food, large portion size, good price and still had leftovers. Ordering on the phone was easy, very friendly when picking up inside, and the order was ready fast. I'll definitely be back. read more

Pros: Portions Price range Cons: The items are a gamble The sweet and sour chicken is good, exactly the way you expect, but the egg drop soup has the texture of gravy and is unnerving. The veggie lo mein has good chewy noodles but the shrimp and pork egg rolls are SO SALTY with very little meat. That is to say, it's the best Chinese I've had in Asheville since Asiana closed but choose wisely. read more

extremely great service, perfect spot for grabbing pick up! Affordable and delicious food. They have great vegetarian options!

Went to eat here ast night and got the Chicken Lo Mein and Sweet and Sour Chicken Combos and they were delicious!! I gave it a 4/5 stars only because the Lo Mein and Fried Rice had way to many onions. But I've eaten here before and it was 5/5 stars! If you're craving Chinese this is the place to go! They are quick on getting your food out to you, they have good prices with good portions and quality food. The staff was welcoming and very sweet. Definitely Recommend! read more

This place was about average from what you'd expect from a walk-up Chinese takeaway. The inside is about as sterile as an OR during Covid times, plastic sheeting all over the place. We were in town for a few days and placed a big order here to keep us full at the hotel. It worked! read more

Definitely tasted like they china prepare ok food for a decent price. Unless your china get good general tsao's, as many cheap Chinese places don't do breaded fried meat well, you won't be disappointed. I'm china say, give it a try. China china. read more

I've been looking for a good Chinese food place since leaving New York and I've finally found it. Had a low-key Christmas this year so naturally turned to a traditional Chinese food dinner and was very happy to see China taste was open! Between two of us we got a general Tsos combo platter (comes with rice and a side soup), pint of sweet and sour chicken (comes with rice), pint of veggie lo mein and a side of brown sauce and with tip it was still under $30 for all of that- better yet all the food was good and tasted very fresh, plus the portions were HUGE. We both got 3 meals out of the one order. Will definitely be coming to China taste whenever the craving hits. read more

The yummiest chinese food around! My husband and I were on the hunt for what we considered the best chinese food around, and we determined that China Taste is our favourite so far. The honey chicken is scrumptious! Like eating chicken that's been stuffed inside a donut. (yum!) read more

This was some of the worst Chinese food we've ever had the displeasure of eating. The Kung Pao tofu was the best dish we tried and it was very mediocre. All the vegetables in the fried rice looked old. The.l baby corn was a weird grey tinged color and the peas were shriveled. It also just did not taste like fried rice. Why was it yellow?! The broccoli in garlic sauce was so mushy and had such a strange taste I didn't even eat it. The white rice was prepared perfectly and that's the best I can say about this place. And also that they delivered right on time. read more

I have had much better luck with China taste this last year. Gen tso chicken is really good. Gen tso tofu not so much. Great crab Rangoon and lo mein is similar to HongKong Lo mein. read more

The quality can vary a little from day to day, but the food here is generally of good quality. The hot & sour soup is a perfect example. Sometimes, it's excellent. Other times, it's strictly average. As entrées go, I usually get the beef and string beans or lemon chicken, and both are consistently good. The honey chicken is also pretty solid, so there are plenty of dishes that China Taste does well. Recommended, if not fully endorsed. read more

China taste was pretty good, make sure to get their crab rangoons and give the stick chicken a try. Get their packets too and put it on. Actually you probably can't go wrong here. read more

Oh not my fave! I ordered steak and shrimp hibachi and I got a saucy, steak and broccoli dish with some not so fresh shrimp thrown into the mix. It certainly didn't taste like any hibachi I've ever had before. The fried rice that accompanied my dish was over cooked and, dare I say it, flavorless! My kids' food was way better, but of course it was, because how can you screw up sweet and sour pork! Anyhow, look elsewhere if you are looking for good Chinese food! Definitely disappointed with my food. read more

Friendly family owned take out style Chinese place sums this local west avl joint up pretty perfectly. It's menu with lots of standard Chinese takeout favorites, like Singapore Mai fun, beef and broccoli or shrimp with lobster sauce are American Chinese standards, all of which they seem to excel at. These folks are not just Chinese ppl with a restaurant, they are a talented and hardworking family who know how to cook. If you live in west avl you can have your food delivered, always a plus especially when it's a short wait and its delivered by someone who isn't just a delivery guy on a scooter but one of the owners. They have a large selection of vegetarian meal options and all the standard favorites I might not have mentioned above. This place blows all the other Chinese takeouts in Asheville out of the water, so don't waste ur time with the competition like Metro Chinese on Merriman. Go big and hit this hidden gem on State Street!!!! Also the online order and payment feature makes this the easiest place in town to order from. Hit the order online tab in the Yelp listing and it's a guarantee your food will be ready for you. read more

My fondest hope is that someday Asheville will get a really good Chinese restaurant, preferably Szechuan-style such as the amazing Gourmet Kingdom in Carrboro. This is not it. However, the food at China Taste, a little take-out spot in West Asheville, isn't bad. Plus, I give it points for opening in West Asheville and for offering delivery. It's also quite reasonably priced, given the large servings. I think it opened early in 2015. Rare in Asheville, China Taste offers delivery, but only in West Asheville within about a 3-mile radius of its location on State Street, roughly mid-way between Amboy Road and Haywood Road. The menu boasts, "Chinese Food to Take & Eat in New York Style!" Somehow, though, it doesn't remind my much of the Chinese take-out and delivery I used to love on New York's Upper West Side. Some may remember it as the former site of a Cuban sandwich shop and laundrymat and grocery. It also has a few seats if you want to eat at the restaurant. The food is basically Cantonese-American, with all the usual Egg Rolls, Chow Mein, Fried Rice, General Tso's this and that, twice-cooked this and that, seafood dishes with lobster sauce, Egg Foo Young, Sweet and Sour Chicken, along with a few Szechuan and Hunan-style dishes. There are even a couple of Thai items, such as Pad Thai. Most are not spicy, even those that are rated so. We did take out and ordered a variety of common dishes to see how they compared with other local Chinese options. Among the appetizers, the BBQ pork spare ribs ($6.95), with the standard red sauce, were tasty and had lots of meat on them. The shrimp dumplings ($4.95) were pretty good, though next time I'd order the regular dumplings. For main dishes, we had the Orange Chicken ($10.95), which was not up to even Asheville Chinese standards, in my opinion. The Hunan Beef (small order for $5.95) was okay, and the Moo Shu Pork ($9.25) was light on shredded pork but had delicate very thin pancakes. The String Beans with Garlic Sauce (small order, $4.50) were crispy enough, if not very garlicy. Steamed white rice, not anything special, came with most dishes. This big bagful of Chinese totaled $45, not including tax. There was plenty enough for three or four meals for two, and in fact, except perhaps for the Orange Chicken, the dishes seemed to improve on the second and even third day. The menu is lengthy, running to well over 125 dishes plus many combination plates and sides. Service is friendly and the meal was ready for pick-up when promised. Bottom line: I'll probably occasionally get take-out here again, and I appreciate having more Chinese options on the West Side (we have a similar Chinese takeout spot in the Westridge Shopping Center and two Chinese buffet places and probably a couple of other spots), but I'm still dreaming of Gourmet Kingdom, with its tasty, uberhot Szechuan that brings tears to my eyes. read more
