Sadly, the food has changed dramatically, and so has the ambience and a sense of anything. It's generic beyond tolerance. The soup dumplings have suffered. And they are what we go in for.

We saw some exquisite dishes come to tables around us. We ended deciding on the safe route. We ordered hot egg rolls, dumplings and garlic wings as appetizers and followed with chicken fried rice. Three thin egg rolls deep fried, almost like cigars, and sweet and savory sauce. There were 5 dumplings ... just delicious with the soy based sauce. Five chicken wings rounded out the start. We wanted them extra crispy - the kitchen did not execute. Fried rice was perfect - crunchy with plenty of protein, a combination of shrimp and chicken. Portion size was large. Would definitely return. Classic flavors, friendly service and good value. Highly recommend without any reservations. Enjoyed the experience.

Always consistently delicious. My favorites are the B5 with no noodles side of onions and the wings. I seriously wish they would bottle that wing sauce. I would put it on everything.

It's Bourbon Thyme is a fantastic cocktail that paired really well with every item we ate too. We started with the wedge salad, which had. A lovely ginger dressing. The Tuna Tataki is a must, really nice rolled slices or raw tuna with the peppers and the ponzu sauce, truly amazing. The shishito peppers were wonderful and nicely charred with a great dipping sauce. The seabass may have been the tastiest item, the butter sauce and roasted lemon sauce was exceptional. We finished up with the carrots and bbq ribs, which were crispy on the outside but tender as you bit into the rib meat. Service was stellar as expected for any Michelin rated restaurant. I'm def coming back here soon, the bar looks nice and they have nice Ramen bowls and other items I want to try.

Perfection!!!

When ordered from Archetype, the food comes out quickly and conveniently. That's a great set-up! When I came to eat at Gan Shan, we sat in their outdoor space, which was cute! Service was very friendly and accommodating as well. I don't know which dish I would pick next time between the General Tso's Tofu or the Gan Shan Rice Bowl because both were equally good! They do a great job with tofu here! The Gan Shan Rice Bowl had less tofu but more additions like pickled vegetables and kimchi. The General Tso's bowl had amazing flavor, and you didn't really need more than the tofu and broccoli! We also tried one of the ginger drinks, which was good, and some sake. It's a great place to come with a friend and share dishes to try more options. I will be back soon!

Our server was kind and friendly and went out of her way to make our evening enjoyable. A creative and fun menu is here, we tried a variety of things the night of our visit. Sushi, burgers and a bar. We started with the Dumplings appetizer along with some garlic herb Edamame and it was very good, we asked for eight shrimp and they were glad to adjust for us. Crispy and a nice crunch. It was a nice beginning. The soybeans were fresh and hot with a nice flavor also a good start. Next some Toro and Hamachi Sashimi, both were fresh and flavorful. Along with a California roll, it was true to type, nicely rolled and good flavor. Next I had the Sweet Heart Roll, an impressive presentation and work of art. Simply delicious and so flavorful. This was an excelleny choice. Then the Madness Fries, a pile of seasoned fries with a mound of shredded carb on top. This is simply insane, it was such a delicious bowl and the combination of salty fries with sweet crab. A winner. My partner had the Vegan, a beyond burger patty on a Millet Chai bun the way she wanted it and said it was very good too. We tried several different items and each was very good to better. All in all an excellent meal 4.5 Stars rounded up for the creative menu, presentation and kind service 01172

It was not overly busy, but definitely on the noisy side, which was expected due to all the hard surfaces. It could get loud if it was busy. I was greeted promptly, and my server arrived moments after I sat down. I ordered the Miso soup, a Red Blossom roll with tempura shrimp, and the Yakisoba with chicken. The miso soup was great, a 5. The red blossom roll was very good, tasty with a nice crunch from the tempura, a 4.5. The yakisoba portion was huge, it was a bit on the savory / bland side for my taste, but it's been a good 10 years since my last yakisoba, so a 3.5. I'll likely get two lunches out of the leftovers. The men's room was very clean. Overall, a four star rating. I may well be back, if so, next time I'll either get a second hand roll, or try something else. Their hibachi dishes sound interesting.

In a world where restaurants too often feel like transactions--order, eat, leave--Jazmin feels like…read morea quiet act of defiance. A reminder that food, at its best, isn't just sustenance; it's memory, resilience, and pure, unfiltered heart on a plate. This new spot in downtown Asheville, at 22 College Street, comes from the same wonderful family behind Laila (and the beloved Andaaz, which Hurricane Helene tried--and failed--to wash away for good). They've risen from floodwaters and loss with something even more ambitious: Jazmin, a pan-Asian love letter that pulls flavors from across the continent--vibrant street eats reimagined with elegance, bold spices that hit like a memory you didn't know you had, dishes that dance between familiar comfort and thrilling discovery. The food? Damn near transcendent. Layers of texture and heat that make you pause mid-bite, close your eyes, and just feel it. A wide-ranging menu that refuses to be pinned down--think masterful curries, fresh takes on classics, and creations that taste like someone traveled the back roads of Asia and brought the best secrets home. Every plate arrives with care, precision, and an unmistakable soul. But the real magic is in the room. The service isn't polished performance; it's genuine warmth, the kind you get when family opens their door and says, "Come in, eat, stay a while." Smiles that reach the eyes, recommendations given like they're sharing a family recipe, attention that makes you feel seen, not served. Asheville has no shortage of good eats, but places like Jazmin are rare landmarks--proof that the greatest kitchens aren't always in fancy zip codes or under Michelin lights. They're here, run by people who've poured their lives into the fire, lost much, and come back cooking with even more fire. This isn't just a restaurant; it's a comeback story wrapped in flavors that will haunt you in the best way. If you're in these mountains, hungry for something real, go. Sit at a table, order whatever calls to you, and let them feed you. You'll leave full--not just in the belly, but in the kind of way that makes you grateful for second chances, good people, and food that reminds you why we bother eating together at all. Jazmin isn't just worth five stars. It's worth seeking out, worth telling your friends about, worth falling in love with. Just like we did. Go hungry. Leave changed.
