Horrible food. Dry no flavor. Do not go. Save your money. Makes sense no one was there. Couldn't even speak English.

Siam to Go (located inside the ice rink, behind the school) is probably the best Thai to be found…read moreon the island -- and it isn't even the only Thai place around. :) Lots of pros, a few cons. Pros: - They use a lot of good, fresh vegetables, in their dishes. Fantastic! - They also use a lot of protein in most dishes, i.e. noodle and curried dishes. We found portion sizes of main course dishes to be quite generous. - If you ask for spicy, you get spicy... - Some of the food has a smokiness that might even be authentic wok hai. Even if that good smoky flavor isn't from a sizzling hot wok, its subtlety is quite enjoyable. They don't bonk you over the head with it like some restaurants do. - They even use some fish sauce in some dishes, where appropriate. The food is nowhere near being as gringo as they could get away with being, in a place like Nantucket. - A beef teriyaki appetizer was on the small side for the price, IMHO, but it was tender and delicious, reminding us a lot of the Malaysian meat jerkies we know and love in NYC. Cons: - If you ask for spice level 1, dishes still come fairly spicy -- too spicy for our kids (who are accustomed to eating south Indian food with a bit of heat). Actually, a dish that we asked for at spice level 1 was nearly undifferentiable from one we asked for at level 3... - A chicken satay appetizer was, like the beef teriyaki, on the small side for the price (three small, verrrrry thin-cut pieces), and was fairly bland -- but it was tender. - Like a lot of otherwise good Thai food in the US, including in Boston, a city with excellent Thai food, everything was excessively sweet -- far, far sweeter than would be the norm in Thailand anywhere, and not properly balanced by acid and heat. - Along the lines of criticism as the prior point, the peanut sauce and nam pla were both nasty, industrially-produced syrups, essentially. --- We're lucky enough to have some truly world class Thai restaurants nowadays in NYC, especially of the Isaan persuasion. If this point of reference is helpful: Siam to Go doesn't quite meet that standard of stinky / spicy authenticity, but the Thai-American food it serves is of often-high quality and enjoyable in its own right. It's so great to have this as an option on ACK.

Pretty bad Chinese food…read more Service was low quality and the interior was a mess, and not welcoming. Poor ambiance. They didn't even have real silverware or plates. Food looked pretty unappetizing and low quality. Taste was ok, and not as bad as it looked. I think I could make it myself as good. This is the place you go for Chinese when you're desperate. I don't think I'd ever come back.

SERVICE We walked in on a late Thursday evening to grab a…read moredinner at this local spot. The line up for DoorDash and takeout was at least 4-5 parties long. We made our order quickly at the counter and asked for dine-in option. AMBIANCE We sat down in one of the booths as the line got longer behind us. It was buzzing from the people but still relatively empty dining area. In 10 minutes or so while grabbing water and utensils, the desk manager served us our food on plastic cutlery. FOOD Our food came quickly and exactly as ordered in spite of the nightly rush and scramble. We ordered the classics C1 with egg roll, boneless spare ribs, and chicken fingers and pork fried rice and D5 with chicken and mixed vegetables. The food came out hot and tasted exactly as we expected and when we asked for chopsticks and extra condiments, it was provided as soon as possible despite the long customer line. I see ratings here complaining about quality and speed... and I say this... comparing a lower-priced, casual spot to a higher-priced restaurant on quality and expectations isn't fair, as their resources, ingredients, and service models are just fundamentally different. Casual spots are designed to offer quick, accessible meals and a relaxed atmosphere and this local spot has never disappointed in our 4-5 visits here so far! Definitely is a go-to for the classic American Chinese food that's hearty, fast, tasty, well-prices and local to get your fix in.

Mind you granniehudsoneatsout is reviewing based on 2 things! I just moved here from Hudson,…read moreleaving my Lotus Blossom in Sudbury behind... WAAA, BAWL, WAIL. Walked out of a fantastic yoga class at Centerville Yoga and went over to find an eggroll. After reading all the reviews, I figured, what could the harm be. Let's try the eggroll and take it from there. Many years (1980's) there was a Chinese restaurant in Shrewsbury, before it was the gross Chumlees (defunct, THANK GOODNESS!). They had THE BEST eggrolls I had ever had. As much as I love Lotus Blossom, their eggrolls are good, but never THOSE. So, I walk into GHZR and ask for a large order (=2) eggrolls. And steamed peking ravioli (AH HOW I MISS MARLBOROUGHS China Taste, an unfortunate victim of Covid, who had ALMOST perfect eggrolls and the best peking ravioli, the ones my toddler grew into a teen eating...). One of the owners was so cute when she said "Our eggrolls are ok. Eggrolls are one of those things that people have one they love and then they get that one stuck in their heads forever. And our peking ravioli are good, but maybe not the best you've had. I will give you the best ginger sauce. Mine is better than my uncles!"... Out came my order to go and out I went. Into the car. Hungry. Pulled it out. Munched on it. AND ANGELS SANG! What are you talking about girl? YOU GOT IT NAILED! If I eat nothing else from your place, it will only be eggrolls and you will still get a 5 star review from me. NAILED IT. Ravioli? Meaty, not salty, doughy, and delicious. I think I found my new Chinese crave joint, only 6 minutes from my house! REDEMPTION for moving so dang far away from my always Hudson. THANK YOU GUYS!
