I have gone to this restaurant since they opened in Harwich . The food has always excellent. But J would say they are better than ever. The owner works as hard as anyone on the many cooking . It has an open kitchen area so one can see the food prep and appreciate the effort and skills that are displayed well. My large family and just my husband and I always enjoy everything wet order. At Szechuan Delight, I've found dependable pork fried rice and a nice light won ton soup with slhredded pork and slivers of snow peas and scallions. Another winner is the cashew chicken dish with a flavorful, not gloppy sauce. read more

I couldn't even get past the phone call to order the food, the man taking my order yelled and then laughed at me when I asked for white rice with my general tsos and sesame chicken. Even yelled "I don't know how else to tell you this". I've never gotten this kind of service ordering Chinese food. I'll never understand this situation, where someone gets botched for asking for some white rice with their meal. Do yourself a favor and go to Asian Palace in Chatham. This is absolutely the cleanest Chinese restaurant I have ever seen. The service is very reliable. There aren't a lot of good options for Chinese take-out on the Cape so this one is the best by default. The food is hot, and fresh. I personally found the dishes to be seasoned with a bit too much vinegar, and not enough other flavors. read more

I'm with most people on this review board -- the place serves up (surprisingly) tasty dishes, albeit in an American Chinese style. Though the restaurant is simple and clearly designed for take-out business, there are a few tables for eating in, and tea is also available at no cost. The food comes up very fast, and is super hot and fresh. Again, while the menu is pretty much out of the American Chinese playbook (Moo Goo Gai Pan, Kung Pao, Moo Shi, etc.), they do a great job preparing it. No skimping on chicken or beef in the dishes we had, and the sauces were not gloppy and overwhelming. The chow fun and General Tso's were well above average, and the scallion pancake was sensational, among the lightest and crispiest I've had. There aren't a lot of Chinese restaurants mid-Cape to begin with, but compared with my other local choice, in Orleans, Szechuan Delight blows it out of the water. read more

Wife and I both love this place. It's 95% takeout but there are several little tables where folks are welcome to eat. Every item is cooked to order, and everything we've tried follows the tried and true recipes us natives are sure to be familiar with. The vegetables are very fresh and served crispy rather than all boiled out and mushy. We are particularly fond of the shrimp with broccoli and the Kung pow chicken. Ask for chili pepper sauce on the side if you like your favorite dishes spicy. read more

It's just a carry out place that is incredibly delicious(small d) because you wouldn't want to take a date unless you need help carrying out the food. Over the last 4 years visiting the Cape for 2 to 3 weeks at a time, Szechuan has graced my table at least 10 times. I've explored the menú and enjoyed every dish. This has always been our go-to place and driving 30 minutes each way was well worth it. Yesterday however, the food was definitely not their normal. The lomein was dry and tasteless ( we actually threw it out) and the chicken with broccoli had very minimal sauce at all. I am hoping this is a one time event but if it happens next time we will need to look elsewhere . read more

Love this place. We live about a 1/2 hour away, but will often make the hour long commitment (round trip), because it's that good. Now - there aren't many Chinese food options on the outer Cape past Orleans, and no good ones in my book. But I'd go here anyway because the food seems fresh, not super oily or salty. read more

Very tasty (American) Chinese food! At a great price. Szechuan Delight's signage advertises as Take-Out, and that's true. There are a very few tables for indoor dining, but the vast majority of their business is to-go. Service is quick and professional. Portions are quite generous: I've had luncheon specials twice, and each time I end up with enough leftovers for 1-2 more lunches. I've not yet tried their dinner combinations nor their dinner entrées, but I expect portions are similarly generous. Their hot-n-sour soup is fantastic. Just the right level of heat and sourness, and enough stuff in the soup that you could eat it with a fork. Wonderful! The Ma Po Tofu had just the right level of spiciness and had plenty of tofu at just the right firmness. Another visit I tried the General Tso's Chicken, a staple of Chinese restaurants. Very yummy! A bit less spicy than I like it, but not worth complaining about. It included a few florets of cooked-just-right broccoli. - a nice touch. Szechuan Delight is a great find in Harwich. Very disappointed in the food here while vacationing esp seeing it has (an undeserving) 4-star rating. We ordered 2 dinner combos (chicken with broccoli, general tso) and chicken lo mein. Chicken with broccoli portion was about 1/4 of the container, where was the rest of the food? I asked for extra brown sauce, it did not happen. General tso- only reason this place is getting a star. Chicken lo mein- was NOT seasoned. Very bland. No seasoning or salt and 95% noodle to fill the larger take out container. Not sure if this was a 1x thing or if that's how they usually serve this but I also don't know what's worse. The worst part was the dinner combos came w a bunch of fried apps, one of which was "chicken nuggets" and it was a cheaply battered piece of chicken breast. The NERVE to call this a chicken nugget is insulting. Pics included, I cant make this shit up. read more

Covid era review: this small take out only shop did a fantastic job on an incredibly busy Christmas eve. They were slammed with orders, but handled the business efficiently -- calling out orders by last four digits of phone number to the masked crowd waiting outside. My food was excellent and there were no errors even though half the dishes were off-menu customized. They did a great job on a tough night. And they took Covid precautions very seriously keeping themselves and their customers safe. The food was very good and of course, the portions were large -- an excellent value. read more

My family was craving some Chinese takeout while visiting a beach in Cape Cod during vacation and decided to stop by around lunchtime. People kept coming in and out to pick up their orders, and so we took this as a good sign. The chefs were very friendly and humble, and we could see them in action behind the counter. Even though we wanted takeout, we still had to get some lobster and scallops here since we were at Cape Cod. Boy did we make the best choice-- usually takeout is super greasy back home in NYC, but the food here felt light on the oil and didn't make me feel heavy or guilty on indulging. Not only that, I'd looked up the best places for seafood for the entire trip, but the fried lobster and scallops at Szechuan were the best I'd had during the entire trip-- clean, juicy, and meaty! I imagine this place to be a hidden gem since it's in a quaint mall strip away from all the more touristy areas, but I'm jealous of all the locals close to it. Sounds ridiculous when thinking of all the other seafood restaurants around, but definitely making a trip back just for their seafood takeout, as quantity and quality made the food well worth it! read more

Given the increased focus since the pandemic on take out food .. this restaurant upped their game. The food is fantastic and service and facilities are upgraded. We had high hopes. Several fellow locals recommend SD. First off, this place is VERY popular so perhaps my experience was isolated. Our food had no taste, no flavor. We did not order without MSG and not sure if they cook without it, I'd prefer it to be sans MSG anyway. Lo mein was mushy. Our 3 combo dinners were filled with so much fried rice. I am officially done with Szechuan Delight after my experience on New Years Eve, 12/31/22. No doubt about it, the food is good, no complaints there. My problem is the owner is extremely dishonest and has a bad attitude. In almost all previous visits he has padded the bill by a couple of extra dollars. He NEVER gives the bill total over the phone which is suspect. He hangs up quick before you can ask him the total. When challenged he will go with "old prices" as the excuse and get mad that the issue was brought up. In other words, I am the problem. New Years Eve - I ordered over the phone at 5:50pm and was told to pick up in one hour. I arrived at 6:55pm and there was at least 30 other people waiting for their food. They must have ordered after me, right? Wrong. Most had ordered before me. I made my way to the counter and gave them the last 4 digits of my phone number. Response, "it's coming" with no estimate as to when the food will be ready. I then waited patiently until 7:30pm and asked again. Response, "it's coming." I then told the owner I would only wait 10 more minutes or cancel the order. Response, "it will be ready in the next 10 minutes." Meanwhile about 5 others heard my conversation and said they had pick up times of 6:30pm which means their orders were in front of mine! Finally at 7:45pm (nearly two hours after I placed the order) I had enough, I told him to give me my order or I am walking. He tried to pull a fast one and told me my total and wanted payment. I said I would pay when the food was on the counter. He quickly backtracked about the order being ready and told me I needed to be patient, look at all the people waiting for their food. I walked out at that point with no food and a lot of wasted time. I totally understand New Years Eve is a bad night for takeout. It was the completely dishonest approach the owner was giving all his customers that infuriated me and provoked me to write this review. Everyone was being lied to. With 30-40 people waiting inside and outside he was still taking phone orders and telling people to pickup in 45 minutes knowing the food wouldn't be ready for 2-3 hours. The owner has no concern for his customers, letting them stand around for hours and not giving them any kind of indication as to when their order will truly be ready. read more

We were very happy with our meal last night! We ordered the wontons with hot and spicy sauce, unique flavored chicken, spicy green beans with ground pork, and how special lo mein. I don't like dishes that are too spicy, but the wontons and the green beans had just the right amount of heat. The food was hot and fresh. This will be our new Chinese takeout restaurant. Can you say rude? He cut me off before I was even done with my phone order because "there are 100 people standing in front of me " ...??? I had to argue with him to finish giving him our order, just very strange. and a follow up ...completely screwed up our order which totalled $141.00. Missing two entrees, an one of the appetizers we ordered. The owner is the guy who took my order and clearly cannot handle the management of a busy take out place. Lost us as customers on our first try, too bad as we live here year round and will spread the word to STAY AWAY. Not worth our time and effort to even try and go back to reason with this inept owner. We have been going there since they opened as we live 1/2 mile away . They are rude most times but I can deal with that. What I don't like is they think everything they cook is great. Don't call with a complaint ! Tonight I got 4 bags of crispy noodles for a dish I was cooking and they were all stale. When I called I was told thats what happens when they put them in those wax paper bags they serve them in... so that's my fault ? The 2$ I paid wasn't the point .plus a 1$ tip, The point was they weren't edible and they could have cared less... I guess I'll wait another yest before going back. Finally found a great Chinese take out on the Cape!! Ordered in advance and was told my order would be ready in 25 mins- arrived right on time to pick up my order and was discouraged to see a line stretching out the door and into the parking lot! However, I had barely settled in line before I heard my number being called. I was able to walk past all those in line who stood silently staring at their take-out menus as I rushed by. We ordered a selection of apps, orange-flavored chicken, lo mein, and house fried rice. All was super delicious and still hot!! I highly recommend getting the light, crispy, and cream-filled Crab Rangoons as well as the Boiled Wontons w Hot and Spicy Sauce--both dishes were superb! My only issue was that they forgot to include the requisite duck sauce, soy sauce, and fortune cookies. The food was so good however that the soy sauce from my fridge was more than sufficient. Today, not being super hungry, I ordered a 'small' chicken dish and a 'small' hot and sour soup. The soup, although delicious, had so many ingredients that you could almost eat it with a fork. The chicken was also delicious but even the 'small' size was far too much food. In short, I had an outstanding meal with enough left over for another outstanding meal tomorrow. I've been eating here for almost 20 years and, although their beef dishes can be slightly on the tough side, but still very edible, have never had a meal I did not enjoy. read more

This is one of TWO Chinese food restaurants I go to regularly, so I consider this one 'better than most' on Cape Cod.
