I am so confident in and grateful for Vasken and his incomparably trustworthy service that, in spite of a busy schedule involving frequent travel, I have willingly driven as much as two hours round trip from Hollywood to Hermosa each time I've needed any kind of service for my car over the past four years. Vasken was enthusiastically recommended to me by a business contact after I moved to LA in 2007. When I told the contact that Hermosa was too far from my home, he replied, "Make the trip; it's worth it." Ever since, no one else has touched my car for so much as an oil change. The thing that makes Doctor Auto Tech so extraordinary is the scrupulous integrity exhibited in both the quality of the staff's work and the honesty with which they operate. Vasken has never once recommended service unless it's been needed (in fact, he's talked me out of spending money on repairs he's deemed unnecessary). He is clear about needs and presents maintenance and/or repair options in layman's terms, ensuring that the customer fully understands procedures and related costs before moving forward. My interest is in maintaining my car and its value in the most economic manner possible, and being able to trust an auto mechanic so strongly is a priceless commodity--especially in a town where cars are so vital to life and mobility. On top of all of this, Vasken's entire staff at Doctor Auto Tech is invariably pleasant, articulate and professional. They take pride in their work (as well they should) and always exhibit sincere gratitude to the customer. I genuinely love this business, and it's a pleasure to support it. On those periodic trips I make back and forth to Doctor Auto Tech, I pass a countless number of Vasken's competitors--but it's never occurred to me to go anywhere else. For as long as Vasken decides to stay open, it never will. I took my wife's 2004 land Rover Discovery to Vasken after it started to misfire and the service light had come on. My initial reaction to the shop was "wow it's clean". He called an hour later to tell me he had located the problem with the ignition wires and coils. He asked me to come to the shop to look at a couple of other issues he had noted when the car was on the lift. The car car had coolant leaks from both heads. It was obvious this had been going on for awhile. There were also numerous oil leaks. This is apparently common with all these Discovery's. His recommendation was to fix the head since he had to dismantle a lot of the top end of the engine to access the coils and replace the ignition wires. Of course the cash register kept ringing but he was giving me an honest appraisal. He also asked me about the ABS and TC light that would come on for no reason and then reset once the car was shut off. The dealer quoted a crazy amount of money to replace the ABS unit which I had said "no way". Vasken explained that by flushing the ABS system you free up the small valves in the system. So far it works perfect...no more ABS or TC light. The headliner was falling down and the driver window no longer worked. He fixed everything. Trust me it wasn't cheap but I was treated fairly and the work was done at the highest standard. Turns out he also works on Toyotas. I'll be taking my 2000 LandCruiser there in the future. read more

My 2007 Range Rover needed extensive mechanical repairs so I had it towed to the dealership for an estimate. After a detailed inspection, the dealership quoted me $5,800 to get the repairs done. At that given time, I did not have the money for the expensive repairs so I had my vehicle towed back to my home. One of my neighbors noticed my car being towed back to my house and suggested I take my car to Dr. Auto Tech and see Dr. Vasken. She assured me that he would be able to provide me with more of a reasonable quote. Not knowing where to turn I took my neighbors advise and called the Dr. That phone call ended up changing my life. Dr. Auto Tech is a family owned and operated auto repair business that believes in customer satisfaction and not like the dealership whose main concern was the pay. Dr. Vasken and his wife Lena were so friendly and professional I was amazed. They repaired my vehicle for $2,300. Half of the repairs the dealership was suggesting wasn't even necessary!!!! They took care of me as if I was family. They take so much pride in customer service and the workmanship is impeccable. They even did a courtesy detail upon completion of repairs. I am extremely pleased with the service that I received from Dr. Auto Tech. Unlike other mechanics I used in the past, when I first drove onto the yard of Auto Tech, Mr. Vasken heard a knocking sound coming from under the hood of my car. This was not what I originally went to see them for. I was having a problem with my break booster. Come to find out I had a much more serious problem. The previous mechanic I used failed to properly put a part back onto my vehicle that could have caused not only injury to myself, but to another driver, or pedestrian. I saw with my own eyes that the part could have come apart at any time. Dr. Auto Tech not only fixed this problem but they also made sure I had new parts for the older parts that had a connection to the problem, cleaned under the hood, surrounding area(s), inside of my car, etc. When I go back to see Dr. Auto Tech it will be to have my break booster repaired. It's difficult to find a Mechanic who is as knowledgeable as Dr. Vasken. The work he does is just amazing. For example, most mechanics just read the codes for a check engine light, but that does not always fix the problem. Vasken can recognize the underlying issues. He gets it fixed right the first time without having to do unneeded work. Another example is with A service. The dealer wants to change everything and make as much money as possible, but Vasken always explains what is needed and what is not. Many times there are parts that do not need to be replaced. Doctor Vasken what a great guy! I was having transmission issues with my audi A4 and i took it into the Doctor. It was my first time so i wasnt very sure and im not very good when it comes to keeping up with my Audi. I was scared i was gonna get a huge bill and the work was going to be crazy but vasken worked with me and told me exactly what was wrong and saved me extra money but letting me know what things were urgent and what werent. I have used Dr Autotech for years for Range Rover, Toyota and BMW. More than just oil change but major service. They will also recommend things that need to be watched for later repair. They will not recommend things to be done that are not required immediately. They will show you all the parts replaced so you can see the condition of the parts.
