TRUSTWORTHY AND HONEST.. Those words are rarely uttered in this industry but in this case they are 100% exact. From Liz through the owner Everyone is up front honest and fair. The communication was excellent as I started off via Yelp back and forth and then rolled over to a phone call in order to schedule then the day prior to the schedule I received a text message to verify my site visit the following day I was able to reply to the text without any problems. Upon entering spoke with Liz Handed over the keys and pulled up a seat. Another huge plus is the ambiance of this place from the signed photographs on the wall to the video games to the computer workstations and Internet access that you can use while waiting They definitely understand what the customer is looking for when it comes to auto service. Within an hour and a half to two hours which is what was quoted for the full car inspection for my Toyota Prius everything went better than I could have ever expected or have ever had at any other service location. They've learned a lot at their other Santa Monica location where they started at and now they expanded into the South Bay so if you have a car that you need work done on especially hybrids or Teslas or maybe you even need pre-purchase inspection done prior to purchase. I can't say enough good things This place is excellent I will definitely be back and tell as many people as I can about it. All of the employees seem honest and upfront and ready to help even hearing a few of them on the phone with customers that have cars in the shop with them already was very reassuring as there is no sales pitch or upsell attempt. So happy I found this place, my A/C went out in my car and I had a hard time finding a place that would just look at without it costing me a pretty penny. As I was talking about how hard it is as a woman to find a place to go for car repairs without feeling like you're getting ripped off, I happened to ask how much a 60k maintenance job would cost since I had an appointment the following week at another mechanic shop and the price they quoted me was half of what I was quoted at the other place. Whenever I come across a local business with 5 stars, I'm under the impression reviews are fabricated. That is far from the case with Car Nerds! Less than a week ago, I opened a project via Yelp to seek quotes to inspect my car's engine coolant warning. The reviews for both the Santa Monica and Torrance locations caught my attention. But what really stood out to me was Rony's responsiveness. I made it clear in my request I wasn't sure if my issue was rooted in a faulty sensor or truly low fluid. So Rony offered to do an inspection first, instead of prematurely assigning an unreasonable or high quote like certain dealerships/competing shops. Liz over at the front desk was kind, personable, and professional. She set the tone for the shop to be welcoming and easygoing. And while it wasn't necessary, she directed me towards their fridge to grab a drink while waiting. Most repair shops just have a broken water cooler that spills all over. (so this was a nice touch) I'm a naturally inquisitive person. So by the end of my car's inspection and quick/minor repair, I had questions about: - why I saw a specific warning on my dashboard - how things work etc. Rony was kind of enough to pop the hood of my car and explain in layman's terms what he was seeing and the solve. My only note is that the mechanic arrived a tad late past the agreed appointment time. In the grand scheme of things, not a huge deal to me because of the high degree of customer service & efficiency. I also verified by the end of my visit that this is a full-service shop. Something was leaking on the passenger side floor of my car and chat GPT told me it was most likely a clog in my AC drain. Used Yelp to connect some local auto repair shop for a malfunctioning blind spot detection sensor, only car nerds said they can work on it, but all others said they don't have that equipment and software for it. The bracket for mounting the sensor is cracked, they replace the broken bracket and calibrate the ADAS. All work now without any alerts. read more

What a good start for a great customer service. And the owner, who is so knowledgeable and very friendy. He didn't make me feel pressured. I wondered why the 'D' on the gear indicator had been blinking for a while. 'Turns out that a sensor, for transmission shifting, needs replacing. I can't give Rony and his staff enough stars they are the most nicest people you will ever meet! I trust them with all my heart because if they try so very hard to save you money! I let them keep my car for as long as needed, allow them to work on other cars because I have second working car, but what they ALWAYS do is look for parts that is not going to cost you a lot of $ and they give me options, so I can make a choice to give them time to search and order cheaper parts it may take a whole month or longer! But would I rather pay $5000 more for something new, available sooner? NO keep my car man! Find me a used part I'm all about saving $! And I appreciate the effort I KNOW it's not easy finding a good deal and these guys don't give up! Or let you down! But will tell you how they will fix the issue and you can trust they aren't going to EVER screw you over! I went from an estimate of $37000 (WTflip) to a fraction of the price and yeah it took them a while to do it but I'm fine with that!!! They took apart my car into totally having to take it apart to fix my issue AND I had a few issues. One was the AC not working. After 7 months AC failed AGAIN I needed it to be fixed again! I am not mad, I drop off my BMW and they find out a little O ring was worn out and while other places would replace the whole part, they ordered a ring that would work for a couple bucks, did not charge me a DIME and I only paid for the cost to refill the freon gas, no cost to diagnose or take my car dash out to find the issue - they spent days looking for the issue and making sure it was not something serious. I pay for the gas they washed my car sparking clean, like how do you NOT love them???? And mind you they had to test running this car without AC in 95 degree summer heat. And they are sooo adorable, Rony is the owner and he has a brother they work together. They are closed Sunday but came out to open the shop just so I can pick up my car a day earlier, when they are CLOSED! Sweetest guys EVER! And the desk lady who takes all their calls Liz is also very nice. If you get mad at them for taking time to fix your car I'm going to tell you - they are spending their precious time to fix your car so that they save you money! Don't you dare get impatient. I hope everyone reads this so you know they work their butts off for YOU. They will warrant their work and they won't charge you an obscene amount of money just to diagnose your car like other shops! Be patient, be trusting and you will receive the upmost care. Everyone from Liz the office administrator to Rony the owner were super friendly. They quickly identified the problem that was making a strange noise--bad ball bearings in one of the wheel hubs.
