So far, I am extremely happy and pleased taking my car to Vasken! I tried to do my due diligence when I look for a business and check out their reviews and history of being in business. I have always taken my car to the dealership and have realized how much more expensive they are so I thought I would try an auto mechanic business and make sure they were ASE certified. I called and spoke to Lena and was greeted with a warm welcome. I ended up staying at the auto shop since I just drove myself and didn't know the area very well and brought work with me. During this yearly service on my car, Vasken would share different things that he was discovering about my car when he was working on it. One of the things was that rats, critters were inside eating what they could and of course, eventually they could get to the wires and that would not be good... he showed me the proof and suggested since he just put one in another car this device that you could hook to your battery to keep the critters away and it works 24/7 even if your car was not running. It was only 50 bucks and was glad to take care of that situation as I live in a condo and it's only subterrain parking and not enclosed like a garage. I appreciated that even though it was something I was not expecting. Vasken also reached out to me when I got home that day and was concerned that when he drove the car out of their work garage he noticed oil on the ground after I left and was concerned that there may have been a leak and asked me if I could come back the next day just to verify that that wasn't the case. Now someone could also do that if they were not being honest and use that as a situation to take advantage, but Vasken did not and I did go back and it just took a few minutes for him to check my car just to make sure there was no oil leakage. I appreciated his concern for me to come back to make sure and not assume. When I was there for the first time, I also mentioned to him about my glove compartment handle that had broken off literally a couple years ago now. I thought it was a simple fix back then but when I took it to the dealership, they wanted to replace the whole thing which would've been I believe under $1000 to do that! I was shocked and just let it go and have lived without a glove compartment since. Anyway, I inquired with Vasken and he said we could just replace that handle for you! I couldn't believe it! He was willing to do that for me, even though it had nothing to do with the workings of the auto mechanics of my car. He then ordered the part and at a fraction of the cost I now have a working glove compartment again after a couple years! This was my first experience with this business and working directly with Vasken the owner. It was a positive experience and I feel that he is very fair with his prices and does his best working on high-end cars. I can also see how he takes pride in his business and his shop as, being a perfectionist, even his auto body shop looked pristine and organized to me. I also appreciate that he takes time to respond to the negative low reviews he has had in the past. That just shows me that he does care what people think and has nothing to hide and responds in a professional way. Thank you again Vasken, Lena and Von. Lena and her husband provide quick assessment and fix's at Dr Auto Tech. My Ram 1500 had a battery and starter issue to which they resolved in under 24 hours. They even credited me $100 as they felt bad as had previously replaced the battery earlier this year. This shows they really care for the community of Hermosa and provide great service. I've been coming here for a couple years and I can't say enough good things about this shop. The pricing is way, way more reasonable than going to the dealer but beyond that, .... The service is excellent. They are super thorough, they work fast as hell, they don't upsell you, they even show you the parts they've worked on or replaced so you know you're not being taken advantage of. I am a female with zero car knowledge so I go into these places with a bit of skepticism, but since I've started coming here I have never had to worry about that. They are so patient when explaining things and answering my (probably dumb) questions. I just had my car serviced by them again and it is driving better than when I bought it 7 years ago! I am dropping my score of your shop to 1 star after denying having any customer by my name etc etc. That's strange, I have THOUSANDS and THOUSANDS of dollars worth of reciepts for work that was done on my car....I would think the right way to handle a less than good review would be to take accountability for your shortcomings and try to make it right with the customer, after all - we are the ones who feed your families and keep your lights on. What I should do is post the numerous high dollar receipts I have from your shop - maybe that would help jog your memory? Being less than honest isn't a good first impression from a mechanic....just sayin Very disappointed at how things worked out - thought I had a good shop I could count on, seemed that way - until it didn't and thats when I realized I didn't have to be treated like a burden, but like a valued customer. My friend recommended Dr. Auto Tech after I drove into a cement barrier in a garage and damaged my bumper enough that my driver side door would not open. I believe this is actually not a body repair shop, but Vasken gave me a referral to a body shop in MB. I'm writing this review because Vasken (at no charge) was able to get my door to open, making the vehicle operable until I can get it into the body shop. He didn't charge me for this, and I felt like I was being helped by a close family friend. Maybe for Dr. Vasken, the work he did wasn't a big deal but to me it was a HUGE relief and I'm really grateful he was able to help me out. Man, there aren't too many mechanics out there as talented and detailed as Dr. Vasken. I picked up a broken down 2002 BMW 540 with an oil leak that had been sitting in a driveway for 3 years and immediately took it to an auto shop and a detailer. Of course there were still problems, and the detailer didn't clean it up as well as I wanted (I'm pretty OCD) so I turned to Dr. Auto Tech and couldn't have made a better decision. Immediately I could tell he was the real deal because of how meticulously he looked at every part of my car. Dr. Vasken identified quite literally EVERY problem that other mechanics identified and even more, and he also made sure to only exchange parts and do work on parts of the car that HAD to be done. He also helped me swap out and sell the ugly after-market rims the car came with and even ordered the BMW hubcaps for the OEMs I bought, AND he did a great job of cleaning out all the gunk and trash that the detailer missed. The cherry-on-top was how openly Dr. Vasken communicated. He made sure to give me regular update calls whenever he discovered new potential issues and was very open to discussing the pricing. I went out of my way to bring the car from DTLA down to his shop in Hermosa Beach, and needless to say it has served me well -- I drove back to San Francisco from LA without a hitch. NOTE: Dr. Vasken *actually* looks after the cars he works on so I would recommend only bringing in your vehicle if it's one you truly cared for -- he charges $150/hour for labor, which frankly might still be too low considering his wealth of experience. read more

Dr. Auto Tech and his team have repaired my vehicles (Prius, and Audi Q5) for the last 5 years. They are simply the best! Honest, great service, easy to work with, and they do great work. Recently I knocked the side mirror off of my car and damaged the door just before I was supposed to go on a road trip. It was also on a weekend, when they were closing early but after I called they stayed open until I arrived and even dropped me off at a rental car office. They were diligent about getting all of the parts in as fast as possible and even stayed open late to make sure to finish repairing the car before I was scheduled to leave. I just wanted to let the public know that this place is amazing. We broke down on our way down to the marina to go fishing and left our car in the Marina parking lot. AAA came down and towed us to Dr. auto Tech because this was the only place that would stay open and wait for us to get the car towed here. The people are very knowledgeable and super friendly and accommodating. We did call a different auto place and they wanted to charge us quadruple what this place quoted us because they knew we were stuck but this place didn't do that. Honestly, I don't see how this place has any bad reviews. This is by far my favorite mechanic and I trust Dr. Vasken's opinion much more than the service advisor at the BMW dealership. I will never take my car to any other mechanic (and I have been to quite a few). When I take my car in he looks for what is wrong, gives me a diagnosis, and then tell me what repairs he can do within my price range. He explains what repairs are essential and what I can hold off on. His honesty is refreshing to see from a mechanic. The BMW dealership quoted me at a $6,000 repair while he did the same work at a fifth of the price! All his work is far cheaper than taking it to the dealership and he usually gives me discounts on labour. Not only is his work considerably cheaper but all of the repairs done to my car have lasted. Very satisfied! :) PS-If another mechanic is saying the Dr. Vasken is a crook you might want to be weary of their motives for saying such a thing.... read more

Car: 2006 VW Jetta 2.5 I am so glad to have found Doctor Auto Tech! I called Doctor Auto Tech on Monday of this week after business hours and left a message. My call was promptly returned on Tuesday morning by Vaskan, Owner who left me a voicemail. When I called back I had no problem getting to Vaskan directly (there is no routing through a service department here). I explained to him that I needed to have a fuel injector inspection/cleaning and he advised me of the cost as well as time to complete the job. I booked my appointment for Friday morning. Wednesday afternoon I called to change my appointment to Thursday and again was connected immediately to Vaskan and accommodated. This morning I arrived 15minutes before they opened and was greeted by Vaskan upon arrival. He immediately was very welcoming and I knew that he was a trusted and reputable mechanic. He took the time to review everything with me in detail, looked through all of my past paperwork of the last service I had on my car at the dealership and made a copy to keep with my records. The service was completed in exactly the time promised. When I picked up my car, Vaskan went through everything with me, again in detail. He said that when he got in the engine the people at the dealership had left it very dirty and he had cleaned out everything and showed it all to me. He let me know recommendations for my next services and exactly how much they would cost and the time they would take up front. I must say that Vaskan and his team at Doctor Auto Tech made my experience wonderful. As a woman it is often a pain and can be intimidating to take your car in for service and they have gone above and beyond to erase this thought from my mind. DR.VASKEN IS AMAZING!!!! I would not go to any other place to fix my car. He knows his stuff. He first fixed minor parts with my VW Jetta and didn't even charge me labor. I then was given a 2003 Mercedes C230 Kompressor and my handles were broken. He had the part in the next day after I gave him my serial number and did not keep my car. He was fast and proficient. Dr. Auto Tech treats you like family when you are there and that is what I look for in an auto repair shop. When my check engine light came on and I was not in town I was able to call Vasken and give him the codes to make sure I was getting a fair price. That is what I call AWESOME CUSTOMER SERVICE! These guys are the best at what they do. PERIOD. NO SUBSTITUTES. To my dismay I live in Oceanside (and not from CA, so I'm not use to this traffic) I can't make the trip up as often as my Disco requires. I ended up finding Dr. Vasken here on yelp, I was buying my Disco from a local up in Redondo beach. She's a 1997 and had some serious rust but she was steal. When Doctor Vasken looked at her he quoted a job that wasn't too expensive and a one day visit only. Being as she was my only car and I was alone (my husband was deployed at the time) I felt like I was in good hands with the Auto Tech family. They totally treated me and Chloé , my mastiff who was 9 weeks when we met Dr. Vasken, like family. They all talked me through everything step by step and let me know what may come up afterwards, because again, she is a 1997 with original parts, no one really cared for her. She was bound to need work down the road. Fast forward two years and my husband and I drove up from Oceanside and went through all the necessary repairs, Dr. Vasken was super straight forward about the costs and our options, as well as offering up a Disco from his personal garage that would be similar to getting work done, minus the cosmetic wear that our current car has. It seemed like a good deal the only problem for us was matching our schedules to take the time out and drive back up to get all the paperwork done as well as a test drive because the car was not at the shop. I wish it would've worked out for us but we decided to hold off a little longer, hopefully that one or another similar will be available when we are. Dr. Vasken, I have to say you and your team always made me feel good and safe walking away, unlike most auto technicians or mechanics, I've never gotten that dirty, lied to feeling. Was looking for an alternative to bringing my range rover into the dealership. Dealership costs 150 for diagnostic. This place "bring it in and lets check it out" No Charge! They were able to keep my car at 5pm and it was ready at 11am the next morning. They even took the time to fix my cigarette lighter ( used for cell phones not smokes) and another sensor that would just go off for no reason. price is better than dealership and better service. Im always apprehensive when bringing a car to a new place. Luckily now I won't have to do so anymore. This is the new go to. read more

I recommend all to use this shop. Cars are so computerized, it is imperative to have a shop that is very honest, and very competent. I had an ABS alarm show for several months. Suddenly more alarms came it. I sat up an appointment for this repair and for routine service. They diagnosed this, and repaired with about $100 worth of sensors. A dishonest, or less competent shop could easily convince me that a $1000+ module failed. I enjoy cars, so they showed me the computer print outs to help me understand. On their own they cleaned up several bumper blemishes. Nice to work with professionals who like their customers. I have used them for all maintenance since I purchased my CPO Mercedes in 2014 ----why drive to dealer, when you can support professionals in our neighborhood? read more
