Customer service was great, friendly people. But I'm not writing this review concerning that. I hit a deer in a blizzard back in January, and I couldn't get my car into a body shop soon enough - the earliest appointment I could get was at Downeast Autobody. I filed my claim with GEICO, and at first my estimate was within the range of repairs. About a week later I received a phone call from this business notifying me that my estimate had gone up double the cost for repairs, which put it in range of a total loss. When I looked over the list of newly added repairs, a lot of the things had NOTHING to do with the damage caused by what I had listed on my claim. It felt like they just tacked on a bunch of extra BS to up the cost and declare it a total loss. I'm very, very upset about the loss of my car, as it was my only transportation. While this may not be their fault entirely, I can't help but feel that I was let down. read more

After my car was rear ended by a drunk 17-year-old in Ellsworth, I needed advice regarding dealing with the insurance company. Not only did Dan Tibbetts help me understand the insurance claim process, but he had his staff realign my SUV tailgate on the spot so I could drive it safely. At no charge. I was referred to Downeast by my insurance company (back in 2015, for some collision damage). The repairs were beautiful, the staff was professional and the repairs were done in a timely manner. I have since been back twice for other work on my vehicle-I still find Downeast a great business to work with. read more

I made an appointment for my car February 6th, it had small dents on it from branches falling on it during a wind storm, but was still perfectly drivable. I asked them if they would look at it and order the parts first, as my insurance didn't cover a rental and I was paying for a rental car each day I didn't have my car. They wouldn't look at it first, and said it would take about 2 weeks. I had reserved the cheapest rental car from them which wasn't even available when I went to pick it up. They didn't even START working on the vehicle until 18 days later. I'm paying for a rental car for 18 days for no reason, which is incredibly expensive. Now they're telling me the car won't be done for another THREE WEEKS. making it 6 WEEKS total for something that was going to take two weeks. On top of that, they refused to refund me ANY of the money I spent on their rental, for no reason while my perfectly drivable car was just sitting there at their shop. Absolutely terrible customer service, I would have been ok with the extensive time it's taking them if they would of done the right thing and refunded me SOME of what I spent on the rental while they weren't even working on my car. I should have gotten my car back while they weren't working on it to save money on the rental. read more

They wrote the estimate, arranged for a rental car, called me every couple days to let me know the progress of the repair and the detail people made my car shine!
