What an incredible experience! My sister recently moved her family to Anna, TX, so when visiting, I decided to drag everyone to Van Alstyne to try something new! After a great lunch at Bill Smith's Cafe around the corner, we checked out Dowling Distillery having no idea the experience we were in for. The charming speak easy vibe yet cozy elegance makes you feel right at home. Nick and his mother welcomed us with the kindest service while his father, Steve, gave us a personalized tasting of their local Texas moonshines, bourbons, and mixers. They also offer a short menu of sandwiches but only what you need! A classic Rueben and and super cheesy grilled cheese! They even have a grilled cheese for the kids!

This is what our barrel looks like. Very fun and festive for parties.

The staff was very professional and knowledgeable. The tour was very interesting and held alot of good and neat information. I did not feel rushed during the tour and you could ask questions along the way. The tasting and pour your own bottle experience was definitely something I wont forget! I definitely would recommend this distillery for a fun date day! I cant wait to come back to do another tasting and tour.

(5 stars) A Hidden Whiskey Gem in the Texas Countryside…read more We had the pleasure of visiting 1845 Distilling in Lowry Crossing, Texas, and were warmly welcomed by Bob, the owner, and Miguel, the head distiller--an incredible father-in-law/son-in-law duo who are clearly passionate about their craft. Tucked away in the cooling shade of a pecan orchard, this distillery is a hidden gem just outside of Dallas that deserves a spot on every whiskey lover's map. If you're traveling the Lonestar Whiskey Trail, make sure 1845 is on your itinerary--you'll be glad you did. Bob's Southern hospitality made us feel right at home. He gave us a personal tour of their still house, bottling facility, and beautiful rickhouse, sharing their vision for future expansion along the way. You can feel the pride, purpose, and family spirit in every detail of the operation. After the tour, we settled into their cozy tasting room and recorded an episode of The Whiskey Trip--surrounded by great whiskey, good conversation, and genuine Texas charm. And then there's the whiskey. Their rye bourbon absolutely blew my mind. It had every note and nuance I look for--bold, balanced, and beautifully crafted. Maybe it's the influence of those pecan trees, their precision German stills, or Miguel's talent behind the spirit--whatever the magic is, I was hooked from the first sip. 1845 Distilling is more than worth the trip--it's a shining example of craftsmanship, family, and true Texas hospitality. We arrived shorty before our scheduled time, and the distillery was just opening. Don (co-owner) welcomed me and told us to come on in. The space is very welcoming, and we immediately felt comfortable. We were fortunate enough that Don took care of us. He told us about the beginnings of the distillery, how he and his partner got started, and how they have continued to evolve. Their attention to details are unmatched. Their gin, bourbon, and vodka were all top-notch, and we were very impressed by the personalized tour. Don's passion and knowledge made the experience truly memorable. We learned so much about artisan products, and the efforts that go into making them. I strongly recommend this experience to others. Their spirits taste really good. We could've stayed longer, as comfortable as Don made us feel. We were able to sample most of their products and we had two amazing cocktails each. We purchased the Artisanal Gin, the Barrel Finished Gin, and the Blended Bourbon. My wife surprised me with a bottle of the Blended Bourbon, and Don presented it in a very nice gift bag. He actually dedicated the bottles to us and signed them. We're looking forward to bringing our friends for another visit soon. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and recommend a tour to any spirits enthusiast!

I stumbled across this spot from Yelp and when I drove up, I thought there was no way this was a bar we wanted to be at. When I arrived, I was kindly greeted a worker named Ray. What followed over the next two hours was an experience that made our weekend. New Artisan Distillery obviously distills their own liquor - vodka, gin and bourbon - and they have a tasting room/bar where you can test this liquor out. The gin was our favorite because of how smooth it was. What was neat was after we tasted each of the liquors, Ray then made us custom drinks from herbiage in their front gardens. Each drink was handmade and only $12/each. He did a tremendous job explaining how this liquor company came to be, how their logo/bottle was designed and the background of their spot. Ray made the experience very fun and it was a great spot to stumble on. Highly recommend.

Looking forward to returning for their outdoor concerts in the Fall. We did the tour where we also poured a bottle to take home. Flavor of the month is watermelon. I had reserved a tour for 3 (I highly recommend that you do the tour and if you choose to do a tour that you make reservations in advance as they sell out) and initially I did 2 with bottle fills and one tour. The tours come with a ticket for a drink so that was a nice little extra. As the tour started Ryan & Diego (our fabulous guides) gave us some history of how the company started and as well as the process of how the vodka is made. We got to mix our bottle (as we got the lemon) and fill our bottles. We also got to put the caps on the bottle and see how the line works. At the end of the tour, we also got to taste some vodka. After the tour we decided to go get our drinks and the staff inside were just as kind as the staff taking us on the tour. There are so many drink options that I wasn't sure what I wanted as they have so many flavored vodkas. I was told I could sample the vodkas which I was grateful for as it helped me make a decision. My cousin got the raspberry cobbler and the Bloody Mary - the raspberry was sweet but good and I don't like bloody Mary's but I'd drink this one! I got the blueberry lemon, the prickly pear and the front porch . . . All were good to me. When we were there they had some guys playing music inside which was a little loud but sitting on the porch, it was nice to hear. They also had a pizza food truck outside and my cousin said the pizza was really good. If I could make a suggestion to the establishment I would ask them to PLEASE sell flights! Please please please as there were so many drinks that I wanted to try but unless I was gonna sleep in the parking lot I knew I shouldn't but I guess it's also a reason to come back!
