2024- Yelp 100 Challenge - #56 Okay, just wow! I thought this would just be a cool little spot to check out, but let me tell you, their Kolaches were fantastic! Oh, and don't overlook the blueberry donut (thank me later if you like blueberry ). I'm serious, we went twice over a two day period because they were that good. Customer Service was great. The lady taking orders and checking everyone out was friendly. Seating is limited so I recommend ordering to go, but there are tables available if you don't mind it. read more

Very cute donut shop. The doughnuts are beautifully decorated with super unique flavors all of which have been excellent so far. The donuts are a little more on the 'cakey' side than what you'd find at a typical run of the mill donut shop but they are excellent. They also have huge kolaches which I can't want to try. I'm going to go for the smoked Jalepeno cheddar one tomorrow. I can't wait :0) The staff was extremely nice and patient with us as well, so all in all this is a great location. Oh wow! We are so glad we visited this awesome donut/kolache shop in Broken Bow. We ordered the boudin and jalapeno cheddar sausage kolaches and they were divine. The sausage had a nice snap to the casing and was so flavorful. I am still craving that boudin kolache! It had a nice complex flavor profile that was very subtle and was lovely with a bit of mustard on it. Oh so very very good it was! Doughnut Theory specializes in cake donuts and I am a huge fan of those but will have to save for the next visit. The service is friendly and the cake donut flavors are aplenty! The atmosphere is great with uplifting music playing in the background and the owner tells the customers to have a blessed day. That is so nice to see. We will definitely return and look forward to trying those cake donuts! read more

Just extremely mid. Says they are open until 1, so showed up at 12:15 on a Saturday. A young girl was pulling in the "open signs" placed outside. I walked in, cause the door hours confirmed they were still open. I see a lady behind the counter obviously getting ready to close. I asked, "are y'all still open?", to which she annoyingly replied, "I have a few things left if you want, you can choose these". I got a few sausage rolls and a blueberry donut. The sausage rolls were just okay and you could tell the oil used for the donuts was oldish, so not the best quality. I will say, I did go at 12 on a Saturday, so I know they are busy and that's kinda late at a donut shop, but they are open till 1. I understand there might be a limited quantity left, but Broken Bow has become a tourist destination and on a Saturday, should probably prepare for that as well as have a seemingly better attitude when a customer walks in, whether you are ready to go home or not. read more

Yummmm!!! Just walking up it smelt like a carnival (funnel cakes) so I knew they had to be good! Had a blueberry cheesecake, blueberry glaze, reg glaze and a smoked cheddar kolache- which were ALL delish! The donuts were cakey, and I know some people don't like that texture for donuts but they tasted great to me! The kolache had some kind of seasoning on it (resembled like a garlic knot seasoning) and this is the first time I've ever had something like that.. it was awesome! We were driving thru this little town and we were lucky to have been served as they were closing. With that said , customer service was a 5 star and beyond. This is a fantastic donut shop. The Premium Jalapeño cheddar and Premium Smoked link Kolaches were some of the best Kolaches I've ever had. I also had the Girl Scout cookie donut and it was delicious. The couple that owns the donut shop were very sweet and friendly. We enjoyed visiting Doughnut Theory every morning during our stay at Hochatown to get our sweet fix. read more

Blueberry cake donut tasted like a warm blueberry muffin. Jalapeño sausage wasn't to spicy and the gf added a little mustard to hers. I had premium sausage roll and it had the slightest touch of pepper from the sausage - a genuine premium sausage roll. I wanted more but were full! We not only subscribe to the Doughnut Theory, we think it has been well proven and should be a law. We found the concrete dinosaur out front and just had to come in to see what this Doughnut Theory was all about. What it's about is a small, bright, cheerful, and tidy doughnut shop with inside and outside seating if one wants to stay for a spell. Surprisingly, this one-woman operation also had a selection of "pigs" in blankets. The boudin was already sold out when we dropped in, but we were able to try jalapeno cheese and alligator sausage. The Jalapeno Cheese was a slightly longer version of the classically Texan jalapeno sausage and cheese kolache. Not the spiciest, but seriously flavorful and pleasantly less sweet than most in Texas. Go OK! The alligator sausage is what elevates this review to the fifth star. The sausage was bursting with savory spices and had a hint of a picante kick, but only a hint. The surrounding pastry was like a light, fluffy dinner roll with a bit of a chew in the crust and again, delightfully not-too-sweet. If we weren't 500+ miles from home for this visit, we'd be instant regulars! read more

Such a cute little spot for doughnuts right off the main drag in Broken Bow. Really kind employees and great service! Mostly cake doughnuts, although we also got an alligator kolache. Such a fun experience, perfect for kiddos! Complete with picnic tables out side, with a ton of space for them to run and play, not to mention plenty of concrete and chalk to play with. They open at 7am and are open till 1p OR until their doughnuts are gone. We went at 10:30 and there was almost nothing left! Get here early. A must see when visiting Broken Bow! read more

Their daughter was there and helps in the business and it warmed my heart to see parents actually helping a child become what our society genuinely needs. My favorite was the smoked cheddar jalapeño kolache rather than the donuts. The donut flavors were pretty spot on. They're all cake donuts, even the glazed and chocolate, no yeast donuts. One thing I was a bit frustrated with was the fact that all five of our donuts went into paper bags, 2 in one and 3 in another. I asked for a box and she said we weren't buying enough. So plan to eat your donuts when you buy them, not saving for later as it all melts together in very short order (within 30 minutes) in the OK heat. IMO, just figure better packaging into your pricing. read more
